I will try to make this short:

Sep 16, 2014: ordered the laptop, sent Krystal at Reflex an email with a photo of my student card and she got a nice student discount (1% off).
Sep 17, 2014: realized my debit card wasn't having enough money in it, so I reordered with my brother's card. Krystal sent me an order confirmation, she forgot to include the 1% student discount, I didn't remember about that either, till later on.
Sep 22, 2014: after some problem with the payment process (my brother's bank denied the payment because I forgot to change the billing address), Krystal sent me a confirmation email. The status on Reflex Notebook page changed to building phase.

Sep 29, 2014: realized Krystal did forget to include a student discount, so I called Reflex. Got someone else answering my call, I explained the situation and he promised they will send back the money (should be around CAD $15 since the total order was ~ CAD $1500) then notify me via email.
Oct 2, 2014: received an email with tracking number: my laptop is being shipped.
Oct 10, 2014: received my laptop. -----please ignore this part--(Still haven't received $15.)----

To summarize, --- please ignore this part---(aside from the 15$ discount I still haven't receive yet,)--------- the whole ordering process was as smooth as it could get. Krystal was very (I mean very) patient with all my questions. Some advices for future clients though: if you want some answers, just call them directly (they have a toll-free number), emails might take a while before you got a reply.

So I opened the box. The laptop looks good. It has a large screen (17'') but isn't too heavy compared to my old 15'' laptop. I proceeded to install Windows.

Then I noticed an issue. The left USB port is not working at all.

It will not recognize anything (mouse, device charged through USB port, flash drive, etc.). The mouse won't light up, neither will the flash drive. My phone refused to charge via this port.

The other ports do work fine through. I'm a bit worried. Does this mean the port is dead? Is there a quick fix to this or should I send it back for warranty?

    UPDATE:
    - Nevermind they actually included the student discount for me, just that it didn't show up in the order confirmation. The order was 1578.10$ and I was charge $1562.31, so the 1% discount was definitely applied.
    - The port was indeed a faulty port. Guess I was just unlucky (it's not like Reflex is at fault here).
    - Reflex Notebook have set me up for a RMA. Good thing I have the 2-way ground shipping service coverage.
