    Intro Time:

I'm in Canada so Eurocom is easily the best professional custom laptop PC builder to buy from! Haven't seen much Eurocom review, so I will do a full review of my Eurocom order :) Also imo their education discount is da bomb... Love their attitude towards college dorm/campus gamers haha.

The pre-order experience has been good, but I am quite worried about the quality of the final product... my previous RMA experience is not that great, they forgot to screw my battery back on before close the case... And their testing showed my cpu fan is running completely fine, which is not the case. Here is the post where I explains how the cpu fan is running weird, and how I fixed it just recently: https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...em-sudden-speed-drop-to-0-rpm/#comment-149807 . I must say the P650SG/P650SE case is very very very fragile, especially the screw holes which is completely plastic on the back cover (D face). I ended up buying the shell (C and D face) from taobao and change the whole set to the new case.

I'm using a Eurocom M5 Pro (980m) right now, and quite happy with the laptop after cpu fan problem is fixed. To be honest, the CPU + GPU TDP power limit, no NVMe, nvidia optimus, screen bleed, and various gimmick settings has been bothering me for a long time, that's why I decide to upgrade :)

I also wrote a very long and detailed hackintosh guide for M5 Pro (P650SG P650SE) here if anyone is interested, in fact I'm writing this post in OSX right now: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/g...capitan-10-11-6-full-hackintosh-guide.196012/

I upgraded to 4k samsung GSYNC panel, 2x8GB Kingston RAM, 6700K + GTX1070. Already purchased a Samsung 950 Pro from directcanada, eurocom is charging 399CAD for a 256GB 950 pro, it's better to buy yourself. Other than the SSD, everything else is very well priced.

    Pre-Order:

Sept 15, 2016: Order placed. Garry from sales department is quite friendly and helpful helping me choose between X4E2 and Tornado F5, I settled on X4E2 cuz of the fingerprint, easier access to hardware, 4k screen option, and Garry said the keyboard on X4E2 is supposedly better than Tornado F5. He also pointed out their X4E2 will not be in production until around 23rd. **thoughts : isn't Tornado F5 has Steelseries keyboard? I did see online people saying the key is very soft, hope the clevo keyboard is better.**

Sept 16, 2016: Some question and request of change. First I contacted Garry to ask if there is a way to track the order status, like when it is being assembled, and when it is in test phase, etc. I'm told there is no automatic system online to track that except email him for update. Little disappointed in this. Second I asked if there is a way to not have the Eurocom Logo on the shell, it is a no. I also asked Garry if I can change my order of 2x8GB 2400 HyperX to no ram, he said it is not possible because the product is in production testing. I have no idea what that means but i guess that's how it works. **thoughts : not allowing to change config after one day of order is a little surprising... I mean the laptop is not even in production yet. I guess they are sourcing the parts from somewhere else, that's why I can't change it. Thank god it's not some important component that needs to be changed...**

Sept 19, 2016: Ask for production update. I asked for an update on the order status, Garry got back to me saying no new update yet, still on the 23rd start production date. Also I complained about the CPU fan issue I experienced on my Eurocom M5 Pro, and how RMA did not help at all, he said it is definitely not the norm.

Sept 20, 2016: Asked for delidding, and 120Hz panel upgrade. First time doing a complete custom build, therefore I'm asking s*** ton of questions... Anyway today I asked Garry if there is service to delid my 6700k for me, answer is no. Also asked for if I can do an panel upgrade when 120Hz panel arrives, or buy a 120Hz panel from them and I can apply it by myself, answer is I will need to pay FULL price for the 120Hz panel, labour is 75. **thoughts : This sounds quite reasonable at first if you don't consider how some panels are very overpriced on their configuration page. Usually you have better luck finding the same panel on Chinese selling website for half of what they ask for(usually high end models like Sharp 4K panel, or 120Hz GSync panels. Their price for base model panel is very reasonable imo). And change it on by yourself is not hard as long as you have screw drivers and gentle hands to not break any circuit in the process (not everyone can do this I have seen it). **

