After following a link in google I found Notebook Review and was shocked to see the posts about Kobalt so I joined just to put my thoughts across.
Thank you Kobalt computers
After one of our staff members pointed us in the direction of Kobalt Computers we decided to buy 4 laptops from them.
My health service has now bought 4 GS170 laptops from Kobalt and we were so impressed that we have now ceased our dealing with Dell and will be buying from Kobalt in the future.
Our IT department had specked out the laptops with top of the range specification and after a discussion with Kobalt they advised a cheaper option. You dont often see a company advise you to get something cheaper when they are in the business to make money.
The deal breaker was the professionalism and helpfulness of their directors and staff and secondly the 72% matte screens which we found perfect for the scans that will be viewed on them for our on call consultants. These laptops blew anything away that Dell had previously supplied.
There was a few weeks delay due to the screens being delayed from source but we are so glad we waited.
Thank you Kobalt Computers and we look forward dealing with you again in the future.

It's good to see that not all the news is bad, I'm sure that's reassuring to some people out there!
I'm trying to think of a way to ask this without it sounding like I'm being sarcastic... but I can't, so please take my word for it when I say this is a genuine question.
When did you order, and how long did it take?
I gave up when I hit 16 weeks waiting and 4 missed ETA's. I assume your situation was nothing like this? (but I'm sure you can also see why this left me with little choice but to give up) -
Maybe we should pool our orders together.
Buying 4 laptops at a time seems to spark Kobalts interest.
All these bad reviews show that if you're only buying 1 - it's likely your service will be appalling.

Let me guess, NWP = MrDJ ?

that is the initials of my hospital so im guessing one of the IT bods posted.
yes my hospital did buy 4 lappys. 3 are with consultants and one is on the stroke unit.
but of course with the bad feelings with everyone who posted on here no matter even if we gave dna samples as proof who we all were you wouldnt believe a good post. -
I'm quite happy to believe a good post, I believed the various good posts on Kobalt's testimonials page, and others scattered around the web, which is why I ordered from them in the first case.
The rest is history.
All I want now is an answer to my pretty straightforward question of "when are you processing/did you process my refund?"
I've been waiting a week for that answer... and have reposted it 5 times in total (in two different places - both very official channels I might add) -
did you post in the order queries under a different user name? if you did and even if kobalt would reply to you on here how are they meant to know who you are.
and i cant give you an answer to your above question as i dont work for them. -
I'm also waiting for a refund with no communication from Kobalt.
What does it matter if Dandelionz used the same user name? If it is the same name, does that mean Kobalt will process the refund faster because of the complaint on here?
It seems we can all agree on a few points:
- Some things were out of Kobalt's control.
- Kobalt had communication system problems a couple weeks ago.
- We realise this isn't an official Kobalt channel.
- It is a minority who are having problems.
But none of that removes the fact that Kobalt has thousands of pounds of our money and has not made any effort at communication.
NBR was obviously not my first attempt at communication. As everyone keeps saying, we have all been contacting Kobalt through every available official channel.

all of you have your own threads for your issues. Why troll this thread? Every business out there has customers that are pissed off about the way something was done. But those same business' also have customers that are thrilled with the way they were treated, what they received, etc. Just because you didn't have a good experience doesn't mean others didn't. I have ran a business and can testify to the fact that more is heard when something is wrong than when everything is right. The ones that are happy never talk as much as the ones that aren't.
i have no affiliation or ties with Kobalt and I don't even live in the UK. I will most likely be purchasing from Malibal in the US. Just wanted to put that out there for the conspiracy theorists. -
That was rather the point I was making. It's all well and good to have a rep here saying "this isn't the right channel for this, use the proper ones", but what recourse do we have when we DON'T get replies using those proper channels?
The two times I've asked about in an open forum it's either been swiftly deleted or moved, so really, what choice have I got left?
And as for the 'trolling the thread' comment from LukeS, you'll see that my first reply was a genuine question. I'm trying to figure out what's gone so wrong with my order, when other people's are apparently just fine, or perhaps that their's took just as long, and I just wasn't patient enough (though I figured near 16 weeks was pretty patient ). Isn't that the whole point of a forum like this? Getting information? -

I have no clue about Gentech as I have never dealt with them. All I can guess is that you are nitpicking my statement that every business has had an issue, which is lame. Not knowing anything about them, just knowing what customers are like, I would bet that if you asked them and received an honest answer they would also have at least 1 customer that wasn't happy with something. Even if it wasn't anything they did, but a mistake by the actual customer. Some people will complain just to complain.
You are misinterpreting what I said I think. I wasn't saying that every business is bad. I was just saying that every business has had a complaint from a customer and they can't be judged by those complaints without knowing the full story. How many total customers do they have? What percentage of sales to issues do they have? Were the complaints resolved? Etc. -
LukeS my bad, I did misunderstand, I almost bought from GentechPC.com (had a preorder) then ended up getting ripped off by another etailer for almost $1000.00 US on the ASUS in my sig. I realized later how truly honest Ken Lee was with me so anytime I can tout him I do. I hear what you are saying AFA some people are never happy and blame can be misplaced.
