I had a scooter accident less than a month ago that toasted my previous laptop of 7 years, an Asus x83V. It was not a powerful thing, but it was doing the job until I graduated. Now that I have to replace it, there was no point in getting a cheap one as I was going to get a beast when I had graduated in less than one year anyway. So I set off researching all kinds of builds from Origin to DS to MG and even Dell (for Alienware). But I never really could find one that I liked.

It's kind of funny, I had settled on a MainGear nomad 17, but when I went to pay, my bank had a daily limit to my spending and prevented me from buying the $3100 laptop that day. After calling my bank and arranging an increase in my daily limit, MainGear was about to close up shop for the day and asked me to call back tomorrow.

However, this gave me more time to think about my decision. During the time, I had come across many more re-sellers, but I was looking for a builder really. A good number of the companies allowed me to add options that I wanted but they were not dedicated builders. While researching, I came to a very interesting conclusion. There were lots of reviews for MYTHLOGIC, but non were really bad, as a mater of fact 99% were good. A feat that I thought would be impossible because there are natural complainers out there that would complain if they were have a good time. Nonetheless, every review I read praised them and their customer service as well as their attention to detail in their quality custom builds.

I was hooked, I had to have one now. So I ordered my custom laptop:
    with custom painted lid
    Clevo Shell P177SM-A
    i7-4910MQ
    16Gb 2x8 DDR3 800Mhz per channel
    880m Nvidia 8Gb
    Blu-ray BD-XL,R,ROM,DVD-RW
    512Gb Msata Samsung PM851
    Win 7 Pro

I can not wait until I get it. It is in step 6: QA and testing right now, and should be done in a week or so I think.

Everyone at MYTHLOGIC is very helpful and knowledgeable. They do not try to pad their sales, as a matter of fact, they tried to get me to downgrade several components. Jeff pointed out that I should go with the larger SSD as it would be faster and cheaper than have having to smaller ones in Raid 0. I was going to go with the 4x4 16Gb of 1.866 Ghz memory, but Jeff told me that the difference would be negligible and harder to upgrade in the future. At first, he was going to recommend that I get the 4810MQ instead of the 4910MQ. However, being in Optics, I use programs that build lens/mirror systems and analyse each surface which can get really cpu intensive. So we keep the 4910MQ.

Tim is working with me and my custom lid. He has taking my logo (my avatar) and is in the process of getting it painted in white, centered on a "Viper" blue background. I can not wait to see it.

I would recommend MYTHLOGIC to anyone. Especially those who have had a bad experience with ordering a custom laptop. These guys will make sure your laptop works before they send it out. They even game on your laptop in addition to running benchmarks and getting temp readings. To me that is the best feature they have.

That looks excellent. Yeah I've been really losing my mind trying to decide between Mythlogic, LPC-Digital, PowerNotebooks and XoticPC.
