    All

I would like to try to capture all the current outstanding delayed orders or refunds from Kobalt computers UK on one post. Firstly to see how many people are currently affected and secondly maybe we can try to resolve all our issues as a group rather than individually. e.g. trading standards, watchdog, group legal action

If you post your replies with the following information, I will summaries them in this post.

    |Order Delay or Refund | Order or Refund Date | User name | Product | Order Value | Resolved Date or Status |

    e.g.

    | Refund on 2 July 11 | palan | G150 | £1400 | Still Outstanding |

    From http://forum.notebookreview.com/reseller-feedback-forum/575744-avoid-kobalt-computers-11.html:

I've had the exact! same experience as #106, only I ordered a danish keyboard, for which I was still waiting until today.

Long story short, I got fed up with their excuses (keyboard in backorder at the supplier) and missed updates, eta's etc. So i called the UK Clevo supplier myself, and they were happy to ship me a danish keyboard today!

Kobalt Computers are nothing more than a crappy run company, with no regard for customer care or integrity. I can see no other explanation to the fact that I've been waiting 3 months for a keyboard the supplier would ship the same day I decided to abandon the sinking ship that Kobalt is.

The worst thing about it all, is that every time they promised an update (does "I promise an update no later than tuesday next week" sound familiar?) I would have to prod them numerous times, before getting any response what so ever.

So I asked for my money back (for the keyboard option), but right now, I regret that I didn't just contact my credit card company and asked them to withdraw the whole thing.

Avoid Kobalt Computers at any cost. Consider every alternative available, and for the love of god and your sanity, don't expect an order fulfilled unless you actually have the unit in your hands.

Should anyone question anything, feel free to pm me, and I will supply all logs, e-mails and other stuff as documentation.

    In a crappy situation aswell.
I will outline the situation shortly:

Had some issues with my G890 last year, filed an RMA, had it picked up and it was gone for about 3 months before i had it again.
However, the issue was not corrected and screws were missing from the service case. Filed a new RMA and had it picked up early May. For starters I was updated when I asked about the progress, but replies slowly stopped popping in my inbox.
Now, nearly 4½ months and a load of excuses later, I still havnt received my laptop. I bought the laptop April last year and since then its been in their possession for nearly 8months.
Yesterday I demanded a full refund only to be replied with another excuse - no mention about my demanding a refund. I bout the laptop with a VISA by the way - is a chargeback way overdue?

I think you've left it a bit long for a chargeback, 120 days from purchase is the usual limit. Don't worry though, if Kobalt don't give you a refund you can file a section 75 claim against your bank. See the link below for more info:

Section 75 refunds: Free protection for ALL spending...

I made and order for Kobalt G970X on the 17th of September 2011, there service was super until they charged my card afterward there was total silence.
I thought it was a scam. I was planning to call PayPal and complain but I though I should call Kobalt first I did today, got no response. Looks like I have to go to the bank and start a reclaim issue.

Definitely, the sooner the better. Next time choose a reseller that actually has some good reputation unlike Kobalt computers. I always wonder why people pay so much money for a product from a company they know nothing about.

All companies tend to start well, some will become good stable businesses and others like Kobalt Computers UK will resort to these practices, which in my view is down right fraud! So a company with a good reputation previously is not a guarantee that new orders today will be honoured.

I think quite a lot of us ordered at the point when Kobalt was already in trouble. But instead of doing the honourable thing of not accepting any more orders. Kobalt continued to trade and tried to fraud all these people of their hard earned cash to pay off their own debts. Their phone line issue, saying it was a BT fault was BS from the beginning. How they are still trading today is a disgrace.

Even large established companies are not safe. My other laptop purchase with Sony was also a nightmare! I ordered model "A" and they sent me model "Z", then they took weeks to organise the return and then took even more weeks to process my refund! But at least with Sony they had a number you can call and to at least speak to someone about the issue. With Kobalt there is no phone number and they don't answer your support emails or posts!

with kobalt....take a month still no laptop....luckily i pay with paypal, paypal allow us to file a dispute within 45 days after order. as that day approaches and no laptop and no update/reply, I file a dispute and escalate a claim. I was then get a refund and buy the same laptop from pcspecialist. guess what. 3 days and they finished building my laptop.

Kobalt: months still in queue (some customers have to wait more than 3 months) (cant phone em, didnt get update if there is delay, late ticket reply)
Pcspecialist: 3 days and waiting for dispatch (able to call them, have fasttrack option if u pay around GBP30-59 more, live chat support)

oh by the way kobalt turning off their forum...probably because so many people spam in their forum waiting to get refund...they also banned my username in their forum for telling other people to escalate their claim within 45 days if they paid by paypal...Kobalt said that it is not correct course of action....probably the correct course of action in "their eyes" is to contact them for cancelling the order and wait another few months for the refund... I rather escalate a claim to paypal and get my refund in 10 days rather than contact kobalt and cancel the order and wait for the refund for few months like other customers

    @palan

Man, if I ordered an 'A' series from Sony and got a 'Z', I'd keep the Z!
