Hey! So after lots (and LOTS) of research, I've decided to make the jump and get my first sager! Here's the setup I'm looking at right now:

    p170 - 17.3" screen
    intel i7-3610 2.3 GHz
    12GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    AMD Radeon 7970M
    256 Crucial M4 SSD
    750GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 300 Hybrid w/ 8GB NAND Flash
No mSATA (maybe as an upgrade un the future...)
    8X Multi DVD+/-R/RW RAM Dual-Layer Drive
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N
    IC Diamond 7 Thermal Compound

Basically I'm looking for a system that will last me at least 3+ years, and still be able to run the latest games at least at medium settings. Since I will be sinking a lot of money into this system, I'm interested in maybe looking into extended warranties to avoid big headaches and charges in the future.

    A few questions:
First, what would be the best reseller to buy from? The two that have really stood out to me are Reflex notebooks and Malibal, because they have repair centres in Canada. I was wondering if anyone had experience ordering from them/ dealing with warranty claims, etc. Which would you recommend? And are the extended warranties worth it?

Also, concerning my build: is the upgraded screen worth it? Reflexnotebooks offers at ~32$ upgrade to get a matte screen (though it doesnt mention what kind of NTSC Color gamut it is :/ ), while malibal offers a 72% NTSC matte display for an extra 149$. I'm a pretty big fan of matte screens, but are these upgrades worth the extra $$?

Also, do either of these places offer student discounts? Because that would be awesome :D

Message their reps on the boards for discount details

I live in Canada and bought my laptop from Mythlogic.

I just checked out Eurocom's website, and I was really unimpressed :S. Of course, web design isn't everything, but a website like that makes me a bit concerned over the quality of their customer service & support. Then again maybe I'm just being superficial.I haven't really heard much about them (not nearly as much as Malibal and Reflex). Does anyone have experience with warranty claims/repairs through them?

Also they seem to lack some of the upgrade options I want (only other screen choice is 3D, no matte/90% NTSC option), and correct me if I'm wrong but they don't seem to offer the 7970 either.

EDIT: Turns out I was looking at the wrong model, they do have the screen I want & the 7970.

I too had reservations when I looked at Eurocom's website but the experience with them has been positive so far. The sales reps have answered my questions usually within a few hours and have been very helpful. The 10% student discount, free shipping as well as quick delivery time have made me a happy customer.

Do you know anything about the differences between warranties for reflexnotebooks, eurocom and malibal?

I can't speak for the others but we do offer an added warranty which pretty much means that we if anything goes wrong we will be the link between you and Sager (which we only have to ship it back to them for major Motherboard issues) everything else can be handled in house at Reflex. We will also pay shipping both ways. This runs parallel with the Sager warranty and not added on to it past the manufacturer's warranty.

If you have any questions please don't be shy to ask.
