The P650/670 line is solid and surprisingly easy to work on for having soldered CPUs and GPUs. Only thing I would have suggested is getting the Coollaboratory thermal compound for the CPU, especially if you plan to overclock, but the IC Diamond will still be more than adequate.

    Enjoy!

Yeah after seeing what others went with I probably would have gone with that if I had a do-over.

Nice order dude! Welcome to the P650 club and check out the owner's lounge if you haven't already.

S/O to @Ted@HIDevolution to let him see this.

I wouldn't advice you to choose Liquid Ultra. I don't know how is the heatsink on the P6xxx series but on my P870DM and P870DM3 it didn't have a very good fit with the CPU so a thin thermal paste like Liquid Ultra may or may not make good contact with the CPU, thus, IC Diamond is best as it's thicker and makes better contact.

See my results after switching from Liquid Ultra to IC Diamond here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-overclockers-lounge.788975/page-156#post-10240358

Also, Liquid ultra is a pain to clean for when you want to repaste and if you accidentally get some of it on the motherboard you may fry it. I wouldn't risk it.

PS: Congratulations on the order, let me know if you need any help once you get your machine. Welcome to the EVOC Team Bandwagon

Make sure you have screws to secure it to the mounting cage because the machine doesn't come with them if you don't order a 2.5-inch hard drive.

As someone who actually owns a variant of the system in question with CLU, I can assure you it works just fine. Without undervolting, the CPU will idle in the upper 30s and max out in the mid-70s under a gaming load. But again, IC Diamond will be just fine, so the OP need not worry.

As a P650RS owner... The contact is very good and temps with liquid ultra are consistently lower than IC Diamond. The problems of the P8XX series did not carry over to us.

Additionally on the P870 wouldn't a liquid ultra delid still be worth it? Then maybe put IC Diamond on the lid if you need something thicker.

Any idea what screws would work?
Are they fairly standard ones or a little different?

Did you order a 2.5" hard drive or SSD with your system? I didn't, so there are no screws in the drive cage.

    I ordered it empty.

It was in a little bag with the manual.

I took a look and lo and behold, there were screws. They must have fallen out of the bag because they were buried at the bottom of the shipping box.

So I finally received it today. Havnt had a chance to open the package yet. Needless to say I'm excited.

@Phoenix I've seen from other posts that you had some recommendations for setting up the system etc. Any insight?
