After a couple issues with billing, which were mostly my fault, I finally ordered a Sager NP8652 / Clevo P650SG.

I got the no dead pixel warranty and a 128GB mSATA with Windows 8.1.
I didn't get any other upgrades since I think 4K screens should be at least 24" inches to be comfortable.
I might upgrade to 16GB at a later date.

This is my first time ordering a non-mainstream brand, I am looking forward to trying this out. My 4 year old HP Envy 14 is still kicking , so I hope this one will as well !

January 13th 8:30AM : Order is placed and paid with Paypal Credit!
January 13th 3PM : Billing issues, couldn't use a cashrebate code with Bill Me Later, offered CC payment for balance
January 14th 10AM : No email from billing, so Derek S kindly helped me submit my CC information to pay for the balance
January 14th 3PM : Original order modified to add 2 Year warranty, payment with CC pending
January 15th 10AM : Waiting for CC card payment to happen after providing proper billing address on the 14th.
    January 16th 7:30AM : Phase 1 - Payment Processed and Inventory Gathering
January 20th 2:15PM : Got an email from Xotic stating my order was still in Phase 1. Yet email title was "status change".
January 21th 1:15PM : My order entered Phase 2 (Assembly, QC & QA)
January 22nd 8:15 AM : Phase 6 (Sager shipped to Xotic, should take 3-5 days)
January 28th 2PM : Phase 7 , shipping from Xotic. Just got the UPS tracking.
February 3rd 10AM : Delivered, looked good and in working order, need to stress test and check GPU

Congrats on the new order! Heads up that you might want to strike out your order number on the OP. Not good to have that lying around out there.

Billing issues again, apparently I couldn't use the cashrebate code with a Bill Me Later payment.... tried to pay the remaining balance with paypal but got an error message (website issues?)
So I responded and offered to pay the balance with my credit card to expedite the process.

XoticPC really needs to work on their cart/billing/charging options, make it less confusing and rule out such issues. It creates delays, additional work for your billing people and frustration for the customers.

Maybe setup checks to make sure certain offers are actually valid with specific forms of payment?

PayPal wouldn't be a cash payment method and so the cash discount wouldn't apply to it. We have this information in our FAQs and payment information page but there is no way for our current checkout system to discern payment method and cross check if the redeem code is valid for it. Issues such as this as well as customization options that don't work together is why we manually process all orders to catch the problem prior to it becoming a bigger issue down the road and a larger delay.

We've mentioned on the forums a few times now that we are getting ready to launch a new site that has an entirely new backend and front end and will offer such things as this check. Just can't roll it out until things are slow enough where we can afford to do so. Was first ready just before Black Friday but led into that busy season, then Christmas, and we're just now coming down off of the rush involved with all that. We do appreciate input as to what needs fixed and most issues people mention are things that have already been addressed with the new site revamp. just have to find the time to make it happen without the least amount of issues.

Thank you for the heads up.

Paypal still refuses to send my small payment to [email protected], not sure whats up there.

The billing person still has not replied to my credit card inquiry. Should I contact the chat service directly? or even call ?

Received an order cancellation notice and got a bit worried until I opened the email. I then realized it was for the 2nd "order" submitted to send my CC info.

Crossing fingers the main order gets approved soon xD

Glad this Derrick person is helping you out. Not sure if this is the same Derrick person I spoke to on the phone an hour ago but when I called to check my order status, this Derrick just gave the status and did not go out of his way to check if that laptop is at their office or not. Maybe I should be speaking to someone else. I was not happy at all.

And maybe I shouldn't complain but damnnit that order was from 12/16. I get it's not under their control but at least make an extra step. I felt I was shrugged off.

Hopefully Xotic won't destroy my laptop upon reading this post. I needed to be honest about this. Good day.

I am indeed the only Derek here. If I had the ability to check on that I would but I unfortunately don't. Once they arrive to our facility from Sager, so long as no more work is needed to be done with customizations, We get it shipped back out right away and update you tracking information right away. That'd be my only indication it's arrived if it had tracking information for the shipment to you attached to it. All I saw was the last update saying it shipped from Sager to us and with that typically taking 4-5 business days should be arriving today or tomorrow.

Sager does not send you tracking numbers when ship to your office? What happens if it still not shipped till 5 business days? SOL?

You are aware this is almost a month, right? Assuming no customization is needed, is one month eta your companies' norm for delivery? The way you sound on the phone seems this is normal and I should be expecting a further delay.

I don't recall your time lines specifically off hand just the conversation we had. i do recall looking through them and not seeing anything outside of the time frames we indicated though. Production Estimated at 7-12 business days, then to ship to us from Sager to avoid California Sales tax for you typically adds 4-5 business days, then shipping time back to you being the same usually.

As a heads up though, it's not a good idea to inject into someone else's thread for your own experience. If you wanted to start your own thread I'd be more than glad to help you through the forums if you like but the information I'll be able to provide is limited for your privacy. The holidays certainly put a big damper on most companies productivity, I can see that at my own work place (I make wine). But after a month I would be a little worried too :)

Yup, part of our card processors requirements. Have to have the billing zip code or they don't let it go through. I'll let them know you got that sent in

If a part is unavailable we'l list it on the configuration page as such. If something comes up and goes out of stock while in production we'll update you if it will be something that will push you outside of the production estimate provided. Otherwise the production process will proceed as normal.

    Thanks for the info!

Sawa "status change" email from Xotic on my phone and got all excited thinking my order was being changed to Phase 2. But in fact it was just a reminder that I was still in phase 1 xD
The waiting game keep on , lol.

Those emails should not be titled "status change" if there's no actual change of status :)

You've hit on something that's been driving me nuts for years ;) We've tossed around a few ideas but the way our checkout process is as it is now no way to make that different. Part of our redesign I keep throwing around as being near!

I don't show that you've opted to pay the CA tax up front so we'd be shipping to us and then back to you by default. Give me a call ASAP if you want to get that changed.

Shipping time to us is typically 4-5 business days, generally the 4 business days. So once it gets here it will ship back out to you which is another 4-5 back.

If you'd like to monitor temps too, which a lot of people do, a free program like HWMonitor works great.

Yes I will use HWmonitor along with Prime95 and Furmark. I do that for a little while with every desktops I build and of course laptops.
I will have to take a look at undervolting and try to run at lower temps. I don't care for overclocking. I just want a machine that will last longer and have less strain.

I got it earlier this morning and getting around to check it on my lunch. No dead pixels and windows loaded just fine. I am downloading Payday 2 and trying a couple monitoring tools.

Idle CPU temps around 45C, does this sound good ? My old laptop ran cooler while idle.

HWmonitor does not see the GTX980 so far. is that normal?

45C is good under idle. Honestly that doenst mean much, under load max temps is where your concern should be.

HWMonitor sometimes will not show the GPU in various computers. You can make sure you get the latest version, or what I do is also get MSI Afterburner which has never had issues showing it.

I have been running Prime 95 for about 30 mins now. The CPU has settled around 94C.
The CPU fan is surprisingly quiet at full load.

94C is good for Prime95, keep in mind it will be really hard to hit that number using regular programs, even ones that are CPU demanding.

    great thanks!

I ran Furmark to test the GPU temps. It ran at 87C for a little while then the fan quicked up a notch and it stabilized around 80C.

So far I am pretty happy with the temps !

GPU temps are a bit high tbh for stock.. I would repaste if you have the ability to do so.. I also think some GPU thermal pads might be missing resulting in such high temps... Also run these benchmarks under max fans and get back with the temps (especially furmark.. Your GPU temps are worrying me tbh)..

No those are for the m.2 drives, they are thermal pads.
