I have a P170EM on order from XoticPC, I chose the Redline Boost service and I'm just curious how the overclocking settings are applied. Are they BIOS settings? If so and I need to reset the BIOS are the tested settings supplied with the laptop so I can reapply them? Or is it done via Windows utility? In which case, if I need to reformat the laptop are the settings provided so I can reapply them later? Or is it something else entirely that won't be affected by any kind of settings clear/reformat?

    hi davel_23
The Redline boost is software based. What we'll do is benchmark it and do a screen shot at stock settings. The we'll do the Redline boost until we fine the top stable clock speeds, stress test it to make sure they are stable. Benchmark again and do a screen shot of that so you see how much performance gain you're getting. We will also include the Redline boost settings we set it to so if you do reformat you can change them back to those as we know those numbers are stable.

We do use MSI afterburner for the OCing, so it is something that is attainable yourself, but we don't recommend giving it a shot unless you are experienced doing so. We offer it as a service for those customers who want the added performance but not the hassle of having to sit there and test it out over and over. When we mess up, we can get you a new system, no harm no foul. If the customer does it wrong, they then have an expensive paperweight that won't fall under warranty. We also warranty it for a full year to show our confidence in the clocks.
