Wonderful experience purchasing P650HS-G through HIDevolution!!

Just like the title says.... just pulled the trigger a couple days ago on a new clevo..... I've always built my own gaming desktop rigs, but this is my first foray into the enthusiast laptop world. All in all I'm super surprised and excited at how capable they are for reasonable pricing. I now travel for a living and portability is key.

I emailed a couple times with @Donald@HIDevolution (all sent and answered same day) then ended up giving him a call that evening right before close as I had a couple more questions before I purchased. Donald was very pleasant and informative, and to my astonishment we spent a full hour talking about the industry, production practices, and best options to chose for my clevo. Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait to get my new laptop!

JaredJ, Did you opt for the light bled check and/or screen calibration? I am up in the air about having to spend for those items. What did Donald say about the longevity of the Liquid Ultra? I'd like to get my order in for a P650, but am still "fence-sitting". Congrats on your new laptop!

 

i didn't opt for either of those.... i figured i'd just roll the dice on whether the monitor had light bleed or not, and I figured it wouldn't be a huge issue anyways most of the time. As for the calibration, I figured if I wanted to do it later, I could take it somewhere.

I didn't ask him about longevity, tho he did recommend it. I did some of my own reading, and it sounds pretty great as long as you're not messing with it, since it's all metal.

 

Liquid Ultra lasts long. In fact, @Papusan can tell you all the details about Liquid Ultra since he swears by it.

When I had Liquid Ultra on my previous laptop, I never needed to repaste it during the 1 year of usage

Everything depends on whether HS fits perfectly on Die. The better the longer you can have same Liquid metal.
I applied Liquid metal on a scorching's hot oc'd 4930mx in my AW17. Same Liquid metal is now almost 3 years old. Applied early April 2014. Why should I use something else? I would still use it with bad fit. Just use a copper chim to close the gap and make the fit better.

 

The P6XXX series don't have bad fitting heatsinks

 

That would be awesome! What does that entail?

 

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct expirements on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling cortana, etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly
6- Restoring the classic Windows 7 Calculator and Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu

Just received my laptop!!! I ordered on April 11 and got it 15 days later... today the 26th.

They installed win Pro which I didn't pay extra for so thank you very much! It's great!

On my HIDevolution account page it still says it's "processing" which led me to believe that I wasn't going to receive it for a while yet. Definitely a pleasant surprise to get it today. Thanks again @Donald@HIDevolution

Another update, @Phoenix remotely walked me through a total cleanup up win10... amazing. It was hard to keep track of everything he did, but he cleaned out all the win10 bloatware, disabled their crappy search and cortana, fixed privacy settings, installed a win7 classic UI, among a myriad of other settings changed to improve system performance, did some stress testing, then backed it up and taught me how to use it. I tried to take notes as we went through the process to try and remember some of the basics haha. I would highly recommend anyone getting an EVOC to hit up phoenix and he will help you. I can't say enough about how great that was. Especially for a newbie like me. Thank you!
