I just put in my order for a Mythlogic Nyx 1413-a. After mulling over the possibilities I decided that this was the best trade off for my allowance. I went a little over (100 USD), but I was able to get a few things that I wouldn't have been able to purchase elsewhere. Mythlogic had a few things that enticed me. They have almost no negative reviews on the internet (that my measly Google skills could find) and their customer service has so far been stellar. I won't get my hands on the notebook for about another month, and hopefully there aren't any problems with the payment processing.
First, I'd like to say that out of all the companies I emailed, Mythlogic responded the fastest. One company didn't respond (after two emails and they are highly rated), the other company sent a response that didn't answer all my questions (only responded after receiving my third email, another highly rated company). Not only that, but all the times I tried to use the online chat feature for the latter company, I wasn't able to connect to a salesperson. The first time I emailed Mythlogic, Charlie answered in less than a day ( he even had a bit of sarcasm and humor in his response). The first time I tried to use the "Nerd" I was connected in less than a minute. The answers were short and concise and helpful.
Payment was fast and easy. I chose to get the 3% discount with the wire transfer. After checking out, I had a fright. I thought I had somehow missed/skipped the information during checkout. After I signed into the chat service, I was again connected in less than a minute. About halfway through asking about the wire information, I received a very detailed email from another Mythlogic employee, Josh, with the transfer information. Josh explained that wire transfers usually go through M-F (9-5). That I shouldn't be worried if the money didn't transfer through till tomorrow. I had completely forgotten that in the US it is still Sunday (as it's Monday, where I'm at). I'm glad they were thorough with the responses because I might have assumed something was wrong with my transfer.
I chose Mythlogic, not because of money, but because they answered. The ability to dual boot Ubuntu right out of the box is a really nice option. I've messed around with Ubuntu, but for some reason I was never able to get it to work on any laptop. It's worked fine on my home built computers. I'm excited to give this a shot.
Anyway, I'm excited to get this notebook. When I have time, I'll update along the way.
Excuse my grammar and spelling. I'll proofread later. It's 3:30 AM and I'm tired, but excited.
Update April 1st (Korea) 2:30 AM-
Couldn't sleep because my upstairs neighbor snores like a hibernating bear... Or a braying mule. Yes, it's that bad. Bank approved my wire transfer and within thirty minutes of notifying Mythlogic, they said they'd start building my system.
Leaving for home in a few days, I look forward to the notebook.
p.s. I hope I'm not being April Fooled.
Update April 6th-
It's been almost a week and my order status hasn't changed. During the payment stage there were multiple substages (1 payment, 1a payment charged.. etc). Now that I'm at stage 2, I've not had any substage feedback. The previous stage was "2: Payment Complete." I've been idling at this stage for a week. The next stage is "3: Parts Allocation Complete." I find it a little strange that so many substages were in the first process (payments), but in the more critical stages there are less updates. No feedback from the associates on parts allocation, nor estimated build start.
Update April 10th-
It's been 10 days since my purchase. No change in the order processing at all. I decided to contact Mythlogic. Their response was a one liner that stated because of the model refresh happening, build times will take a bit longer than usual. Not too happy about that from their customer service. The average build time on their site states 12-15 but it can be longer. While purchasing, no one mentioned that the build time would definitely take longer than the average (and then there is the possibility of something going wrong). Probably something Mythlogic should have mentioned on their website. The website says that notebook arrival was estimated for late march (not late march anymore), so maybe they just haven't gotten any stock in.
Also, chat was slow. I was connected with the nerd and after sending my inquiry, it took a good 5-10 minutes for any initial response. No hello, or greeting like before, just that build times are going to take longer. They must be having a bad day.
April 26th Update,
I've been unavailable for a while, but here is an update. About the 16th the computer changed stages. The computer jumped from stage 2 to shipping in just over a day (maybe two). It shipped out (Friday) and I received it on the 22. So, while I was worried, the computer took just inside the average build times to ship. Upon arrival, the box was in good condition, a little wear and a dent in the corner (nothing major), but that is a shipping problem. They shipped the bottle caps from the beer I recommended. The computer was secure and looked like it was in perfect condition. That was pretty cool. I was satisfied about that, and kind of a little depressed at what happened next.
Blue screens. I booted the (through grub) laptop up for the first time and just after set up the screen went black in win7. I thought maybe I had hit the sleep button or it was just busy setting things up. However, a good ten minutes later nothing had changed, there was no response from any keys. I reset the computer, unplugged, etc. Then restarted. This time it booted fine, but just after looking around. I got a blue screen. I should have been prepared, because there was no paper and no pen nearby. I noticed there is an exceptional amount of "lag" after my next boot. It lasted a little longer, I was able to start a few windows, internet explorer, but everything is jerky. It's not smooth, like the hardware isn't functioning properly. Anytime I just let the notebook idle, it crashes.
