    Hi guys.
So i was planning to get a clevo after my short experience with Asus G53sw bought locally here in italy.
    Im living in rome btw.
I was looking for a good performer with a good upgrade margin in the near future, as ive read about newer nvidia cards that will come out.
Also im more oriented to 15" (i had both 17 and 18 in the past, too big for me) so my choiche was something clevo based, p150hm.
After reading around i was left with a ton of questions, and i wasnt happy at all of the prices considering i was about to sell my g53sw with a good 400€ discount on what i paid on July of this year. I didnt want to spend alot of money in this upgrade, so i stuck my budget range around 400€ to be added to the money i would get from the G53sw.
After some searching around, i remembered about mySN.de, which is located in Leipzig, Germany.
Since i am in Italy the transaction would be smooth and without customs, i thought to myself.
    Heres my short review:

    Customer support:
Thumbs up here. Ive been sending emails, a ton of them, about a myriad of questions.
They always replied my emails fastly, sometimes even 2 times per day. Ive spoken with Miss.Ramona Thonke , Executive Assistant and Mr.Tom Fichtner of Technical Support.
They always replied to me with the best possible options and opinions. The general feeling of their replies is very very professional, high standards, thing that i appreciate when you are fond on the matter.
They always kept things simple and easy.
Sometimes i felt bothering them so much, specially because i was a bit nervous on the whole thing that i was about to do.
    Very professional, my congratulations.

Setup,Price,Payment methods, shipping and building time:
After i sold my g53sw on 3-11-2011, i was ready to pay for the configuration ive choosen.
What impressed me was the total price of my configuration which came with warranty, tax included AND fast shipping across europe.
    My configuration is:

    XMG p501 (clevo p150hmx)
    i7 2760qm
    8gb DDR3
    gtx485m
    DVDRW
    Intel Wifi
    Bluetooth
    320gb HDD Seagate
1080p Matte panel (which turns out to be an LG Philips panel)
    DE Keyboard
    No OS
24M Warranty Pickup and Return+6M Warranty on site repair if in germany
    - Total was € 1.447 euro including tax and shipping+Paypal/deposit fee.

I sold my G53sw for almost 1000€ so i was in my range.
I had a trouble paying in first place due to my bank blocking paypal payments, but they didnt had any problems about it.
They helped me troubleshoting my problem, also they provided support for payment (like sending back again the payment request).
Also ive mistyped my address and they changed it without problem after i requested it, just after 10 minutes after ive sent my email.
Back and forth they have been very nice and professional!

Ive choosen paypal because it was the fast and safest way to pay it. I would like to say that ive enquiried alot of custom builders and famous brands around, NONE of them actually offered me a Paypal option. Remember that im located in Italy, overseas builders practically put a big NO in front of my paypal request.
Ive had to pay €50 for paypal fees and deposit money, which is totally fine. The total sum as i explained above was 1,447€.
They received the money on the 4-11-2011, building and testing the laptop took around 2 days, sunday included, because they shipped it in 7-11-2011.
So on Monday 7 i received my confirmation email with the DHL tracking code.
On date 8-11-2011 the package was on its way, on 9 it reached Milan customs and on 10 it was delivered.
Amazingly fast! Note that they dont offere a Rush-Build option like many other sellers do. 2 Days is their standard working procedure and schedule, which is 100% guarantee based on what the Reps said to me. And im impressed that they actually were right!

Shipping box, build quality, perfomance, feeling:
The shipping box was handled with care by the courier.
They didnt opted for a big box, with the laptop box inside it (with the usual stuff like paper etc to avoid damage), instead they sent the laptop original box (i think its the original clevo barebone box) inside into another box, which is basically the same size of the one inside.
The external box worked as a "skin" for the original box; it is thick and very resistent. It shipped in great condition.
Everything inside was packed with great accuracy.
There are the usual manuals, the driver discs, and a free Nero 10 Suite disc as a free bonus.
The laptop had all the usual protections. One film-like protection covers the external lid (which has a big nice stylish XMG logo, same on the internal bottom part of the screen bezel), one the screen and one both keyboard and screen bezel.

The screen is beatiful. It doesnt had any issues with viewing angles like i had with my G53SW, which had the worst viewing angles i ever seen in a laptop.
Colors are vivid, the backlight is bright, theres no washing out or color fading.
Laptop performed great with my initial tests. The 485m handles the overclock quite well, its cool enough, at least it doesnt heat so much above my previous g53sw load temps under heavy overclock.
GPU idles around 36-38c, cpu around 42-45.
Max load temp for cpu is around 60c, gpu goes up to 75-80 on stock clocks when stress testing.
Under overclock it peaked 85c, staying on 82-83 most of the time.
Im also using a laptop cooler, a Zalman NC-2000. I think it doesnt help much, but i had it lying around. From my tests temps drops about 1c with it, not so much.
I dont know which kind of Thermal Paste they use since its not specified; maybe ill ask them next time.
Anyway in the end im totally happy of the purchase!

