    Hello there,

I'm posting this to highlight my experience with HIDEvolution.

Machine acquired: Asus Zephyrus GM501GS-XS74. Will post the configuration later in signature after benchmarks.

In brief, you may have heard of Donald, the legend at HIDEvolution.
He truly is a legend. Everything went smoothly, from ordering, shipment and delivery.
Now comes the important part where I believe many resellers here can learn from:

Attention to details: For the first time in my life dealing with a reseller, everything I requested (be it laser engravings, etc) were handled to perfection. As soon as my work order for the machine was ready, Donald sent me a copy so I could verify all details. A small gesture that goes a long way. Even the BIOS settings I had requested had been applied, and the latest keyboard firmware and BIOS has already been flashed.

The machine arrived in spectacular condition, double packed. Everything works as expected, no surprises here.

    In conclusion:

I feel that I'd refer almost anyone to HIDEvolution, regardless of technical experience, and they'd be treated fairly.
At no point did Donald attempt to up-sell me anything (bonus points) or hold back factual material regarding the quality of a given system when it came to comparisons.

This is the blueprint to gaining a customer for life. Keep up the good work, HIDEvolution.

PS: Shipping to Kenya took a very long time due to customs clearance nonsense: https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/article/2001300152/state-row-with-cargo-agents-clogs-ports

Wow, what a great feedback. What I love about HIDevolution and keep recommending all the time is their consistency in always delivering quality products, having the best CPU/GPU Cooling Thermal paste and mods, and their superb customer service.

    Congrats again!

Been a member here since 2011 and this is my 1st post. Just placed an order today with Donald at HIDEvolution and so far I agree with everything that the OP has had to say about the order experience. It's a rare feeling when all of my questions have been addressed in an open and full manner.

I'll post my purchase specs in a bit but I'm impressed so far and congrats to the OP on your new computer!

Member since 2011 and this is your first post? Wow! Talk about being one patient lurker :D

Welcome both of you to the HIDevolution Gaming Team. As part of being on the team, feel free to tag me if you ever need me to tweak your machines.

These are the Ultra Male Tweaks:

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps like 3D Paint, Print 3D, Alarms & Clock, Feedback Hub, Maps, Groove Music, News, Weather, etc.
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling Cortana, Cloud Search etc.
3- Disabling Microsoft Edge from starting up automatically in the background upon reboot.
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly called Everything which finds any file you want as soon as you start typing even a few letters of its name and it doesn't even rely on the Windows Indexing Service to do this!
6- Restoring the classic Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu
8- Removal of the new and useless 3D Objects Folder that appears when you open "Computer"
9- Completely disabling Windows Defender from its roots (including all scheduled tasks and startup files) for those who want to install their own AV. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is highly recommended if you want the utmost security with the least system performance impact.
10- Updating all drivers to the latest versions in case they weren't up to date.
11- Disabling the performance hit that is caused by the Meltdown and Spectre patches recently released by Microsoft (optional, only if you don't mind having this security vulnerability and would rather have your CPU's full performance back)
12- Overprovisioning your SSD anywhere between 10-20% depending on how much space you can spare to ensure optimal and consistent performance at all times.
13- Blocking the Google Chrome Software Reporter Tool (which causes a high system load when it is scanning files)
14- Preventing Microsoft Edge from running on startup in the background
15- Creating a system restoration image using Macrium Reflect

    Hold up one moment.

Is this why Chrome suspiciously runs in the background at startup with no tab open, pegging a few cores really hard for a few moments? God, what I'd give to get rid of this!

It's either that or you need to disable this as well from the Advanced options in the Chrome settings (down at the bottom):

Had my computer for 3 weeks now, IIRC. Still madly in love! Compared to the $300 HP with budget SSD that I was using, this machine is a Ferrari!
