Hello everyone, after lurking around the forum for sometime looking for a successor to my Alienware m17x R2 I decided to order the p1612 from Mythlogic on 30th July.

After hearing so much good feedback from them my confidence was sky high: every product or service they offer seems to be nigh perfect, so I just want share my little adventure I had with you all. (my English is not perfect so please accept my apologizes in advance!)

    My Spec
    Pollux 1612 / Clevo P150EM
    i7 3720
    GTX 680
    16gig Ram
    Glossy 95% gamut monitor AUOB156HW01 V7
    Plextor SSD 512g
    Killer 1103 Wireless Card
    Chiclet Keys
    Costed around 3200 USD

My main contact with ML was Eric who had answered most of my questions with good speed and was very helpful at the beginning, I made changes and added additional item to my initial order and he handled them all well, Notebook was tested and was ready to ship on the 18th Aug.

I live in a small poohole named Gibraltar in EU, I was given the option to send the laptop without battery via USPS (No batteries are allowed to be exported by Law since May 2012) and have the battery sent separately via courier or I can pay around 700 USD more to have it sent all together via UPS, I choose USPS + Battery option. (Now I wished I had asked for alternative courier options such as DHL, more on to that later) I thought they were using USPS Express since I was charged more than initially quoted.

I received my battery a couple of days later, but my notebook sent via USPS priority (no signature option selected) never made it out of the States, the custom held my parcel for 3 weeks before they sent it back to ML because there was no lithium battery label attached to it, so yup I was then a little bit annoyed after waiting for about 6 weeks since placing my order, my notebook is still in the States.

Eric told me they never had to put the label on before and will ship it out again asap, but I was in no mood to risk waiting for another month via USPS Priority International (no real tracking despite what they tell you) so I asked him if I could use the postage money and I was willing to pay extra to go courier, but I was not hearing from him again so I started getting a little bit worried so I tried my luck and Emailed their boss(?) Josh and explained everything to him.

He replied within a couple of hours and the first thing he did was apologized for everything, and explained that they never had to label no lithium battery before for their international orders, before admitting it's still their fault and he would personally reinspect my laptop and pack it himself, he was also very nice to gave me a 45 USD discount + the 125 USD I paid for USPS towards courier, he listed DHL Fedex UPS and to my surprise DHL was 500 USD cheaper than UPS so I went for that naturally, and my laptop arrived today.

After all that ordeal I thought the worse was over surely, I would finally get my hand on the product that they would have tested thoroughly on every aspect... even twice.

Well they forgot to send me my Slappa Laptop Sleeve (which they confirmed) No Biggie I thought still. but my main dissapointment after using MS Words at home for a couple hours I saw the backlight/brightness on my left hand side of the screen noticeably brighter than the right side, turned my lights off it's even more apparent. as much as 40%, red hues and bright on the left, blue hues and cold colors on the right. I tried to switch away from their calibration profile but it became with MORE noticeable with default colors. My Aw had slight bleeding on the edge but nowhere as much apparent as 1/3 of the screen.

Sending this thing back will cost me hundreds of bucks from the EU I guess I have to contact them again and see what they say and that's my story folks Mythlogic are a decent company in the CS field and Josh is a very professional and nice chap but looking back now I don't feel my purchase for a premium machine was justified. Sorry I did not double check my post for spelling - it's late and I am frankly abit sad...

p.s Chiclet keyboard is not as forgiving as stock keyboards, if you hit the edge or not press hard enough, the key might not register. International buyers make sure you use courier ;)

    Hey

    Thanks for the review! :)

On the subject of the screen I'll shoot you an email. We've seen this specific thing happen before and we've also seen it clear up with some usage, basically the LED's run down each side of the screen and with long international flights sometimes they get messed up. But we can certainly take care of it

    thanks!

Kudos to Josh from Mythlogic he replied to me with options as soon as he read this, I will let it run for a week and hope if the screen panel's uniformity improves.

    Wow an ordeal for sure!

Here is hoping that the LEDs start behaving, maybe its time to make them sit in the corner until then behave.
