Ordered a P775TM1-G from ProStar

Ordered and received a P775TM1-G from @Prostar Computer with the following configuration:

I already ordered several NVMe, SSD and FireCuda drives so did not include any with this order with the plans to add/replace myself. I was visiting US (live outside US) and mentioned the folks at ProStar that this order would be used outside US and so I want them to test the system before shipping as any RMA would be a PITA for me.

I exchanged few emails and telephone calls with Chris and Eddie and both were very helpful and prompt with their email response. I even got a discount coupon being an NBR member

I did not get the time to check the system in US and have opened it now as I am back home. Removed the 1TB hard disk that came with the system and installed Samsung 960 Pro NVMe 512GB, Samsung 850 Pro SSD 512GB and a Seagate FireCuda 2TB. The included Windows 10 Home installation USB was straight forward and included all drivers.

The system is running well now (a bit hot for my taste but I will discuss this in the P775TM thread) and I am in the process of moving my stuff from the other laptop. I have owned high end laptops since early 2000 and lately my brand of choice was strictly ASUS [still have an ASUS G751JT (4720HQ/GTX970) and an ASUS G701VI (6820HK/GTX1080)] and this time I gambled with Sager/Clevo and impressed with the build quality.

I did read some reviews for ProStar on google and NBR before ordering and based on my experience of prompt and helpful support, I would definitely recommend them to fellow enthusiasts.

Sorry to hear that.. which model did you order and have you contacted Prostar for a claim?

No issues so far..8700k and GTX1080 generates a lot of heat so did few mods to keep everything a bit cool.

Congratulations man. Pro Stars presence on these forums is really nice and they are one of the better resellers out there.

Regarding the temps, that's to be expected from a desktop class CPU. Remember, these high performance CPUs are running in a small laptop chassis so it's good that they are even able to run to start off with. Now what you can do is try undervolting your CPU a little bit. If you're at stock clocks (as in, you didn't overclock), try setting the undervolt from the BIOS to a -40mV to start with and keep the voltage stock/adaptive

Then play a few games and use some apps to test for stability. If you are happy with your new temps, good, if not, try increasing the undervolt to let's say -50mV, always do small increments of undervolting as we wanna find the sweet spot between lower voltage but one that is still stable for every day use without crashing or giving BSODs.

I've already repasted the GPU and delidded, repasted and undervolt (-200mv) the CPU @4.7Ghz. Also using paperclip mod for both CPU and GPU heatsinks.

Perfect, and how are the temps after doing this? Make sure to test for stability like playing a game for 30+ minutes or opening 40 tabs in Chrome at once by opening all your bookmarks, that is very stressful. The reason I say this is because -200mV is a bit too much for an undervolt so I just wanna make sure it's stable for you.

 

CPU 75C-77C occasionally touching 80C and GPU goes 85C on full load.

PUBG and csgo play well for few hours with -200mv. Have gone through the usual benchmarks (3DMark, Cinbench and Prime).
