Hi guys,
this thread will be documenting my experience with the purchase of a sager 6872S. I've dealt with XOTICPC in the past, in 2012 with the purchase of my 9370 and from what i recall it was a pretty smooth transaction. They definitely did go above and beyond with recommendations and listening to me blabber on about various configurations and advising. I had an issue with a cracked bottom cover and they handled the entire RMA process with Sager and was sent a replacement promptly.
This time around I dealt with Pat prior to the purchase, and hutsaddy after the purchase with a follow up question. They were also available on live chat on a Saturday, which made it very easy to get answers to various questions. I got very straight forward answers and what appeared to be genuine recommendations not simply suggesting the most expensive option. It is nice to deal with knowledgeable enthusiasts instead of some call center.
- MON 08/10: I've placed the order on and am looking forward to another smooth transaction.
- WED 08/12: Payment delay due to a shipping address/billing address mix-up, was handled promptly and professionally.
- THUR 08/13: The laptop is now out in phase 1 with a rush build.
- FRI 08/14: Phase 2 (Sager Assembly, Build, Technical Analysis, Stress Testing & QA)
- MON 08/17: Phase 7 (Packaged & Shipped) - scheduled for delivery on Thursday!
- THUR 08/19: The package arrived today. When I got home I noticed a few large dings on the outside of the box one even made it through the first box and made a slight rip in the second one. I'm sure it was UPS but it freaked me out. Once I did open the box the laptop was very well insulated and suffered from no damage. I'll do another once over when I get home today but from the initial pass the laptop looks great. My initial thoughts were "wow, the build quality on this is fantastic." I'm in the process of getting the system up and running and doing initial checks so far it looks like the gpu / ram / cpu are up and running. I will update it later today / tomorrow when I get around to more thorough tests.
