**** UPDATE AT BOTTOM REGARDING MACHINE ****
Here is some background with my experience with XOTIC:
-Sager NP8255 ordered through XOTIC in the Fall of 2013, was a pain-free experience even after sale when I had a faulty keyboard and they cross-shipped me a new one in a few days.
First of all, I noticed that there had been some problems posted here with their service since last November. Although I ordered through their Amazon page, I still worked directly with Patrick in their sales department.
I made an order for a Sager NP8658-S (Jan 7th) and cancelled it shortly after as I thought I picked the wrong machine. There are numerous choices of Sager's from XOTIC on Amazon and it was a little confusing to me which one I wanted. After cancelling, I realized I did in fact order the right one first and without Amazon giving me an option to stop my cancellation, I went ahead and re-ordered another NP8658-S. I called XOTIC the next morning when they opened to explain what I did so they knew I didn't want two laptops. Patrick was very nice and completely understood the confusion I caused. Long story short, the first NP8658-S went through production way faster than the 2nd and Patrick contacted me to see if I would be willing to cancel the 2nd one instead as I could get the 1st one sooner. I was fine with this as both machines are identical and I would be getting my machine sooner. At this time I just received a notification that the 2nd laptop is in fact cancelled and I received shipping information for the 1st one. It looks as if I am getting my laptop 2 days earlier (Jan 18th) than Amazon's expected delivery date (Jan 20-28).
The story doesn't end there. I also asked to see if I could get the new Tomb Raider promo since I am ordering a machine with a GTX980M. Although Amazon doesn't list this as something I can get with my order, Patrick told me I should be expecting an email soon with the code for this. I was very happy with this news!
So far, my 2nd experience with XOTIC has been fantastic as well! I am hoping this review will help others put faith in XOTIC again if they had been turned away by some recent reviews posted here.
TL;DR - I made a confusing situation for the Sales group over in XOTIC and they had no problems working through them. In the end it looks like I am getting my laptop 2 days ahead of schedule. I also am suppose to be getting a Tomb Raider code for my purchase. I am very happy with XOTIC's service thus far.
I will update this thread once I receive my machine.
***UPDATE
So I received my machine yesterday and went about installing Win7 on it. It went without a hitch other than dealing with typical Win7 USB3.0 issues, but I was well aware of this beforehand and had a custom image ready. I ran a few benchmarks on it and it seemed to run without issue which was good. I noticed temps were just OK even though my machine had IC Diamond applied to it being an "S" model. I went to the trouble of re-pasting both the CPU and GPU with AS5 and temps are much much better. The paste job done by Sager was mediocre so I definitely wouldn't pay for IC Diamond in the future from them, but has nothing to do with XOTIC. I will re-paste again with something different once I have something on hand.
Tonight I intend on gaming with my machine in all its glory! It really is a powerhouse for the size and temps are fantastic with a good paste job. I appreciate all the help from XOTIC in my purchase and will definitely be a returning customer once I need something even more awesome than this.