I'll end up contacting Mythlogic and asking for help. I'm a little disappointed because this means that build times are going to take extra long, but hopefully it's just a driver issue. I've never seen a review about Mythlogic that has been DOA. I surely hope I'm not the first and that I'm just not seeing something. So far I've tried reinstalling all the drivers, but Mythlogic's website doesn't display any available drivers for my notebook. I can replicate the issue in both operating systems. That's actually kind of a bummer because if I couldn't I would have assumed it was a driver issue.
Restarting the device and redoing the driver seems to have fixed the problem. The weird things that computers do sometimes...
Update: April 29th
After finally getting the notebook stable, I am impressed, but at the same time wary. If I do need to do warranty work, I hope I don't encounter so many problems. At first, Mythlogic was delightful to deal with and they were very upfront. I don't want to write a review on a product that I haven't had for very long. However, I can judge a little bit about Mythlogic customer service. They are quick to respond through email. The chat with a Nerd service is really a sales gimmick. If I had thought about the cd, I could have solved my problem quite quickly in Windows, in a few hours. Not a big deal at all.
Cons-
-No drivers provided via website. I have a cd, but if I lose it or decide to leave it behind at my permanent residence I'm out of luck. (I bet this is updated as newer drivers come out).
-Website is nice, but not fully functional. The Linux front page doesn't work. I can't find any link on the main website to their support forums, though it's mentioned in the support section. A Google search found it. Last post is from 2011.
-Customer service is just above average, but this really remains to be determined.
-If you can't call, you are out luck for immediate help. Emails are quick, but the Nerd just refers you to email support.
-The notebook needed some quick fixing after arrival.
-More expensive than other Clevo counterparts for a product that will hopefully, in the future, impress me.
Pros-
-Delivery was extremely quick.
-Computer was shipped in good packaging and arrived in perfect condition.
-Customer service was great when discussing the purchase, what to purchase, and the steps in the build process.
-Mythlogic offered features that not many others offered (installing programs, dual boot, etc).
-Ability to upgrade without voiding my warrant (like an msata).
-Beer bottle caps and a thanks for my recommendation (Squatters Full Suspension and Boddingtons Pub Ale).
If I do decide to purchase again from Mythlogic, it will be because they performed some sort of exceptional warranty service and the notebook remained reliable. I would be comfortable telling friends to look into Mythlogic, but only if they needed the special options that are offered. I'd also warn them about the issues I had immediately after I received the notebook (and also that I was able to quickly take care of the issues without much help from Mythlogic). Anyway, I feel like I have a quality product and I'm happy to have made a purchase from Mythlogic. Even though it was more expensive (a little bit of a con), I think more attention was put into the system during it's build. I've made some lousy purchases in the past from other companies and Mythlogic (though not superb) was, by far, the best experience so far.

I placed my order a few days ago from Mythlogic and am also waiting. The one thing I'll note is that they said 12-15 BUSINESS days. Remember, there are only 5 business days in a week. So 5 business days is 3 weeks, assuming no holidays. That is from the point where payment clears and that's for when they ship and not when it arrives. This was my #1 hesitation with Mythlogic - no way around it, they are slow. But then again, they build and test it themselves. Last time I bought it from XPC and it arrived much faster, but needed to be RMA'd for repair immediately. There went a few more weeks. Even after that, I had stuck lit pixels on the display (granted, didn't buy the warranty). I don't blame them, they did what they could to take care of me, but this is why I decided to look to someone that built locally instead of having to deal with Sager.
All that said, I really hope this doesn't take forever because I'm currently living with a NP8170 that has a dead vid card. -
Hey
Yea honestly we are working on getting these out as soon as possible (with proper QA of course). And yea our first few shipments have been a little short, much to our dismay, as a lot of vendors have been noticing, so things are a little slower than we would like them to be for sure.
For the chat issue, that was actually my machine, my Chrome was auto-answering chats for some odd reason, so people were talking to no one, sorry about that =)Prema likes this. -
Thanks for the response. I've updated my review.

Hey
Sorry to hear about the issues, we have seen laptops get through shipping a little roughed up, even if the box doesn't look bad.. But just let us know and we'll be more than happy to take care of the issues. -
Man, sometimes I can be dense. I forgot the notebook came with a cd that contains everything. After some working around, I reset the device in both operating systems. This seems to have worked for Ubuntu. Disabling uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers seemed to work. Thank goodness that seems to have worked.
