XoticPC 3 Percent Discount and Shipping Time Feedback.

Im going to buy a sager laptop and they offer a 3% discount if one pays by check, money order or bank wire. It will save me around $35 if i pay this method as oppose to credit card or paypal. I had asked them how long does it take for check or money order to clear and i was told it takes 5-21 business days. I have bank of america. Has anyone paid using check or money order and can tell me how long it took for the check or money order to clear? What surprised me was they said money order clears same amount of days as check so i thought that was strange b/c money orders should clear faster right? So it would take 2-3 days for them to receive the check or money order by mail, but how long did it take for the check or money order to clear? I have bank of america and i just assumed a check would clear in a few days but i'm confused why they mention it would take 5-21 business days which is very long.


Has anyone here done the bank wire option? If so, how much did it cost you total? I know my bank charges me either $15 or $20 for domestic bank wire but isn't there another intermediary fee thats not added? Thus if theres another 10 dollar fee, then its going to be $25 or $30. They did tell me bank wires would take probably 2-3 business days only as it doesn't take long to clear.


They told me sager laptop take 7-12 business days to make and another 3-5 days to ship. Can someone here who ordered from them confirm? And what laptop did you buy?


Is it worth it to save 3 percent since they have this discount? However... 5-21 business days is really long as thats 1 week to 4 weeks. Does anyone here think this is an exaggeration as i can't imagine it take that long for check to clear?

Also i read an old post about xoticpc but is it true if you get the 3 percent discount, you lose the free shipping?


Note i bought an asus laptop many years from them a while back but i dont recall if i had discount or not or how i paid whether it was credit card or one of these methods.

 

credit cards with 2% cashback are available - for example Fidelity AmEx... and you have buyer's protections there, I had a dispute with both eBay & PayPal once and both eBay & PayPal had to walk away w/ loss to the tune of $900 - not me, I simply said that I was not satisfied with their customer service in my dispute with a buyer (I was a seller on eBay - but "buyer" of eBay/PayPal services so to say), provided my credit card with message exchange between me and eBay and that's it... granted they cancelled my existing accounts, but I have so many relatives .

plus many cards do a promotion offering you $100-200-300 once you open a new one and spend... here you go... sometimes you can get a similar configuration on Amazon (not from xoticpc though - xoticpc will bump the price @ amazon) and buy there, Amazon credit card will give 3% towards future Amazon purchases... so to pay cash or equivalent for a notebook might not an optimal solution.

 

Are you sure about credit card? I asked them this and they said its only check, money order or wire transfer.


Also i took a look and sagernotebook.com also sells the same pc as well at the same price with the same configurations. So xoticpc is a reseller but sagernotebook is the main seller? Not sure if thats the right word or not? Is building and shipping time faster with them then xoticpc?

 

Checks and money orders do have the same clearing time because our bank where we deposit them can get it returned from the bank it is drafted on in that time period. Unfortunately with today's technology it is too easy to print legit looking documents. Because of passed experiences we have had to implement these clearing times. If you want to use a check the fastest was is to use a personal check. Many banks will post cleared images online where you can download them from your bank and show us that it has cleared then we do not have to wait any longer. There is also the secure payment option where you provide a card we can put a hold on just in case the payment is returned, if you do that then there is also no clearing time. We can start production once the check/money order gets to us.


Yes we are a reseller for Sager so our prices are the same. The build times are the same, and I dont think they offer a cash discount at all. When you go through a reseller you will get a better warranty and often times better customer service

Hi. Yes i would be sending out a personal check from my bank of america if i were to do a check. But if i were to do this, it would take around 3 days or so for you to receive the check and clearing would still take 5-21 business days as you mentioned? Whenever i write a check and its received by the other party, usually it clears very quickly as the balance is deducted from my checking account. So would that mean my personal check should be pretty fast thus it would clear less than 5 business days if you were to receive it?


What do you mean provide a card so we can put a hold on it in case payment is returned? So i would get a 3 percent discount on it this way once you receive the check and if anything happens, then my credit card will get deducted? Is that what you mean by providing a card?


Okay about the free shipping. So if i dont use that discount, then i get free shipping. But if i use that discount code, then i get only 2 percent discount if i choose free shipping correct unless i'm a NBR customer? I'm planning to make the purchase later on today online. So am i suppose to place the order online or on the phone if i want to ask about this 3 percent discount?


So basically if i do the check method and you would receive it in 3 days? Then once you receive it, you could just process my order and start the building? But you have my credit card information just in case payment is returned? I wouldn't have issue with this as i always have enough funds in my bank of america checking account. Because if thats the case, i would like to do this as there would be no clearing time besides the time it takes for you to receive the check by mail, is that correct?

 

Yes it should take around 3 days to get to us, we'll deposit it then it will shortly clear your bank. However we do not have access to your bank account to see that it has cleared. That is where the front and back images of the cleared check which are posted by your bank come into play. You can same those images then email them to us and we will then consider it cleared. Otherwise we do not have any way of knowing. If you do not provide those images then it could be 5-21 business day wait time.

When you provide a card we call that a secure payment. You still send the check in to us, on the day the check gets to us we deposit it and also put a authorization on the card for the amount. We will then authorize the computer for production that day as well instead of waiting for any clearing time. You can then provide images of the cleared check or wait the 5-21 business days for the check to clear, once it does we remove the authorization from the card. The disadvantage of this is you have to be able to cover the check and the authorization amount so essentially double the payment. The advantage is it gets the computer into production quicker.

Hi thank you for the response. I purchased the laptop earlier online and didn't bother with the check for the discount and just did the credit card payment as i rather not want to wait. Though waiting for the 3 days or so doesn't seem that bad but i just don't want some problem to occur where it delays it even more.

Sager hasnt provided any exact dates, just "end of october" is all they've told us.

 

Funny, I'm going through this as we speak. They just received my check today. However, they did knock it down to 2% when I used Free Shipping.
