Indeed, very very low but it does happen occasionally. Most of the ones I have had die were ES for internal testing, not for reselling of course.

You would be better off ordering it from Europe, the shipping will be a lot cheaper! You can order direct from the Clevo service centers in either Germany or the UK http://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_contact.asp?lang=en if you don't have a Clevo SI or reseller to order one from :)

Lots of system builders speed bin CPUs themselves, for example we do it in several systems. But delidding would put any direct Intel customer's relationship at risk - regardless of the warranty effect, the relationship would be damaged :-(

Thanks. I will look on this. PS. I don't need to purchase bin cpu. Always got OK chips and I deliding self. Maybe the best way for me as a living inside a very expensive country, HaHa

Don't think so. From what I have seen the only time you see performance increases on benchmarks is if you either increase the frequency while maintaining or reducing cl, or decrease cl while maintaining or increasing frequency or add more usable bits to a starved system at any freq/cl... generally when you up frequnce
It is not you, rereading that it is not clear English even for an English speaker. I meant that the net result is ~ 0 gain your pulling the frequency up at the cost of access latency.

They have come down in the last few weeks, $399 at newegg and I saw on amazon for $349 a few days ago. Still that is competitive price.

Indeed, for God's sake I paid $550 USD for the 64 GB Samsung 2133 MHz. RAM that is in my current system when I configured it so this is a steal.

I will try to sell the Samsung RAM after receiving these.

Skylake appears to gain fps even at 3600-4000+ mhz ram. Will you oc the ram a bit?

Overclock the RAM? I am using 2133 MHz Samsung 64GB RAM at the moment. If I run this RAM at the rated 2800 MHz., that is by itself a huge overclock.

from my personal experience with RAM overclocking, while the overclock might pass stress benches and other benchmarks, it is not necessarily 100% stable in other things. Like for example, I can overclock my current Samsung RAM to 2400 MHz and even 2666 MHz and it passes the AIDA64 Stress Test and benchmarks, but if I play Need For Speed, after a few mins the games dips to 5 FPS and gets stuck at that until I reboot.

So if I cam able to rurn this RAM at 2800 MHz stable, I would be more than happy.

My 2800 MHz G.Skill RAM finally arrived at HIDevolution as that was the last pending component from the upgrades. Now it is being tested and if all goes well, the whole upgrade package would be shipped out today :)

Not to mention RAM overclocking doesn't do much of anything for the most part. If you increase the clock speed, it also increases the latency.

Well, the benchmarks I posted would suggest otherwise. It really doesn't make much of a difference for basically anything. RAM is so fast that you honestly don't even need faster RAM. More RAM, on the other hand, is always better because then you can use stuff like RAM disks.

Well I always go for the max RAM possible, in this case, 64GB. I only use 4 GB personally, the remaining 60 GB sits there for bragging rights. So does the RAM speed.

When I receive my new G.Skills 2800 MHz RAM, what shall I do to make it run @ 2800 MHz? Set the XMP profile to custom then profile number 7???

3000/16 should be possible ( higher mhz/lower timings ) vs 2800/18 and you should still see some gains from it 2676527.jpg 2676517.jpg

The package was shipped last night just before HIDevolution closes for the weekend, just like how they shipped my laptop last minute to avoid the weekend delay! They shipped it using next day air international FedEx for a very low price.

I should receive it by Sunday Evening (Dubai Time) since Sunday is a working day here.

Congrats bro! you got yours from HID as well? How was the packaging / quality?

The ICC profile is a bit warm at first, but if you get used to it, that's how the screen should look for 100% color accuracy.

Do you have the exact same screen model like me? check in AIDA64 under the monitor tab

    Yeap, the exact same model.

The display isn't even close to my EIZO 100% AdobeRGB monitor i use for work. But its pretty decent. The warmness is easily apparent when they are next to each other. But no worries, i used my Spyder4 Pro, and all is Gucci.

Packaging was great, i expected it to be bigger (the box i mean) lol. Ill post a thread on Monday or Tuesday. Gotta go pack stuff right now. But one i did do, was dump the BIOS and see if i can unlock it myself, turns out.. i actually can. Just fiddled with a few settings for now.
TED did email me asa the system got delivered that i can send my system in for the BIOS flash once i get back. I cant praise HIDEvolution enough for how much they accommodated my requests and the timeline i needed the system in. More in the full reseller review thread later on.

I saw in the rewiev that the best performance gains was from DDR4-2133 to DDR4-2666. I think 2666MHz is the sweet spot for laptops.

Not entirely true, HaHa - We do not have a need fo AC, such as those who living in warmer climates. It would have been great with an homemade AC unit bench as others (put the laptop on top). Here at home, it's not as easy... My wife and children force me to lighting the big stove. And this beast heats every room in the house. I can not be out for bench as there is very high humidity throughout the day and night. All the year. I really want a AC bench :p

you do know that you can easily swap screens on a Clevo right?

    See:

You can get the FHD screen and sell yous if you plan on keeping your laptop for a long time. Unless you can live with it till your next laptop upgrade.

It's been a year since I last looked, but I think there were no 15" eDP FHD screens for my clevo back then? And I can't use LVDS since that requires a different motherboard.

IMHO, I would only go for 4K on a 32"+ screen size and a minimum of 980 Ti SLI. Laptops are out of the question. Just a marketing gimmick this 4K craze is.

lol well I guess I am the only one.

Most people should just opt for 1080p. I haven't had any issues with anything thus far, whether it's scaling or performance(except in some games I gotta run medium settings instead of ultra to keep 60fps).

It depends on the usage pattern, not always a higher frequency RAM is better:

    - High frequency increases the maximum throughput (B/s) and it greatly helps "sequential" access patterns, for example: encoding/decoding video, loading textures on games.

    - Latency is the time the CPU has to wait for the data to arrive from the RAM chips, low latency is very useful when the access pattern is random and the data set does not fit into the CPU's cache, for example: loading web pages, fast moving game environments (the NPCs logic, dynamic and static objects)

Since current games does not have too much random access (maybe FPS can be more demanding, but I'm not sure), in my opinion is better to have higher frequency, just keep in mind that you won't be at the top of ALL the benchmarks :D

Totally agree with both of you, just to confirm it, check this
If you input the numbers, 1920x1080 and 17 inches, it gives you about 70 cm (29 inch), so at that distance, your eyes won't be capable of distinguishing a pixel from another. And even if the distance appears to be a bit far, if you're are using your laptop on a desk with an external keyboard and/or mouse you're probably even further away !
And all that is assuming you have perfect vision LOL
