So I posted on here a few days back. I was looking for advice on a system to get.

Based on the feedback I got here and on a few other forums I decided to go with the Eurocom M3. Thanks a lot for the help NBR guys!

    Here's my configuration.

    13.3" fhd display
Core i5-4200M (probabky upgrade this later when I have some more $$$$)
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M
    8 GB
    1 TB storage
    802.11 wifi

I got a pretty low end configuration with a 10% student discount. I have had it for a few days now and I am quite impressed by its speed, performance and small size. It is small enough to easily fit it in to my backpack its only 13”. With a full hd 1920x1080 screen it is quite sharp with a high pixel density. I haven’t benchmarked it or anything I am sure those are easy enough to find online.

I’ve taken a few photos from their website and included them so for those of you who are not familiar with the system have an idea what I am talking about. EUROCOM Model Images

The purchase process was quite smooth, I sent my configuration in and then sent them a photo of my student card and bam 10% off. Not too shabby at all. No complaints so far. I’m not too technical so I may be coming back for some expert NBR advice. I have thought about upgrading the processor in the future when I get some more money, I'll keep you guys posted.

I too tried getting the M3 - primarily because I hoped to combine the black friday gaming laptop junky -10% discount with the student -10%...which would have been super awesome, but alas they denied it so I cancelled the order (same configuration as yours).

One thing that really really annoyed me was the the i7-4700mq upgrade cost - $200 (vs ~$80 everywhere else). For 4200M, they offer great price without any doubt, but I know I will always have the 'should've gotten 4 cores' regret when waiting for some data processing/encoding to finish. And no point in buying CPU later since its nearly $400 tray cost assuming you can find it.

    Couple questions about general feel:
    1) Is the eurocom logo as big and 'shiny' as it appears on the pictures? Seems to be a bit flashy, would be nice to remove it completely - is that feasible to do yourself? (no option to do so on order page)

    2) Carrying - is it portable enough or even too portable? Does the thickness create any problems carrying it around? As in, you are carrying something that doesn't quite take up whole backpack width, but it sticks out due to thickness, so if you put it in section closest to your back, it gets uncomfortable pretty fast. I had that issue with a netbook, and was annoying as hell.

    3) Decent to work on by itself, or would you say external screen is a must?

hahah ya combining two 10% discounts would be awesome.

Ya, I thought about the 4700, i was close to getting it.

1-The logo isnt really shiny. Its just white. I wouldnt try to remove it myself but I assume you could ask them to ship it without a logo.

2-I would say it is quite portable, its only 13 inches so its quite small. I havent had trouble fitting in any of my bags.

3-Screen is a little small but that is what you get with such a compact system, I wouldnt recommend working on it for 9 hours straight every day but I guess that is the trade off for such a small system.

How much did it cost and what proof did they ask for the student discount?

It came to $979 - 10% (97.9) for $881 and they calibrated my screen for free.

I called them, talked to one of their sales people and they asked that I send them a photo of my student card. Quite easy really.

Old threat but just wondering how your experience with Eurocom was and how did your discount work? Do they send you a coupon after proving?
I live on Ottawa and going to University next year, so I was thinking of buying the Eurocom m4 but I've heard many bad things about Eurocom.. mainly from the past though. Wondering of they have changed

Carleton for computer systems engineering :)
Was the $881 before or after tax? And would I be able to bargain if I called to talk to a sales Rep or do you think it's pointless?
