hey everyone, I'm in the market for a new laptop after my Asus mobo crapped out. *1 year limited warranty :(*

I thought I'd be getting another asus but wow, I stumbled upon this site and learned so much about about brands I've never heard of. Feels like the underground world of laptops lol.

Anyways, I've tried to do extensive research and I think I narrowed my choice down to the Sager NP8130 despite a few reviews of its speaker system but I'm willing to overlook that. *plus I can't afford any other brands with similar specs :p*

Now, I'm stuck between these four companies: Reflex Notebooks, Malibal, Gentech, Pro-Star.

I'm already over budget *originally 1000*, so I'm trying to cut down my costs as MUCH as possible with shipping and avoid BROKERAGE fees altogether!

Which of these companies offer FREE shipping as well as no brokerage? Or any heavy discounts that'll negate these ridiculous cross border shipping/brokerage fees?

What about warranties? Who offers the best overall or default warranty plans? After what happened with my Asus I'm inclined to get at least a 2yr warranty.

I'm trying to find the cheapest and most hassle free *pay everything at once online* company out there.

Please understand my skepticism as I've never ordered from anywhere else other than newegg.

p.s. sorry if my asterisks are confusing, my right parenthesis is broken on this pos backup laptop..lol

I don't mean to sound lazy but this 2002 compaq dreads opening new tabs without taking forever. So if any representatives from the companies above could leave me your email so we can talk figures that'll be very much appreciated.

Brokerage fee's aren't determined by who you buy from but who/how you ship. UPS will collect for Brokerage fees if you ship UPS ground. If you go UPS Express or Expedited it will cost more but they do not collect Brokerage fees. USPS is an option as well. While they also charge brokerage fees they tend to be a lot less averaging $5-15.

You will have to pay any taxes due (PST/GST/HST) at the time of delivery no matter which option you ship with.

^^ What he said. Doesn't matter who you buy from in terms of shipping/brokerage/GST/HST. Go with the one who you like the most price/customer service/user feedback wise :)

Reflex is currently advertising free UPS ground shipping as well as no brokerage fees. I don't know if that is a short term promotion or something that they will stick with for a while, but it definitely sways the pricing of Clevo laptops in their favour...

Of course you still have to pay taxes no matter whether you buy it in the US or Canada.

Wire transfers are very safe as they are direct bank to bank. Different resellers might accept different payment types but many will accept credit/debit cards even from Canada.

Brokerage fee's are only collected when shipping from the states to Canada, since Reflex is in Canada they can offer no brokerage fees. We U.S based resellers can't do that :(

check out the thread i made a little while ago that compared pricing of different resellers...

essentially they all end up being very close in price when you look at the final cost

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/res...641732-canadians-looking-buy-sager-clevo.html

for Canadians i would say malibal and reflex are your best options due to repairs being completed in Canada

for price from what i have found it appears pro-star is our cheapest option with xotic also being very close.

Brokerage fees HAVE to be paid one way or another it's just the rules of the trade and wether someone says "NO" brokerage pretty much means it's included in the price/promo. Check out my signature for the guide to buying in Canada for clearer information or please feel free to PM/Email me.
