Before I start, want to first write a thank you to sicily428 for introducing me to OBSIDIAN PC as a option when I first came to the forum. Secondly sorry, in advance to all you grammar nazis out there, english is not my native, thirdly sorry for the first posting was an accident and didnt even see that it posted, 4thly it will be a long post.

So where to start, heres my clevo (im not a photographer so pics arent pretty :p):

    Clevo pic 1.jpg

    Clevo pic 2.jpg

Now that I see the pics, would probably be best to delete them, it is waaay more prettier live. Anywho, Its a i7 7700k, gtx 1080, 16 gb RAM (ripjaw 3k mhz), 500 gb ssd Samsung 960 evo, 1TB sshd Firecuda.

First something about the Clevo. Hardware inside speaks for itself. Its strongly build, no cracling noises when you open or close the lid. Keyboard is realy solid, rgb colour spectre makes it even prettier, it doesnt bend when you press it with a bit of a force which is really improtant for me cause I am "bigboned" :)P) with heavy hands and in the middle of a gaming fight sometimes I forget that I am dealing with a plastic and not iron :). Screen is 75 hz, gsync, and really glad right now I didnt get the 120 hz one, per OBSIDIAN instruction, cause screen colours are amazing. Did an 3 hour Overwatch testing on max performance (setting 1 in TS Obsidian Tool, it gets cpu to 4.5 ghz, temps were around 86ish, but more on that later) and keyboard didnt get as hot as I expected it to be, it was warmish which was amazing with the temps HWMonitor was showing. Likewise it wasnt as loud as expected, fans are at automatic setting. Thought it would go full airplaine lifting mode but it stayed, at least for me, quite silent. I did the max fan setting just to hear the difference and the difference was huge, on 100% fan spinning, it did sound like its going to fly away.

Software wise have to say cudos to Obsidian crew, their apps are amazing from my point of view (The link to the pic: http://imgur.com/TFCk95z ). The Throttle Stop app lets you choose the setting you would like to "run" your laptop from OC to silent to cpu only and battery saver. It does a lot more I`m guessing, from messing with OC to "guys at Obsidian know what", but for now im not touching anything except "go Boost mode" or "go Silent mode" :D. The other one is mostly for driver updates, bios updates, all sort of usefull updates and the great thing about it, its linked with Obsidian server and you can get all your drivers, software patches etc etc in one place and "modded" to suit your hardware since they (Obsidian) makes all the modding if necessery.

Ok to the "testing" part. Since i bought this laptop for mostly gaming purposes, as stated above, played a few games of Overwatch on Setting 1. It ran fluidly on 90 to 120 fps on Epic, 90% of the time staying at 110 fps, dropping to 90 for a milisec or two for unknown reasons while i was outside of mass fight, mostly while watching who killed me replays. Max temps were about 86ish, screenshots of HWMonitor after the games (was wondering about max temps):

Also did the exact same thing but with the setting to "silent" which limits the cpu to its original 4.2 ghz, temps were better, reaching to 75isc C with like maybe a 5 to 10 fps drop (stayed mostly at 105 fps during game time). Screenshots of HWMonitor after the games:

Hots performed exactly the same, even got to 40 to 75 fps in SWToR with gsync, mostly sticking to 75 which i never got before cause well its a bloody mess of an engine, WoW aint being any different with the optimization, tho i can run it without gsync with mostly 90 fps, drops are expected.

Have to say I did experiance a bsod for some reason, havent checked it cause I was messing with the settings in nvidia and obsidian so much I will just write it down on clevo saying to me: "oh ffs man just give it a rest, you wont get WoW to run on ultra with 120 fps constant so give it a rest already. :D". After that one incident 2 days ago I didnt listen and still messing with whatever I can and it didnt bsoded again, after all the raids and everything, so I will not bother with it.

All and all its a really awesome machine.

Now to the real heroes OBSIDIAN PC. These guys blew me off my feet and have to admit I am in awe with the way how they are running their company and business. The support from day one and asking stupid questions was top notch. After a while I did some small research and found out that the dude I was bugging so much on their chat service was one of the founders of the company which made me speechless, cause in my country you will rarely talk to one of the "CEOs" however the small business is. Joao (sorry m8 dont have the thingy over an a on the keyboard) was polite, respectfull, funny and above always avaliable when I needed it and always helpful. I had really hard time getting myself to man up and buy something online. Had more than a few rotten eggs bought in store that I had to return on the same day I bought it. Over the course of lets say 5 years i had to return 2 cells, faulty cpu, faulty gpu, a tablet and a laptop (acer i think it was), have a neck on picking new tech that came with somekind of a "bug".