Sept 21, 2016: Asked about price for spare CPU/GPU fans, Nvidia GTX1070 laptop game code program, and order update. First I asked about if there is game code come with the laptop, since Nvidia has the promotion that buying GTX1070 laptops will receive game code. Answer is 'Eurocom is not a part of any of these types of promos from nvidia'. Second asked about the CPU/GPU spare fans price, answer is $25 a pop. Order update: still 23rd to start build, and no ETA of laptop ship out. **thoughts : well no progress on the order yet. I got a bit nervous reading forum posts about orders getting delayed for 2-3 weeks, or the order arrive not fully assembled... No ETA is a big problem since I actually need this laptop after I come back from vacation next week... Let's hope eurocom can deliver a good service...**

Sept 22, 2016: Got an update email from John order fulfillment supervisor. Eurocom is getting it's X4E2 orders around next Wednesday (Sept 28), and they will ship out orders starting from next Friday (Sept 30). **thoughts : So excited only a week left for the laptop to arrive! I do have a important demo happening next next week when im back from vacation, so I asked John is there any possibility they can rush it out next Wednesday and ship it so I can get it next Friday. Got an answer back just now, John said it is possible, they will try their best to get my order out asap! Overall this is a good day, very happy that someone contacted me for order update. Would be better if it's automatic system that I can track ETA or delays, probably not worth the money to make such a system when u can get fast answer from sales or support by email.**

Sept 27, 2016: Ask for order update. Asked if the X4E2 has arrived for production, answer is yes they arrived last night, and the first batch of X4E2s are on the bench in production, the first batch will be shipped tomorrow. I asked if it is possible for him to double check my system can be shipped out by tomorrow, hasn't heard anything back. **thoughts : not much, if it can be shipped out tmr that is great news! I will follow up with John soon **

Sept 28, 2016: Laptop is built and shipped! Eurocom received their X4E2 on Tuesday night, and the first batch of X4E2 is built on Wednesday! I asked for rushed build and ship, so that I can get the laptop by Friday, and they delivered that promise! I'm not home today so I will have to pick it up at the UPS access point location. **thoughts : GREAT **

Actually, technically you can pay them $95 extra for a no-logo version but I suppose they just didn't have it in stock and may not be getting stock any time soon.

Oh I c, 95 is a little expensive than I think, I guess vinyl skin is the way to go for me haha.
I also asked if it's possible to have laser engrave logo or some other option, just really not a fan of the white painting logo...

but yeah if it cost that much I would just go to China and buy a clevo original A-B-C-D case for 50 bucks...

That looks pretty nice. Personally, I'd go only with a skin on the lid (not bezel, palm rest or keyboard) but I like how that looks. Where did you get it?

I bought it here on taobao: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c.w4002-11067054402.47.VSOr4d&id=41345645860
It is shipped to my friend's place in China and he brought it to me when he come back to Canada... A+B+C+keybaord skin is around 60RMB=10-15USD, which is just cheap. There is also metallic skins, carbon fibre type of skins available for around 100-150RMB.

I also asked for different pictures on A and BC, and they did as I asked, which is pretty cool lol. Outside batman inside spiderman, not a good choice no. I have another set with A-some type of sign + BC-killzone, also very cool.

These skin won't leave residue when u decide to pill it off.

I created an account just to let you know that i am looking at the same laptop at the moment. I am really curious about your review and experiences. I am not sure if I would take the UltraHD or the QFHD screen. Any thoughts about that one?

Hey bro, UHD is same as QFHD = 4K right? anyway I think you are thinking about Samsung one and Sharp one. Sharp 4K is IGZO has wayyy better color reproduction and contrast, less backlight bleed. HOWEVER the Samsung 4K supports mobile GSYNC, which in my book a way more important aspect!

Anyway Im doing a live stream on Sunday for unboxing and review of my laptop, come and join!

