The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    I'm about to place an order for a Sager NP8250 (Clevo P157SM), significantly upgraded...and paying with the cash option. Is there a discount to members of the forum over the retail price listed on the website?

    XoticPC told me that Sager didn't approve the NBR discount on the current models.

    XoticPC opens on Monday, July 8th, so try contacting them to make sure.

    Does it matter which reseller I go through for the NP8250? The two I'm leaning towards are XoticPC and Mythlogic. Price as configured is the exact same through both companies, so does it matter which one I order through?

    They build the laptops (instead of reselling Sagers) and extensively test your laptop before it's shipped out.
    Only down side that I've seen so far is that with custom building and extensive QA, it takes longer to receive your laptop (worth it IMO).
    I'm on business day 14 and it hasn't shipped as far as I know (could ship really soon).
    The support staff is really fast at answering questions in my experience.

    Try LPC. I have been looking into the prices of the NP8250 as I might buy one, and I found LPC to have the best price for upgraded machines across all US resellers. I have not dealt with them before so I cannot comment on their services and such, but they respond to inquiries quickly and accurately, and they're quite reputable around here.

    I decided to go with Mythlogic after speaking with Josh and several others at the company. There were very helpful, and were able to answer every question and concern I had about my new Pollux 1613

    Glad you were able to get your questions answered. For anyone else interested we currently have our NBR sales suspended as Sager is running their own Summer sale which is shown on the configuration page on the models that qualify.
