This is kind of a pre-review, but honestly if the laptop performs half as well as their customer support team, I'll be thrilled! They were so patient today. Answered every question I could possibly have about the ordering process, specs, payment etc. When it came time to order, I had major issues. First I tried to order a system on ebay, but I had just moved and changed my phone number so I had major verification issues. I gave up on that after about 4 hours of calling ebay/paypal without being able to sort it out. Fast forward a few conversations and a bunch of phonecalls later, 7 hours had passed by. Pat was very accommodating and gave me his email to let him know when I finished ordering so he could help me rush the order since I'd had such issues. (Which weren't xoticpc's fault at all, but he still wanted to make sure to make the customer happy)

I was finally able to get the restrictions on my debit card lifted so I could order. Jake took my order, and I immediately recieved an email that they had expedited the order at no cost.

Really guys, great job. Both Pat and Jake were excellent and I would not waste 7 hours of my day trying to order something if I didn't believe in the company. I have access to similar laptops locally, but decided to stick with you because of the great customer service I've received so far. Thanks so much. I'll update when I get my laptop!

So far I love it, but very confused as to why the ethernet port/audio ports are on the right side of the laptop. Definitely in the way! Wish I was a lefty. Any tips on optimization? I'd like to restore windows 7 look if possible but unsure how on W10.

A common way to get a Windows 7 look back is with Classic Shell. It's still 10 running but it alters window and menu appearance to be more like 7. For port optimization, there's really not much to be done about the ethernet, but using headphones with a right angle plug (or adapter) might help get them out of the way a little. USBs shouldn't be much of a problem since most peripherals don't really use a lot of juice or data and can be combined with a hub on the left side.

Certainly, and that's no reflection on xoticpc you guys didn't design it. Just seems odd to me that they would end up on that side.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if with the switch to USB 3.0/3.1c there was a rise in USB-ethernet adapters and they got rid of that port on laptops.

XoticPC was great, however I'm glad I didn't purchase the 30 day pixel guarantee. After about 2 months, I've got a dead pixel right in the center of my screen.

I've never had a dead pixel on any other display before in my life. Shame that such an expensive product uses a panel that's so prone to dead pixels. Many people who buy sagers/clevo's have said the same thing. Next time I will be purchasing a machine that you don't have to pay extra to guarantee you get a quality product.

Didn't they have a 1 year option? This pretty much guarantees that you will get a perfect panel. You said that these panels have been known for getting dead pixels before, so that may have been a wise option. Usually the 30 day one is sufficient otherwise.

The 30 day dead pixel guarantee is to assure you that the panel doesn't have bad pixels out of the box. As far as I know, 80% of faulty pixels happen within the first few days of usage, if not right away. It's rare for a dead pixel to develop after the first 30 days. Is the entire pixel dead? or is it a dead subpixel ? Or is the pixel stuck on?

This is correct, the vast majority of dead pixels show up in the first few days/first few times the screen powers on. We offer the year as well, but even when that's the warranty selected it's almost always used in the first 30 days, or at least was when I was working directly with RMA, I wouldn't think anything has changed since then.