Ah, I see it now. Yes, I would go for the Samsung as well then where the G-Sync is supported. Checking the time of your live stream, it should be 22PM here in Europe. Are you going to record (youtubishwise) the stream? Because I have more thoughts, for example about the keyboard (difference between the Tornado and the X4E2) and why you wanted to change your 2x8GB 2400 HyperX to no ram? By the way: thanks for your quick reply.

Yup I will try to get the recording and upload the video. I have no idea about the keyboard, we will see. I want to have no ram because u can find 16GB good ram on newegg for around 70-90USD, a little bit cheaper considering the base config includes 2 stick of ram, and their hyperx impact is +60? Not a big problem tho, the hyperx impact is also good ram.

Can this laptop be underclocked and at the same time have turbo for example 4.2ghz?

I would love to see this consuming as minimum as possible battery and when plugged in use as much power as possible. I love to tinker to get better battery life altough it seems that this laptop has ****ty battery life. Im just thinking that is it possible to underclock this to consume power as low as 6820hk.

    I'm on -75mv undervolt, with oc to 4.5 4.4 4.4 4.4 / 4.4 stable.
6700K will NEVER consume less power than 6820HK. you can comparing a 95W CPU to a 45W CPU.

But it would be interesting to see the power consumption with lower clocks. Maybe i will buy P650RS-G instead. It has 6820hk, but a smaller 4cell 60Wh battery. Im not saying lower, but im thinking more like can i underclock it to a point where it uses max 45w. I can propably still use it properly as a normal laptop if i underclock it to let's say 2ghz???

Also now im thinking the possibilities that since this has z170 board then could overclocking be possible with modding with non k cpu's. That would make purchasing this laptop a no brainer.
Intel said that they will block it, but nothing happened and non k is still overclockable with desktop boards.

why would you ever do that, underclock 6700K to 2Ghz 45Watt it will be lower performance than a i7-3610HQ, and btw you will never be able to do that anyway, when you do underclock anything lower than -150mv, you won't be stable at low clock.

DON'T ever consider BCLK overclock, even if it is unlocked, you get 5mhz more x40 that's nothing. And it could mess up your uncore and memory speed.

Please if you are looking for thin gaming laptop, go for Asus GL502VS or MSI GS70 ghost pro. This laptop is designed for that 6700K oc power.

BCLK overclocking with skylake is different also why would you mess your uncore or memory speeds if you manually set them to normal values?

Yeah i noticed the 2ghz because i just tried it with my 4670k. :D Can't watch some youtube 4k 60fps video even at 3.4ghz. Seems like the optimal cpu freq. for haswell 4670k is 4Ghz to basic entertainment at 4k 60fps. I use this as a test

Im just thinking that can i get decent battery life with this laptop if i need it to somewhere and when i plug it to my tv i get amazing performance. You get the idea now?

Im pretty noobs with laptop's especially with gaming, but i know something about desktops.

I always think that people are way too cautios with pc's. I just wan't to get the maximum use out of every pc or any other electronics device that i own.

Let's not be rude. :) Thank you for your efforts posting this here. I really like to get info out of this laptop.

I have used my gaming pc in my tv, but when i travel somewhere it's nice that when i do basic tasks i can get decent battery life and when i want to play games i can crank up the settings especially if i go to a friend or relative and i wan't to plug my laptop to a tv and play some couch co-op goodness. Im OG as in old gamer. :D

I just would like to know how much juice i can get with this. That if it's even possible to get let's say 4-5hrs SOT with lower settings. Like lowering clock speeds and resolution. I like flexibility. :)

BTW. im waiting eagerly to seeing the youtube video. :)

Hey OP. What made you pick the X4E2 over the Tornado F5? I'm Looking at both but I have no interest in the 4K screen. Is that the only reason to go with the X4E2 because of display availability? Are the keyboards different, is the cooling solution better? Is it easy to install/remove RAM and Hard drives in the X4E2?

Hey, actually yes I do have some interest in 4k screens. But I pick up the x4e2 because they cost the same and the x4e2 seems better in my opinion I don't really know about the keyboard and the cooling system but I think x4e2 has better keyboard. I don't know if it's easy to install/remove. My main reason is the price.