Their approach to customers was the thing that changed my mind and I am more than happy that I chose them. Some of the things I admire: about 3 hour long chat about parts, why this and not that etc etc (cudos, i would prolly afked on myself after 30 min), than again about 1 and a half hour sesion about ordering, then 2 hours ordering the parts and 30 min chatting with me while I was waiting for the bank to sort limiting my transaction thingy, then he endured my whining about laptop not being here on friday and why doesnt TNT deliver to my country by plane in 21st century and what the hell is laptop doing in a truck, and what if they break my laptop to which he replyed with: "Relax, we havent had the broken laptop delivered so far!" (he might have been lying but it did help at the time A LOT). Honestly, im like a baby when I am waiting for new tech to arrive. Even my wife wanted to ditch me until it arrives and Joao endured it without a single bad word, im impressed. And after all that he spent about an hour trying to set up WoW to work, connecting remotly to my clevo and messing with the settings while I was drinking coffee and bugged him with do this and do that. (if youre reading this cheers and thank you for that a lot :D).

Even when Joao isnt around theres always someone who will help you, like Ricardo Barros (i think it was the guys name, i have to say im sorry for not remembering) who explained almost everything i needed to know from plugging in the laptop to maintaining the proper life of a batter to how the different settings work...should have taken a notebook to write all the things he wrote cause I forgot most of it.

Think I bragged them enough, dont want to spoil them if they read this, but have to say one more thing to conclude:

I recommend this guys from the heart. They deliver on all accounts. Thank you OBSIDIAN PC.

nah, thank you bro^^ you all deserve it, just eh pics could be better. Btw i did finally set WoW, windowed full screen, it forces gsync to kick in, have stable 75 hz except a few crappy places it goes to 60...stupid Blizzard. I got an official post that there is a problem with top end hardware and WoW, it doesnt know what to do with all that horsepower so it throttles everything down, eh what can you do. But it sure is awesome especially the screen, glad i listened to you.

No worries i will return, its always fun chatting with you, support or not :D

Great review man. I am also looking at this very same laptop from Obsidian PC, I am in the UK. Does your model have the 3k/4k display? If so how is it and I wanted to know what other brands were you considering at this price? I am quite tempted by the Alienware 17 r4 and MSI gt73vr... Need to decide soon aha.

Hey, thanks for the compliment on review. Heres the first thread where you can see what i was first after:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/what-to-choose.805299/#post-10535468

My situation was well a bit different since there isnt many options, hardware wise, in my country. The worst thing is that, whats considered here as top notch hardware is at least 1 or 2 years behind the rest of the western countrys, and the cost is almost the same. I could get gtx 1070, 7700hq, 256 gb ssd + 1tb hdd for about 2900 - 3k € and i got the clevo for 3300 €, premium shipping and backpack included. Even on mobile cpus OBSIDIAN got better deals than stores here, not to mention the support.

Went to check the ASUS and AW in stores, to see how do they look and was not impressed. AW was firm but i could bend keyboard a bit with my fingers and i didnt like that, ASUS on the other hand had well kinda girly lid, i had i feeling i would break it by just opening it and really dont like the design on MSI so they are out just cause of that no matter the hardware. What can i say, im a sucker for a good design. Especially like the 870KM with obsidian logo, it looks like a robot :D. But 2x 1080s would really be an overkill. Like the OBSIDIAN logo on the lid a lot, really fits it. No letters ftw!

Monitor has 1080p (1920x1080, or 2k at least i think thats 2k) resolution, 75hz, think the 120 hz screen has 4k res but you will have to check it with John. Feel free to poke him via their chat, he will write you an essay on both screens and what nots. I got sold on 75 hz with the: "colours just look prettier than on 120 hz, trust me youll like it". Was first fixated on 120 hz one.

Ah well hope this helps, if you got any more qs feel free to ask. Cheers^^

The 120 Hz screen is 2560x1440 resolution. The first 4K/120 external monitors aren't going to come online until at least Q3 of this year, and it'll probably be a little while longer still until laptop panels hit those lofty heights. If the 1080p unit you selected is the same as the one in my P670RS-G, you should be able to overclock it to at least 90 Hz. You do this by creating a custom resolution in the NVIDIA control panel.

Thanks on the info for the 4k/120 hz screens. Honestly forgot about that part, but eh thats why you uber techy ppl are around :D

Hmmm would be nice to get it to 90 hz buuuut me being the newb, will take a lot more reading until i make a decision to even try something like that.

Right now im just happy i got it and enjoy gaming on it quite a lot. ;)
