Hi folks,
I have been fighting the 7970M GPU issue for the past 4 months. Today, I was totally frustrated with this whole issue that everyone following this board is aware of.
I put out a general call for any reseller who could help me with parts. I was willing to downgrade to the NVidia 675M or anything else to help me play my games on this crippled laptop. My problem was that I could not afford to pay full retail to my reseller for a part to replace the 7970M with it's present issues.
The Mythlogic retailer who is on this board replied quickly and through a quick series of PM's, helped me with my problem and offered solutions that would fix my problem. Here is the thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/656776-ask-resellers-questions-reseller-thread-28.html
I now have a NVidia 680M GPU with the necessary support items on its way to me and I am extremely grateful for the work of this Mythlogic support person to help me. Based completely on the quick and very helpful work of Mythlogic to someone like me who was not their customer for my laptop really impressed me.
I can assure everyone that Mythlogic will get all my future computer needs and I will recommend Mythlogic to all I know because they cared enough to help me when I needed it. Thank you Mythlogic.

Update:
I received and installed the 680M from Mythlogic today. The box was well packed with the GPU, both heat sinks, hardware screws, and a tube of IC Diamond paste.
My P170EM is only used for Lockheed Martin's Prepar3d Flight Simulator. It is the training/educational version of Microsoft FSX. With the 7970M, the sim did not even "see" the dGPU and I was unable to make the AA and AF setting stick. Furthermore, because of the underutilization of the 7970M, the graphics couldn't keep up with the scenery files causing all sorts of scenery loading issues on the fly.
After the install of the 680M and using the latest NVidia driver on the Sager downloads site, the sim now "sees" the 680M in the settings display box. I was able to set a profile in the NVidia settings so the AA and AF sticks. I also am getting utilization around 80% and the scenery files are loading perfectly.
I do not intend for this post to be a 7970M versus 680M debate. I post this in the hope that if someone else is running this sim under the same conditions as me that this will help them. Also, the support by the Mythlogic rep on this board and the customer service department of the Mythlogic office in Michigan was superb.
I'm off to now experience my simulator on this P170EM laptop the way it was meant to be done. Thank you Mythlogic.

The only thing I would do would be to grab the newest drivers off the nVIDIA.com site, the drivers are somewhat newer. Just make sure you do an advanced install and then click the "Clean Install" checkbox. Might help performance even more
Glad you are enjoying the card! -
