I just got off the phone with a rep from GenTech about adding the free Liquid Ultra to my laptop order because I forgot to tick it in the options. He mentioned using IC Diamond instead because it would take less time and I could get my order faster. I didn't understand how applying a different thermal paste would change the build time by that much. Thankfully they updated my order. I hope that they honor the Liquid Ultra promo, of course I will check when laptop arrives, but does anyone have any experience dealing with them?

    I do.

Liquid ultra kind of has to settle. So retailers saying it'll take longer are being honest.

I had a pleasant experience with Gentech via my friend who ordered a P950HP6. Went off without a hitch and he's of course still using it.

I would wait longer and get Liquid Ultra. It provides better heat dissipation and lasts longer than IC Diamond only if the laptop has a heatsink that makes perfect contact with the CPU. Like on MSI laptops, this is not an issue but on Clevo laptop some heatsinks make good contact and others don't, if the heatsink doesn't make good contact with the CPU, then IC Diamond would be better since it's thicker so it would fill in the gap so testing has to be done with extreme loads like AIDA64, Firestrike, and some gaming session before the machine is shipped out to ensure that it doesn't overheat. On MSI laptops, just put Liquid Ultra and forget it. On Clevo laptops, extra testing must be done to ensure the heatsink makes good contact with the CPU if you were going for Liquid Ultra

CLU takes a lot more time and care to get right, and can cause problems that you wouldn't see with a more viscous paste like ICD, especially the less flush the heatsink is with the IHS. It will definitely take longer, they're not being dishonest about that.

Funny, I just ordered a few days ago myself and I changed my order from Coolabratory to IC Diamond to avoid potential conductivity problems and the above heatsink contact issues mentioned.

Not to mention I figured it would be better to maintain consistency for my own future repastes - I don't plan to bother with the hassles of CLU.

Ken and Co were great about accommodation to my wishes with my order changes and tweaking. They also added and honored my cash discount even though I forgot to add the coupon code on my order, saving me 35.00.

Just to be clear that was self imposed, not suggested by them.
