Placed an order for the Sager NP8651(P650SE) from XoticPC.

Went with the default config and the following upgrades:
    - FHD IPS Matte display
    - IC Diamond Repaste
    - 2 Year warranty

    Did the payment via paypal

    2/5 11:40 am - Order placed
    2/5 12:00 p.m - Phase 0 (order processing)
2/6 10:00 am - Phase 1 (payment process, inventory gathering)
2/6 10:00 am - Received a mail notifying that my purchase didn't include an OS. Replied back it was intentional since I already owned a copy.

    Will update with the progress.

    Further updates:

2/9 4:50 pm - Phase 2 (Sager Assembly, Build, Technical Analysis, Stress Testing & QA)
    2/10 9:35 am - Phase 7 (Packaged & Shipped)

I am a little confused and concerned by this as it went from Phase 2 to Phase 7 skipping all the earlier mentioned steps/phases including sending to XotiPC for custom modifications and testing(since I upgraded the screen as well as requested for IC diamond repaste) all in a span of 16-17 hours.

Does this mean that XoticPC is not the one doing the above mentioned upgrades (IPS screen & IC diamond repaste)?
Or is this an customer cancelled ready for shipping build/returned laptop that got allocated to my order?

You should have received an email detailing the individual phases, only those that apply to your order will be experienced by you. Both the display upgrade and IC Diamound are done right there at Sager.

Yeah, I just got off the customer chat on XoticPC (Patrick) and he confirmed the same that the display upgrade and the IC diamond repaste are done by Sager. Somehow I was always under the impression those were 'upgrades' done by Xoticpc.
Apparently since my order doesn't have any xoticpc required custom upgrades , it ships directly and hence the skipping of the phases. Thanks for the clearing up my confusion!
As a feedback, I wish the phase steps detailing for an order can be more exact to a customer's order (instead of a generalized email) which would have helped me plan better when placing an order to get a timeline vs 'custom upgrades' but I do applaud the XoticPC customer service which is top notch and always ready at hand.
And now waiting eagerly for my laptop to arrive! (Feb 13th, Friday) :)

We hear ya on that and wish it was possible to make them more personalized. Doing that requires more hands on processing work for each order though and multiply that by how many we get daily, lots of added time spent on each order to do so which means we have to account longer processing/production times to accommodate such a change. We'd rather have your order move quick with general updates and clarify as needed vs making every order take longer to get out and not field any confusion.

Slowly for the tardy updates as I was busy the past week.

    2/13 10:20 am - Laptop Delivered

The laptop is really good and I am liking the IPS LG screen upgrade. Did a clean install with my copy of Windows 8.1 pro.
Had to search around for the drivers and wish those were linked from the XoticPC product page directly for laptop to save time. Not a big deal as I was able to find them with a bit of googling.
All in all, I would recommend XoticPC based on my experience with them as well as their excellent communication and dependability.
