EDIT: Donald@HIDevolution called me and we walked through the order. Very helpful and professional. Highly recommended so far!

Well, I probably should have talked to Donald@HIDevolution before I did this myself but I didn't and I feel like an idiot but it is what it is.

Anwyay, I'm just stopping by to share I'm excited about purchasing from HIDevolution based on the posts here and am looking forward to breaking this rig in. Going to be using it for VMs and Gaming but needed one that could comfortably do both as my Thinkpad W520 had gotten long in the tooth.

Here's the specs - going to expand the RAM and storage as time & money permit and hopefully this will last me another 5 years or so. Going to run OS on primary m.2 and games/VMs off secondary m.2. Any criticisms/critiques welcome.

I own your model's immediate predecessor, the P670RS-G. I've made several videos about it on my Youtube channel. There's a physical tour, gameplay footage, quirks/issues, and some tips and tricks that should hopefully make your ownership experience a bit smoother.

Interesting choice(s) on your hard drive configuration. I don't think I've seen anyone choose two 120 GB SSDs. At least you'll have both 2.5" 7mm SATA bays free for future expansion. Speaking of, when the time arises, here is a link to the service manual for the P670RS showing how to take it apart to access the hard drive, RAM, and wireless cards, as well as the CMOS battery should you ever need to fully reset the BIOS. The P670HS chassis is pretty much identical to the P670RS, so the information should still apply (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Later on, I can upload a copy of the Clevo Control Center software that will allow you to control the keyboard backlighting and power profiles, but disables its built-in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. XTU allows for Windows-based overclocking and voltage adjustment but screws with the computer's EC module, causing the fans to behave erratically.

If you're planning to connect your machine to an external monitor via mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort, buy this cable instead of using an adapter or some other cable. It's really high quality and solved the occasional flashing issue I was experiencing when the computer is connected to my 144Hz G-Sync monitor.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Best of luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the reply. There's a couple of reasons I went with the twin 120 GB SATAs - one is OS only HD - doesn't need to be more than 120 (and even then there's going to be wasted space). Second HD dedicated for games but I knew it could be a bit small but I already remove games when I'm done with them.

However, Donald@HIDEvolution talked me into going with twin 256 SSDs so now I'm really going to have a ton of wasted space on the primary drive lol. May use some of it for VM storage but not sure.

What can you tell me about the EC module / fan issue when using XTU? Do you know/have a guess as to what was going on there?

Not judging your choice, don't misunderstand. Just thought it was interesting is all. The 256 GB drives will provide you with better performance overall. You can even leave some of the space blank for over-provisioning, which will allow them to maintain peak performance even when they're otherwise full. If you got two Samsung drives, you can use the Magician software to set that aside. An extra 15-20%, especially on a drive that's less than 500 GB can make a big difference.

@Phoenix or @Prema would be better suited to provide the exact technical reason(s) why this happens. You can use Throttlestop for overclocking and undervolting, or just wait for the Prema mod to be available for this model in order to set your parameters directly within the BIOS.

send HIDevolution and add a note saying:

When installing the Clevo Control Center:

Edit the OEM.INI file in the Clevo Control Center's directory before you install it:

    Change SupportXTUFanTable=1 to SupportXTUFanTable=0

This will install the Control Center without the built in XTU

don't ask me how Clevo messed up but Intel XTU has long known to mess up the fan tables making your fans spin up to max speed even when idle and CPU temps are low

only use the Prema BIOS when available to undervolt/overclock or tweak nay settings

for now, once you get your laptop, I will help you setup Throttle Stop to achieve the same results until we have the Prema BIOS for your laptop model

@izidwho Yes, I did receive it and it's working great. The order fulfillment time was a bit longer than expected but that was due to a combination of my expectations being a bit too high (in regard to build time) and not getting regular updates. Donald@HIDEvolution was very helpful and understanding. As far as the pixel warranty, there's no issues with my display. I followed the advice listed here for them to check for bleed and it seems fine. Very impressed with this laptop.

    Hello mate.

Have you tried any benchmarks and what are the temps/fans like. I have had some issues with my version of p670hs-g and still awaiting for response from the repair centre. Suspecting the thermal job to be at fault. Was yours re-pasted? Whats your score in unigine heaven? :)

    Thanks

I own this exact same laptop. If I pay you, will you do this teamviewer thing for me after April 11th when I do my win 10 clean install for the creators update?

No need to pay me, I do this out of passion to the community. I cannot do it for everyone as it is very time consuming but I will make an exception for you to tweak the living heck out of your system, no worries.

the good news is I already have the latest tweaks for the Creators Update so we're ready to go

Tag me on or after the 11th.

    Hello,

I've recently bought a Clevo P670HS-G, but I am not so satisfied with the sound quality overall and sound issues.

    1. To make SB X-Fi MB 5 work, I had to install the realtek audio drivers from Clevo only and with internet disconnected. I can't use the latest drivers from Realtek.

    2. When I have my headsets plugged in, when I am restarting my laptop, I hear a click noise on the bottom right corner, just right above the input jack. This is happening every time only when I restart. It's like a fuse disconnecting. Why is that ?

    3. From time to time, when I am opening an installer which asks for administrative rights, there is a sound which is sharp and clear on my desktop ... ding, but on laptop sometimes that sound comes from low volume to high and wobbling. Second time if I open the installer it can be hear correctly. Or sometimes is not played at all. Why is this strange behaviour ?

    4. Also when that screen with administrative rights appear or disappear, my mouse freeze for 1-2 seconds, which is never happening on my desktop. Is this from sound drivers, from hdd speed is I have a 5400rpm one, is it from Optimus ?

    5. At 90% volume the sound is somehow distorted and the keyboard get into resonance and there can be heard small vibrations. Is it because of poor quality speakers ?

    6. The screen on top left corner has a backlight bleeding which I've noticed when closing the lid, if some pressure is put from behind, the screen is not so tighten and the backlight bleeding somehow get much better. How can I fix this with a DIY at home ?

    Thanks

    1) Why are you posting your computer problems in another member's reseller's feedback thread? [IMG] [IMG]
    2) Where did you buy your laptop? what are the specs? How can we help you if you don't have a signature detailing the laptop model/specs? or at least mentioning them in the post itself?
    3) I suggest you create your own thread here with more details for better exposure: Sager and Clevo

    2. Is usual, I gather it's a relay between the headphone and speaker circuit.