I have been really busy these weeks, Im editing the video right now to upload.
Keyboard is ok i would say, the only problem is I have to have the control center to use RGB. I have tried a lot of method to make control center more user friendly... now i just gave up on rgb.

I picked it cuz of pricing. Upgrading Screen and RAM and even same power supply, X4E2 cost less than the Tornado F5 on Eurocom website. And also the fingerprint on X4E2 is very very good, just make sure you have the correct driver, as the driver on Eurocom website is completely terrible.

    Another quick update:
Delid 6700K, OC 4.4Ghz, temp went down around 10-20C, idle drop from 50 to 40, load (low fan speed) is around 70-90C depends on what software, no thermal throttling tho.
I think my liquid metal application is ok, but not thick enough... i will get more thermal paste on there and try see if temp drop.

yeah im very careful to put only .1 mm (just a tiny ball and spread on both side). i also re-paste the electrical tape on the 4 side of gpu die to make sure no liquid metal will go near transistors... but yeah i may try apply more liquid metal on cpu when my two stick of ram arrives.

Just to avoid any unwarranted alarm or displaced concerns about using it, Liquid Ultra wasn't the problem. His machine is alive again. Possibly some junk was stuck in NVRAM.

We offer low power 6700T CPU in Sky X4E so you may consider using it instead of underclocking 6700K

Hey OP, I'm trying to decide between the Tornado F5, the Sky X4E2, and the Sky MX5 R2. Would you mind answering a couple questions about your X4E2 now that you've had it for a couple weeks?

    1. How is the Samsung 4k screen? I have heard nothing good about that panel from complaints about uneven backlighting, bad backlight bleed, and just awful color reproduction. As G-sync would be nice but not imperative for me, these complaints make me want the QFHD Sharp IGZO screen instead (which I have heard is top notch) but removes the Tornado F5 from my consideration.
    2. How is the weight of the laptop? I have never owned a laptop heaver than 5lbs, so I have a hard time comprehending 7.5lbs. Is it basically impossible to use on your lap (I have a Surface Pro 3 for that job, but it would still be nice)? More importantly, its it manageable in a good backpack (including the power supply as you can't really use it without one) or is it just a pain to walk around with? I would have to commute with it daily using public transportation. This is why the Tornado F5 stood out to me as its listed 6.5lbs is extremely light for having a full LGA1511 proc. If the weight is more like a "carry to car and then back into house" weight, I might have to just concede the desktop proc dream and go with the MX5 R2 and its 6820HK.
    3. How much does it throttle on battery? It obviously will as all full desktop proc laptops do to actually last over an hour on battery, but could you run a Cinebench R15 single/multicore while its on/off battery?
    4. How is the fan noise? You probably don't have a good decibel meter to measure it accurately, but as you went so far as to delid the cpu you're obviously pretty competent and have been around gaming laptops before. How does it compare to other laptops/desktops you've used while under gaming load? I don't really care about the Prime95/Furmark temps/dB numbers as I would never actually push it that hard in my applications.
Thanks for your time! I love the possibilities that Pascal is bringing to the table, but it kills me that the two most important things to me (processor thermals/screen quality) are not discernible from spec sheets.

I am also eyeing on Sky X4E2. I chose this over Tornado F5 because of the additional hard drive that can be used with X4E2. I need it. Price wise no difference yet you get a increase in storage option. As an aspiring animator/video editor I need that. And Garry has been extremely supportive so far. Answered all queries . Nearly 50-60 emails between both of us in the last 10 days. I am ordering to India. looking out for someone who can bring from there. However I am worried about whether they will build properly and deliver me. so let me know your feedback OP, was their build and test upto the mark. It would be very terrible experience if I receive the product with some defect in India. I have to send it back and get it. Also suggest should I get it with OS or choose not to get it with OS?

Also eyeing a P750DM2-G trying to decide between that and a Tornado F5 as well. I like than the Clevo is a little thinner than the Tornado but it's a pound more and the keyboard are different and I hear cooling may be better on the Tornado. How do you feel about your laptop, how are temps?
