First of all, I know it's long, but just hear me out, I have never posted anything even close to making a complaint, nor do I ever get razzled enough to even make a big deal out of something. But this is from months back, and I am not just raging after reading my last email, this is just past tense.

I have always seen the resellers answer questions, ( especially on those " thinking of buying a new notebook" threads ) but either way, they participate in discussions, and I have always held them high. But you know, as soon as I need a part and not a brand new notebook, suddenly I get blown off like I have aids or something. But honestly, I have seen this in the past with other things, and it just kinda really makes them just look bad in the long run( ie reseller could be viewed a certain way in a future purchase decision based on this topic), plus I wouldn't buy a new notebook from anyone I just " tried " to deal with on trying to buy parts for these notebooks.

User upgradeable, heh, yeah I guess, but you don't get to return any parts you buy if they're defective since it's laptop parts, and they're just high risk or something. It's like when I tried to get the 6970M, this was before the 6990 was even in anyone's hands. No returns, but I have to pay $500 and pray to Cthulhu it doesn't die on me in the next 2 years, or arrives DOA. That's not what I'm here about though, those are just realities of what we have to deal with in the laptop world. Anyway, these parts I needed were available at the time... so I contact a few people, but funny thing, I never heard anything about anything after it was all said and done, I made phone calls, sent emails with items I wanted in stock, or that they would be able to get. Yet I got the runaround like I was a minor annoyance, not buying a brand new notebook. Yet willing to drop $500, I guess that's just chump change.

So I'm just calling the resellers out on this, I have seen it before, but this time it just got under my skin a bit more. Since then I have given up on even bothering with this stuff anymore, I guess I'm going back to the desktop where the water is just warmer, people just treat you better, you can actually buy parts  (can buy a GTX 580 desktop for $429, laptops are nice, but dang, it goes to your head after a while, I think sometimes we lose touch with things with some type of "portable" justification, but my laptop still dies after an hour of even web surfing...when Clevo gets me 4-5 hours of surfing I would be more obliged to pay.) So maybe when I'm buying a brand new notebook, I'll come back around for some A-list treatment, but for now, I'm just disappointed.

I did want to add one more thing, the notebook in my sig, has nothing to do with the parts I wanted to order with what I stated in my emails, and phone calls, I just wanted the parts. In the end what did I expect/want? Maybe just an answer? maybe even, oh I know this guy who knows a guy? I don't know, maybe I'm all about networking and helping others help others, but some of these retailers, just be wary, I would send them test emails about other small things before you order a $2500 notebook, see if they're worth YOUR time.

I don't get it. You're ranting because they weren't set up to sell you a spare component? Maybe because they're in the business of selling notebooks.

Try getting a hold of someone who is in the business of selling components.

    Try contacting Larry@LPC-digital for parts.

I've bought a 6970m directly from him, and it was included under warranty in replacement of what I replaced it with - a 460m.

I also was able to upgrade my screen afterwards to the 95% gamut without so much as a hiccup.

He's getting my business, let it be parts, or anything.

I am lost. So you wanted parts not for the notebook in your sig, but for some other book? And are pizzed because they give a warranty on notebooks they sell, but won't give the same warranty on a part they don't have anything to do with? What other parts were you trying to buy? You need to clear your head, and give us a better idea of what was going on. If you buy a part, you would get the manufacturers warranty. But I would not think you would get the additional warranty you get buying a notebook.

I think you should give us more info to know what really happened, not just the emotional venting (which I understand, but it is lacking in facts and information, and very one sided).

And even though they may have had the 6970m's in stock, Sager and several retailers pulled them for a reason. If there were issues, they would try to sell them to recover costs, but I see no way they would give any warranty on them. Maybe they told you you would have to cover costs shipping to the manufacturer? If I had stock that was (in your words) ready to die in 2 years or arrive DOA, I wouldn't offer you a warranty either. You go after the manufacturer. And it would appear that you knew the cards were unreliable. So how could you expect THEM to warranty it?

I may be off base, and if so let me know where and how, as I stated before, you didn't give us much to go on. But based on what you have said and written here, it seems you knew the cards had issues, wanted one or more anyway, and then expected them to cover you if they were bad, in spite of your knowledge aforehand. Kind of like buying insurance to cover your car 3 hours after you wreck it. Again, I apologize if I am way off base here, but you gave us the info, and I can only answer to that info you gave.
