XoticPC Order Placed for NP9170

Hello, all!

This is my first post here, even though I've been reading the forums for some time. I spent about a week doing research on resellers and finding out where I could get the best bang for my buck. I finally settled on XoticPC after seeing quite a bit of positive feedback and mention of them here on NBR and other forums. I also settled on the Sager NP9170 after watching the YouTube review that they posted.

Before I made my purchase, I emailed a few questions and received immediate response from Michael S at XoticPC, who was more than helpful with every question I had. On Thursday, July 12th, about two days later, I placed my order via CC. I immediately received an order confirmation via email and called in the next morning (Friday) and spoke with a very lovely lady (I can't remember her name) and verified my CC info.

On the following Monday evening, I emailed Michael to verify that the payment was processed and that the item was in production. He quickly responded by letting me know he would check first thing in the morning when he got to work and would update me. By noon the following day, my order was verified in Phase 2 (Production) and he confirmed a build time of 6-12 days. I was very satisfied with the response and I am now patiently awaiting my shipping confirmation. I will update everyone on the next step when I receive the shipping info. I has currently been 6 days since I placed my order.

Quick update: I received confirmation, this morning, that my laptop was shipped last night. That was extremely fast. It's only been 6 days since I placed the order. I was given a 6 to 12 day window for the build alone, which started Monday or Tuesday. Considering I ordered the 7970m, I thought it would take longer, but it looks like Sager worked out the production issues. I'd say it's a safe bet for anyone considering an order to go ahead and place one while queue times are low.

Sweet, I went into Phase 2 on Thursday so this gives me hope; to be honest I wasn't expecting to hear anything for at least two weeks (which still might happen, but I can dream, can't I?)

Quick questions
is that the stock screen or did you upgrade?

How about the hard drive? Do you plan on adding a second one later on?

 

Yeah, I stuck with the stock screen. I have a glare-type on my HP DV7 and I've gotten used to it.

I've never had a SSD before, so I really wanted to give it a throw. I have a 500GB at home that I will use as my secondary, but I plan on getting a Momentous hybrid drive down the road.

Did you order any customizations that would send it to Xotic before it's shipped to you? They give a broad estimate on shipping days just in case, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Wow your lucky to get such a fast order to delivery time.
I ordered mine July 15 and went into phase 2 July 17. I ordered all stock except I added ic diamond and 12gb or ram.
I plan on upgrading later on when i get more money. Hope I get mine as fast as you did.

 

I believe those are all upgrades they do on site at Sager. It may take an extra couple of days for burn in and testing, but I'll bet you get a shipping confirmation before Friday.

Yeah, I pretty much upgraded the wireless card to the 6235, downgraded the RAM to 8GB to 1333 MHz and got the lesser expensive of the two matte screen options... not sure if that matte screen is put in by XoticPC or not though.

Keeping my fingers crossed on fast build times either way!

 

I'm pretty sure you can expect to hit a phase 3, then. I believe the matte screen is done by Xotic, so expect it to ship to them before it gets to you.

Ok, so here are my final thoughts about the order as a whole. This isn't a review of the laptop, but I review of the service I received from the time I order from Xotic PC until the laptop arrived safe and sound in my hands.

The laptop is everything I hoped for, despite the issues some people are having on these forums. The service I received was bar none and I WILL be doing business with Xotic PC again in the future. I will also be referring any of my friends who are interested to Xotic PC. I feel confident that if I have any issues in the future, Michael will be my go-to man for help. I seriously doubt at this point that I will need any help, but who knows? ;-) I was treated with the utmost respect, even before I was a buyer. I received prompt updates from their sales support reps and phone conversations were absolutely pleasant and professional. Everything I would expect from a legitimate customer-service based business.

 

I had a bad feeling it would but thankfully not; I just got the e-mail that the laptop shipped last night, set to arrive on Monday.

Glad to hear the everything is going great for you so far, makes me even more excited for Monday.