    Final Thoughts:
Easily one of the best sellers around, at least the ones ive had the pleasure to make business with.
Very professional, fast replies, ease of payments, speedy building, reliable shipping, awesome product.
I advice them without doubt, and their prices at least in europe are unbeatable.

It seems mySN is setting a standard for all European Clevo resellers. They deserve only praise.

They do, and their whole system is just amazing.
For European users there's no better thing than them.
Besides I've thoroughly checked others as well like Devil tech but with the same configuration the price difference was quite huge, dunno why.
Plus PayPal really makes things easier, I'm not suitable for bank wire transfers at all.

Thanks for the review! Since I've moved to Germany and left my trusty desktop behind, I had been searching for a relatively powerful laptop for a generous price.

After 2 weeks of searching the usual brands and not finding something to my liking, I've found about Clevo/Sager and Schenker. Their reviews on Notebookcheck and Notebookjournal are pretty positive, and reviews on German forums were also positive as well. Their website also gave me a very good impression, it's really plain and professional which hopefully reflects their mentality.

I've just ordered a A501 XMG (W150HRM) with following specs yesterday.

    . 39,6 cm (15.6") HD+ (1600*900) Non-Glare
    . NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 2048MB DDR3
    . Intel Core i7-2670QM - 2,20 - 3,10GHz 6MB
    . 4GB (2x2048) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1333MHz
    . 750GB SATA-II 7200U/Min Seagate Momentus 7200.5 (ST9750420AS)
    . DVD SATA Multinorm Brenner
    . Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (inkl. Bluetooth)
    . Tastatur DEUTSCH

It cost me 880 Euros with free shipping, which is actually a quite good price for what I'm getting. I'm relieved after reading your review, hopefully I'll have my laptop this week without problems! I'll let you guys know how it goes.

If you buy your laptop on the company you won't pay VAT. When I bought my laptop it was actually cheaper than anything in US because I didn't pay VAT. ;)

Personally I am currently having a bit of trouble getting details on display they fit in from Schenker. In short, they flat out refuse to elaborate, which panel they list as "matte fullHD".

I have no idea why, I have tried to explain to them that I don't want to buy a laptop with unknown display qualities, but all they suggested that I buy it and return it if I don't like it.

Could you please check with hwinfo32 or similar tool, what exact panel model number yours build uses? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ok, got mine today :) From payment to dispatch it took them one week exactly (maybe because I've ordered slightly different config and US keyboard).

And thanks for the reply about display panel. My also have LG Philips LP156WF1 matte FulHD panel. Very good panel - bright, contrasty, sRGB almost fully covered=>colours are very natural-looking, very good angles and uniformity.
The only slight downside I see is that its 6-bit panel and temporal dithering could be visible if screen watched closely.

I wanted a new laptop with which I could also play games with, so I started looking at Schenker notebooks for a while, did some reading (including this thread), and decided to go for one with the following specs:

    XMG A501 (W150HRM)
    • 39,6 cm (15.6") HD+ (1600*900) Non-Glare
    • NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 2048MB DDR3
    • Intel Core i7-2670QM - 2,20 - 3,10GHz 6MB
    • 8GB (2x4096) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1333MHz
    • 500GB / 4GB SATA-II SSH 7200U/Min Seagate Momentus XT 7200.1 (ST95005620AS)

Service-wise everything was great, got the pc in less than a week after paying, and I'm generally happy with the laptop. Really nice performance after being used to a 5 year old Fujitsu laptop, display looks great, the case has a nice and sturdy feel with a very decent keyboard.

My only concern are the temps, which are way high. I mean Kingpinzero above had no problems with a similar setup. But this, idle, the cpu cores average at around 55 celsius. Light use (surfing etc.) will make them go over the 60 C mark. Playing Witcher 1 (a game released 4 years ago) the cpu temps will hover at around 70-80. The GPU warms up slightly less, at around 50 idle and 70 when playing. I'm not an expert when it comes to hardware, but this seems like it gets too hot for any kind of sustained use. It's even uncomfortable to use as the case heats up at the spot where the left hand rests. The laptop is on a level surface and room temperature is not high so that's not an issue.

What to do? Anyone else with an XMG A501 here, how are your temps?

Those upper temps are definitely within specs.. The idle temps is a bit high though, what are your ambient temperatures?

Room temperature is relatively cool (don't have a thermometer but I'd say around 21c - less with the window open) so that shouldn't be the cause.

Could this be an issue of thermal paste still setting in? The laptop has seen only 4 days of use so it's more or less still straight out the box

    GPU temps are fine.

CPU temps are not. It's probably due to a poorly done paste job. If you repaste your CPU you should be fine.
