    Hi Notebookreview!

(First post, please forgive me if I make any mistakes. Will keep all details as accurate as memory and records allow.)

    Edit: Minor re-wording.

    Summary:
Very happy with Eurocom service and product! Communication was fast and helpful. Shipping was faster than expected. Would definitely buy from Eurocom again. Thank you Mark, Pauline, and John!

    Customer location: Rural Atlantic Canada.

Why Eurocom: 10% student discount made Eurocom the best value I could find within Canada, paired with the best build options I could find within Canada.

System: Eurocom M4 Ultraportable (Clevo W230SD), Intel i7-4710MQ, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M, 1x8 GB Micron DDR3L-1600, 256 GB Samsung 850 Pro, 2560x1440 Sharp LQ133T1JW02. (No other upgrades.)

    Free upgrade:
Originally ordered the 1920x1080 CHIMEI N133HSE-EA1 display, but after placement, Eurocom let me know the CHIMEI was in low supply, asking if I would like a free upgrade to the Sharp 2560x1440 display. After searching through this forum for info, I decided to go with it.

    Timeline:

June 3rd: Order placed in the afternoon. Received order confirmation soon after. Sent in details for 10% student discount. Was told the 10% would be deducted, and my notebook would ship by the end of the week.

June 4th: Received offer for free upgrade (see above). Accepted offer the same day.

June 5th: Shipment confirmation came in during the latter half of the afternoon.

June 9th: Notebook arrived by courier in the afternoon. Unboxed, installed OS, everything looked great and seemed to be working as expected.

Packaging: Notebook came double boxed, with thick styrofoam pads covering and extending beyond the sides. Didn't look like the outer cardboard box was treated unkindly by UPS, but the notebook looked well protected had its journey been rougher.

Product: So happy with it! I have been using this notebook daily since June 9th, for work, gaming, and travel, and everything has been great! I was concerned about high temps, but the internal fan (using Fn + 1 to set it to maximum speed) seems effective. The cooling seems to work evenly when the computer is raised at the back, raised at the front, or level (with air clearance beneath).

Lastly, a big 'Thank you!' to you, Notebookreview Community! This forum made the whole process so much easier. I would have purchased an underpowered, much lower value (but not much cheaper) product had I not found this place.

[Edit: Sorry for the delay. I was originally uncertain whether I had the W230SS or the W230SD, but t456 clarified that, since I have the GTX 860M, I have the W230SS. Thank you, t456!]

Hey! I stumbled upon this thread because I'm looking for a similarly portable yet powerful notebook. I was looking at the MSI GE40 and the Gigabyte P34W, but the 10% discount seems like a steal! Even though I would rather have a 14" over a 13", I think the difference will be negligible and it seems like those two machines are either too hot or too expensive.

Thank you, I'll mostly get the M4 as well!

The only difference between SS and SD is either onboard 860M or 960M (different motherboard), there's nothing else besides that. So you've received a W230SS. The extra vent is probably an upgraded bottom cover, so you'd find them with later SS models too.

Lovely laptop, btw; 13.3" and cpu still upgradable (to 4940MX). Not to mention 8TB of potential storage and 2x2 RAID 0/1 to boot.

Glad to hear you had a good experience with Eurocom. I just recently(2 days ago) ordered an M5 Pro from them. So reviews like these give me some hope. It seems the older reviews of Eurocom arent very good yet the more recent ones are great. I assume they stepped up their customer service and all. Also i keep seeing more and more people getting their laptops shipped from Eurocom within a 2-3 days after ordering. Amazing turn around. Also they tend to be cheaper than reflex especially with student discount.

Good to see their reputation has turned around.

Yea, got my M5 Pro from them back in May. I liked their very descriptive drop-down configuraton system. I price matched and also qualified for 10% educational discount. Shipped very quickly, ordered over weekend had it by mid-week. Great out of the box, enjoy it very much. If you use it, you also get a TPM 2.0 (encryption device) in the M5Pro; I know of no other Clevo/Sager version of this model that carries it. I've only needed to use after-sales service once to email-request a new BIOS/EC and they responded within 24hrs. So far so good with them, can't complain. Another neat perk is much later, if you want another Eurocom system you can trade in your old Eurocom and get a discount toward the new one.

Only minor nitpick is if you order from U.S. using a Visa card, Visa takes a stupid :p fee (small % of order) for an international order. Otherwise, hopefully you enjoy your order experience and the system like I did/do.

Did you get an email from them when it was shipped? Or did you have to email them for updates every day?

The order confirmation attachment I received when I ordered included an "expected ship date." Then, yes, I did get an email with a shipping confirmation (including tracking number) when the notebook had shipped.
