There's a clearly visible grain going on that appears to be coming from the LCD backlight. it makes a subtle grain over everything I see that I don't like at all, I don't recall seeing anything like this on previous laptops. Is mine defective or is this the nature of IGZO displays?

When you say grain does it almost look like burn in from certain angles?

I dont see any "grain" from any part of my screen. Where do you see if coming from exactly? Only from the top of the screen? How closely are you looking when you notice it? I mean, if you scrutinize it using a magnifying glass or something, I can see where you could possibly see the individual pixels, which could be interpreted as "grain", but at normal viewing distance, and even up close with the naked eye, I dont see any "grain" or screen texture roughness.

I encountered a similar issue with the Razer I purchased a few weeks ago.

The marks looked like burn marks and were more visible on black or solid colour backgrounds as well as specific viewing angles.

I spoke with Razer and the supplier and they both offered to send out a replacement.

I guess its a known issue.

I don't think its a burn issue, it is completely even over the entire display. It actually looks a lot like the textured part of the NotebookReview heading at the top of this page, except finer and a little subtler, and clearly 'behind' everything being displayed on the screen. It's as if the whole LCD backlight is made of a papery material. I know that I have very good eyes, but I didn't notice this on my MSI GS70 or any other LCD.

I am also getting crappy connection with my wifi card, AND I have the problem where the power supply ticks loudly. I think I might try to get a replacement. I just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this problem or if its an issue with how this screen is made in general.

I get the idea that it's a side-effect of the IGZO technology - my Razer has the same "issue".

When I look at other LCD's critically, I've noticed they all seem to have some amount of background texture, most visible on a white background. I think the significantly increased permeability of the LCD to light makes it much more apparent, although I do not have any other IGZO displays to compare to.

well that answers my question. I think I can live with that. Does anyone know if razer will replace my machine if it has a ticking power supply or a wifi card that has the known disconnecting issue? Will a replacement be any better?

I RMAed my Razer due to the screen-burn in looking effect on the bottom half of the screen. It looked like curved streaks on my screen and was noticeable especially against solid backgrounds and when I looked at it slightly off center. I originally thought it might be burn in from the default login screen but the pattern didn't match up and I couldn't figure out what else could have caused it. I only had my blade for about 5 weeks and only used it about a couple hours a day. Sigh...

My screen also has that texture, good to know it's somewhat normal, I've heard Razer will send you a new power adapter which will have a return envelope for your fault one, as far as WiFi is concerned I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the card because I have two laptops with the 7260 and both have issues, I find uninstalling the Intel drivers and using the Microsoft drivers alleviated the issue too an extent, it seems to perform substantially better on 5ghz, hope this helps.

Hey guys, I received my 14 inch 2015 laptop like last week, and I started noticing the grainy texture, kind of like a paper texture in the background. It's quite annoying I have to say cuz its all I can focus on especially when on White backgrounds...which is about 80% of all websites.

Should I mention this to Razer or is there nothing I can do about it? Thanks.

It's been discussed multiple times, it's an anti glare panel behind glass. Nothing you can do.

Thanks for the info, after reserachg IGZO panels, I realize that it's supposed to be this way ,but being a Graphic Designer, I find it quite distracting to say the least and im a bit disappointed ;(

You think Razer will replace my current one with a Full-HD non touch version of the 14 inch?

The only way to know is to ask them.
