I am using it at home only. Haven't carried it in backpack (yet to get a backpack which will fit this). It's like 3 KG, so I think it's comfortable to carry.

Thanks for the review mayuk, have been waiting for a review for this laptop.

Can you please test the battery runtime doing daily task (browsing, multimedia, documents, etc.) and using discrete GPU with about 50% brightness and auto fan profile? Would like to see how long it would last on battery for when I need to use it in class without a socket nearby.

How easy is it to use the integrated GPU? Would it be a hassle to change from discrete GPU to integrated GPU every day?

Also if you have Hearts of Iron IV, could you also test how long the battery will last with either the integrated or discrete GPU or both?

    Thank you.

There is video review up for this laptop, where battery test is done. Are you looking for something specific?

I haven't switched to integrated GPU yet, let me try that today and will let you know.

Sorry, but I don't have Hearts of Iron IV.

So after I had to return the ge73vr because of bad static noise with speakers or headphones plugged in, I decided to get the pa71hs and now I will probably have to return this as well. I notice from the start a weird buzzing or flickering in the middle of the screen. Then yesterday after watching a show on my tv through the comp's hdmi cord and unplugging it, the screen went black after spazzing out for a few minutes and a few restarts. Now I get nothing but a black screen when I turn the computer on. Any solutions? I still plan to return this computer anyway because I was not satisfied with temps. The left side of the comp heats up very easily even playing a game like hots. The cpu is only in the 80s max and I've undervolted too. I love sager products though so I was willing to deal with it but the sound and looks were better on the ge73vr. The screen though is much better in terms of colors.

Does it still boot in the background and does an external screen show a display?

The key board lights up when I power it on. When I could still see through the flickering screen, I set the tv as main display, but after a restart, the tv shows no signal and the comp screen remains totally black.

Do you have more info about the screen? A quick google search gives me only one result which suggest it's a 6-bit TN panel rather than IPS if the info is correct, although the name of the panel has "P" instead of "G" as in LP173WF4-SPF1 - http://www.panelook.com/LP173WF4-SPF1_LG Display_17.3_LCM_parameter_21056.html

It says it can only diplays 72% of NTSC colour space. Do you know if this screen can display close to 100% of sRGB and around 86-87% of AdobeRGB? The reason I'm asking is because I work as an artist with colours and photography so colour accuracy and representation is really important to me.

    Cheers

Unfortunately it does seem like there is an issue with the unit that the reseller will have to investigate.

I'm interested in battery test with integrated GPU, please do share the results when you have finished it.

Also, what are your thoughts on the fingerprint scanner?

does this model have uneven audio output? I purchased the Powerspec 1710 from micro center which uses the same chassis and it sound like audio emanates mostly from the right, like L channel speakers are offset more towards the right. Not sure if I received a lemon. Any input is appreciated.

I noticed the same thing on my notebook (from another reseller), I don't know why it's like this... At the beginning I was thinking it was fault on the left speaker, but it was not... When I installed the firsts programs I heard the "Windows sounds" and I turned my head a couple of times on the other notebook that was on the right wondering what was happening, lol

Does the stock bios on this model allow undervolting?

yep same with speakers from another reseler.
And i think i know why, its because of this "sub-woofer" its placed on bottom from right side.
If you close it with something, sound become centered as you can check. So only way to disconnect it i think or use headphones.

Oh there also another way, to force this "sub-woofer" play only exactly frequencies.
If someone finds a way to do it, keep us in touch :)

i am an owner of an eurocom - clevo P 370 ET laptop. Had 1 or 2 problem over the years (cant remeber now is it 3 or 4 years) like cooling fan or a key on the keyboard, but nothing serious. I am upgrading now to model reviewed here PA71HP6-G GTX 1060 6GB i7-7820HK from OBSIDIAN in Portugal.
Since I will be using it daily (busines) in the same way I am using my current P370ET, it will be an overkill in any possible way.
My concern is about gaming and heating. I will do some online FPS games (CSGO) and maybe others I skipped over the years (witcher), but I must say I am quite happy to play on medium to high settings. No need for ultra high.
SO back to my question. The model you reviewed has an i7-7700HQ CPU and as I can see there is not much of a problem with overheating during benchmarks, even after continuous runs, back to back. What confuses me is that I read online that for the same workload i7-7820HK produces much more heat. It was some kind of benchmark with input parameters very badly explained, but enough to make me wonder. There is an 7820HK user here also @jsstp24n5 so maybe he can help me also.
I will try to explain my concerns a bit better.
SO in this benchmark (I cant find it online any more) the following is stated:
    - two same laptops (no brand is given), one with 7700HQ and one with 7820HK are running the same benchmark (dont know which one)
    - I suppose the pasting is the same
    - CPU frequency - base frequency or auto (7820HK is not OCed), and no undervolting
    - benchmark results ...... 7820HK is better by cca 10% (as expected)
    - CPU temperatures during test ......cca 55 - 60 C for 7700HQ and cca 85 - 90 for 7820HQ

And this last one is what is confusing, it is a big jump in core temperature for only 10% benchmark improvement.

Is this the thing in real life also?
Is 7820HQ burning already on factory settings, nvm OC ?
Can you or @jsstp24n5 or anyone else please comment on this.

Thak you for your excelent review!

honestly this chassis is not vor OC, its a slim chassis.
it handles 7700hq well with repaste, but on "the edge"
and yes base clock for 7820 are higher, but this huge temp difference not explained by this.
both your described laptops with 7700hq and 7820HK were from same vendor?
Different vendors give you absolute different experience about clevos,
it can be different paste, base for example is not so good,
or bad contact with cooling system on 7820,
or just bios thing, which gives higher voltage for 7820 expecting it to be overclocked.
good vendor usually check things like that, or someone left fan speed on auto for 7820.

    I agree completely!
That is why I hope someone who actually owns the PA71HP6-G with i7-7820HK can comment or even post some "more accurate" benchmark results and more important CPU temperatures with some background about vendor or paste type...
