because others have reached 4.5 GHz with no CPU delid.

My idle temps are around 39C, but the moment the CPU starts working, it reaches to 89-95C almost instantly after AIDA64 or wPRIME Stress Tests.

I have tried my best to tame it down by lowering the Power Limits and Turbo Power Max.

Mind you, it is delidded with CLU. Achieving only a 200 MHz overclock over the stock 4.2 GHz doesn't seem so good.

Now as you know I ordered a Silicon Lottery CPU that is guaranteed to overclock to 4.8 GHz but offcourse that's on a desktop with a 1.4V voltage so I don't know how well it will play in this laptop.....

    I hope I don't get disappointed.

Today I will repaste my current CPU with IC Diamond but this time I won't spread it, maybe I am putting too thick of a layer, I will use the pea sized method and see if it improves the temps when the CPU is at full load

I would be more concerned with how the heat sink is tightened back on than redoing paste over and over.
Your room temps have allot to do with it.
And of course, cold air will allow you to go higher. Not sure why everyone thinks you can just set 4.7 ghz on air and roll with it. That's not going to happen any time soon. :D

    1) In Mr. Fox's Teardown video, he mentions that tightening the screws any more will not do any good as the heatsink mounts with the help of the springs, so tightening them so much might only ruin the screws when trying to unscrew them the next time

    2) Didn't Mr. Fox achieve his 4.7 GHz OC on air?

I can probably get Phoenix's CPU to 4.5Ghz no problem, probably even 4.6Ghz, maybe 4.7Ghz but like @johnksss said, you're not getting there on air.

Even your new CPU will most likely reach the same temps around the same clock speeds. Your temps do seem kinda high for a delided CPU but then again your ambient temps are high right?

If anyone will be beating @Mr. Fox it'll be me. :D

My 4.7ghz benchmark. Its on windows 8.1 so 500 points lower than you guys! Not delidded and on IC diamond.

If I delid this, I can probably bench 4.8ghz..... maybe..

Although I am probably holding off on the delidding until at least May. I dont have the time to deal with the potential issues until my semester is over...

Now I really want to go back to windows 7 and bench the sh*t out of this....

Probably I have too much stuff open on the background....

Do you turn off almost everything before benching?

Turned some stuff off, 14925 Physic Score.

    @GTVEVO whats your cache ratio?

Come on guys, I'm on windows 10 which has the worse CPU performance from them all. :p

@tgipier You don't have to run the whole 3dmark suite if all your trying to show is the physics score. Just run the advanced setup and only run physics unless you're using the demo version.

BTW so who has the highest 3dmark firestrike physics score thus far so we know what we need to beat?

Also let's add cinebench to the list as well, version 15 and wPrime 1.55 to the list.

    So for CPU:

    3DMark Firestrike Physics
    Cinebench R15
    wPrime 1.55

    For GPU let's do:

    3DMark Firestrike GPU score
    3DMark11 GPU Score
    Unigen Heaven Benchmark 4.0

    For overall let's do:

    3DMark Firestrike Overall
    3DMark11 Overall

I live in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. It can get very very cold here.... And its a benchmark only clock :).

I am scared of using my outside air though because I might burst the pipes, thats how cold it is. My ambient is probably like 10-15c.

How can I get win 7 on this in the first place? I believe you have to clone the USB driver? Thanks @Phoenix!

your ambient is 15C less than mine! that explains it!

My CPU is delidded and I can not even get the 4.4 GHz fully stable without thermal throttling so far.

Haha yeah. I run 4.5ghz 24/7 with no problem. I run it at 1.21-1.22v VID. I definitely didnt get screwed on the CPU silicon.

    It's in the guide

    1) you need to integrate the USB Fix into the Win 7 ISO

    2) Then burn the ISO to a flash disk using RUFUS with the following settings:

    Rufus for BIOS-Legacy.png

    3) Then copy the Samsung NVMe driver onto another USB Disk to use it during the install / load driver, then browse to the location on that 2nd USB stick

all detailed instructions are in the guide
