They used to have representation here. Then they took their ball and went home when NBR said they wouldn't put up with their hollow threats when users made complaints on the forums, and apparently Malibal wanted them removed. Usually when there's negative feedback, the respective reps whether Sager, Clevo, or any other brand, do what they can to rectify the situation. That's what garners customer loyalty. Things go wrong, they are only human too, but it's how you manage the situation when things don't go completely right that defines a company. Anyone can sell you something, but not everyone, and hate to say it, very few companies, do an exceptional job at taking care of the customer after the sale.

Who's running it? It sounds like a one man boss and like 3 assembly techs or something.

Post that for their reseller ratings and BBB You can file it under Advertisement/Sales complaint. You can file it under Advertisement/Sales complaint.

failwheeldrive Notebook DeityIt was a joke. I know how hard it is to start and run a small business, I've worked for one for a couple years (government contractor in DC, though it's not really a small business anymore with over 200 employees)

I can without a doubt unequivocally recommend LPC-Digital for any Sager purchase. They can usually save you a decent amount over anyone else if you are ok with the basic Sager styling, as well as offer great customer service. XoticPC is a great company too with great customer service, and have a nice website. If you want a Clevo assembled and made by the same company that sells it to you then I can highly recommend Mythlogic. They build and warranty all their own custom built Clevo notebooks. Malibal seems that they want to sell and forget. If you want a Clevo assembled and made by the same company that sells it to you then I can highly recommend Mythlogic. i just want to say :

 OOOOOH MY GOD....
-
So unless I am undertanding wrongly (english not my 1st language)
 did you really:
 Get a coupon off them
use the coupon on a laptop with a different spec from xotic
asked malibal to price match that price?

not that I am trying to defend them but I won't say you are the good guy here :S
-

A seller should never respond to a customer in this way. Instead of bashing the customer, they should have said "Unfortunately we simply cannot match the price". Even if the customer annoys you, you cannot afford to act rude towards him. Also, there is nothing wrong in competing the price between multiple sellers.
-
sure the language used was bad.
But he obtained a coupon from them and used it on another company's product, maybe malibal should offer a coupon specific for them but surely no one there was expecting the coupon was used elsewhere?

And the thing that bugged me the most is the comment about price matching with a different spec. That's quite unethical (if it was on purpose)
-

This happened late 2011, so my memory may be a little hazy.

The difference in spec Malibal was ranting about was 8 gigs of RAM in 2 sticks of 4 gigs or 4 sticks of 2 gig. Obviously for many, 2x4 is preferable because it leaves 2 DIMMS free for future upgrades. Everything else was identical.

In my case, 8 gigs is plenty; I'll never upgrade. Malibal's lowest RAM config was 2x4. Xotic offered 4x2 at a lower price. I was getting 8 gigs either way, so I explained this to Malibal and asked if he could match the 4x2 price.

Also about the initial discount, yes Malibal offered me one when I told him I was deciding between him and a competitor. Xotic matched his discount so I ended up with 2 laptops at the same price again.

I don't see what's so egregious about a consumer trying to get the most for his money. It never hurts to ask, you'd be surprised how accommodating resellers are. But to respond to such inquiries, touting 5-star customer service while actively trying to censor NBR members at the time, is just bad practice.

Of course, you're only hearing my side of the story. Malibal decided to pick up his ball and leave NBR mid-last year to run his own forum...which is still down...
-

Oh and I'm bringing this up now because my posts exposing this kind of service were removed at the time, when Malibal was still around in late 2011. Because he has that stupid "confidentiality" disclaimer in all his emails, it essentially gave him free reign to act like a jerk whenever he felt like it. NBR obliged and removed my posts. I left in disgust.
I'm sure others got the same treatment but no one could post any proof. I recently returned due to a dead GPU and am pleasantly surprised people can actually speak their minds on the matter now.
-

You can discuss your interaction and experience with a reseller, you just can't post emails.
-

Malibal isn't associated with nbr. Pretty sure he can say whatever he wants

No you can't, it's forum rules. Read it up if you like, you cannot post confidential emails sent from a reseller for your eyes only.
-

Would it be against the rules to post e-mails to a third party site, like Pastebin, and link to it in a post here? Just curious. I don't like making claims without evidence.

Mighty_Benduru Notebook ConsultantMALIBAL Reviews - malibal.com Ratings at ResellerRatings

MALIBAL Business Review in Las Vegas, NV - Southern Nevada BBB

They have a perfect 10 score reseller rating from resellerratings.com and an A+ rating from BBB. If you all are experiencing such bad service, why don't you post on those websites. This will definitely be more helpful to other people.
-

I agree. It's better to do that than to do nothing and complain on NBR.
-
failwheeldrive Notebook DeityComplaining on NBR is doing something (though it would be even better to write up a review on resellerratings.com as well)
-

 i'm entertained.
-
 failwheeldrive Notebook Deityi'm confused
-

If I recall, a reseller told me they didn't like to participate on reseller ratings because they can be "cleaned up" if you pay to be a member. Paying gives you the "rights to review and block erroneous or false customer reviews".
 Ripoff Report | ResellerRatings.com - All Enthusiast | Complaint Review: 427895

BBB is better, but the only way to get an A+ rating is to buy a membership. I remember either ABC or 20/20 covered something where two businesses with bad ratings called BBB to complain and they were told buying a membership would improve their scores. If I recall, their scores rose from like an F to an A or something crazy

 Capitalism at its finest.

honestly, when I was looking for a reseller over a year ago I depended more on NBR than BBB and ResellerRatings, at the time Malibal, xoticpc, LPC-Digital and Mythlogic were the most active and highly recommended here (obviously I went with Larry by my sig, even though I've bought parts from mythlogic).

there were negative comments on RR and BBB (or purely suspiciously high ratings, since I'm a firm believer you can't please everyone and may have pissed one or 2 customers at least ),but I still find it more credible to read threads here and discussions by different people and their experiences with the resellers. ),but I still find it more credible to read threads here and discussions by different people and their experiences with the resellers.

take xoticpc for example, there were rants here about them, complaints and negative feedback but how they hold their own and still treat people with respect makes me recommend them as one of the top resellers here in NBR, I was the same with Malibal before the mid life crisis/ Nervous breakdown events happened.

Better Business Bureau: The Best Ratings Money Can Buy - ABC News

Wow, I never knew that. Shows I should even research "trusted" sources. I had no idea how corrupt BBB is.

Hey Malibal, we don't care if you have A+ rating from BBB. BBB also gives terrorists A ratings...

 It's all about the money.
BBB has 120 offices and it seems the managers of each office make nearly 6 figure salaries and most of the executives make $300,000 +. This is supposed to be a non-profit to protect consumers. This means this company spends nearly all their money for operating costs in salaries. So their claim to investigate claims etc, are questionable at best.

Also, ABC showed that once you buy membership, the complain will be removed from your record that was resolved. So customers won't know the company had issues.
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel LaureateOh the irony, it hurts.

i'm going to use that link whenever someone talks about the BBB

do you guys notice, if you go on resellerratings.com, most of the 5 star comments are made by users who visited the site once, has given 1 review, and the last time visited is also first time visited...smell something fishy here
