    I ordered from Gentech

I knew I wanted a shiny new Clevo NH58AF1, mostly for Resolve. I looked at all the resellers I could find and Gentech seemed to have the best deal. Would have been nice to get the aluminum lid option but no one seems to be offering that.

There were some nice upgrades "free" as part of spring sale, like Conductonaut on the CPU and Cryonaut on the GPU as well as a free dead pixel warranty.

I passed on the "3%cash discount" because that seemed pretty sketchy and was concerned, not knowing the company. It was the best price though for what I wanted at the time. Some prices elsewhere have improved since then, especially on memory.

The website said 5-10 day build and 1-9 day UPS shipping with no mention of backorders or being out of stock.

    I ordered on 6/1.
On 6/12 I emailed to get an update and was told they were waiting on Sager and hopefully would be later that week.
Still no word though they replied to emails, then a few days ago they answered "still waiting on Sager, maybe next week"

During the back and forth I was told I didn't order an SSD but did order an OS so would I like to order an SSD. I had ordered an SSD and it was acknowledged when I pointed it out but then I'm afraid of what else on the invoice might not get done right or noticed.

I'm concerned. I know there are delays with Covid and this is an item in demand but I had no reason to believe they didn't actually HAVE the product to sell. I figured 2-3 week wait would be ok but now it's 4 weeks and they haven't even received the parts.

Any advice? Stick it out? See if I can get my money back?

Hard to tell, I havent had any dealings with these types of resellers personally since I generally buy used machines.

That being said I work as a kind of middle between Dell and one of their larger clients dealing with on average 3000-7000 machines a month and Covid has messed up the supply chains quite a bit with a huge number of items still on back order and some basic machines, like a Latitude 5400 simply not available in large quantities and recently been getting our supply from Poland versus Mexico where they are normally supplied.

That all being said, that is more reason to have better communication to keep your clients from getting anxious, especially with these large ticket items.

Man you really have some patience! I would have cancelled long back. As nice as it sounds, life is too short to be waiting for anything

I decided to ask for a refund and try ordering from someone else after looking at the Sager site and seeing guaranteed 2 day rush option on this item.

I sent them an email that was brief and to the point asking for cancelation and refund. The money was back in my PayPal account within 2 hours.

So at least they have that going for them

great! seems like they have some really lazy people working there with no passion for their job. If it was me I would have done anything to retain the customer. Good luck on your order with Sager.
