Have anyone upgrade to Windows 10 released today on a Razer Blade?
Are they any driver issues?
Is DirectX 12 notable faster?
Is it worth updating?
-
Also if when answered i would like to know did you do a clean install and put razers software (drivers) on top or upgraded?
-
I too would like to know the above! Who is brave enough to risk an upgrade and tell us how it went? (i'm tempted but dont wanna deal with too much troubleshooting....)
-
I would but I haven't gotten my notification yet. I do incremental full partition backups nightly so no risk.
-
I didnt get a notification either but when I checked "windows update" in settings it said win 10 was downloaded and ready to install. Odd that that notification doesnt mention anything
-
Yeah, I see it now. I don't have time the window has passed. I'll try it tuesday next week. It's the next time I'll have a couple hours I can spare to do it.
-
Who knows, maybe you avoided having to deal with various first day issues that might be fixed by next week!

It seems razer did post some windows 10 drivers this morning (at least for the 2015):

I want to try my hand at upgrading but windows update is still telling me I have to wait. Interested to hear how it works out for you guys! -
Yeah, I got a batch of drivers in windows update recently. Synapse updated with win 10 support recently as well.
-

And a upgrade guide -
also, not sure why they have drivers for the 960M there instead of the 970M.
also, it looks like if you had previously registered for the update via the taskbar app, you can just skip the product key screen, as your registration will tie your product key to your MS account from what i gather:

Also if you havent got the "Get Windows 10 App" in the system task tray you can press the "Windows" key and type Windows Update. Here the Upgrade to Windows 10 will be available even if the icon is not showing in the system task tray.

Razer Blade 2015 QHD 512GB here.
I upgraded to Windows 10. Didn't know that there were new drivers posted on the Razer Support site. Noticed that graphics drivers were missing so I re-ran GeForce Experience and it installed the drivers (though the installer kept saying the drivers failed to install, but when I rebooted, the latest drivers were installed and everything looked fine in Device Manager).
Began to use my computer as normal, but found out wifi was super slow and constantly hanging up. That's when I saw that Razer had released new drivers, so I installed them according to the guide and now everything is up and running.
It's not as smooth as Windows 8 (internet still seems just a bit slower), but it's not bad. Hopefully they'll iron issues out in the coming weeks.Pcguy07 likes this. -
Thanks for the info gametime! I'm creating an image now just in case and will update and install drivers thereafter. Will post again when done! Wish me luck

How to Clean install(and free up all that space Windows.old and junk takes up):
Back up first
This process will take 1-3 hours depending on your internet conenction.
Please head to this page from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Download and run the 64-bit version
Select ""Create installation media for another PC""
Select "Windows 10 Home" 64-Bit
Please follow the rest of the instructions to finish the USB creation.
After the download is complete and the media is created, select Finish.
Navigate to the USB drive and run setup.exe from the USB
You MUST upgrade to Windows 10 and associate your liscense with your Microsoft account. Once this is done a clean install is possible.
To perfrom a clean isntalation resart and press F12, select the USB drive
Then follow the "How to perform a clean installation of Windows" directions here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10 -
Did the upgrade. Created a bootable USB with Microsoft's media creation tool foe Windows 10 as I couldn't get my Blade to upgrade through Windows update. Did an upgrade first and went very smoothly, everything was working as it should. Did a clean install and I'm unable to activate Windows 10 now (was activated when I did the upgrade). Might just be that Microsoft's getting hammered right now so I might give it a day or two. Regardless, been setting stuff back up on my Blade after the clean install. Overall seems very responsive. Haven't tried any games yet. Can't find the option to reverse scroll direction when using two finger scrolling on the trackpad. So far that's the only annoyance.
EDIT: Found the setting to reverse scroll direction for the trackpad, was buried in the Synaptics Touchpad settings. Must have just missed it lol.Last edited: Jul 29, 2015 -

this is clean as in 'diskpart clean' -
Well I updated and installed drivers though some were already installed somehow. Working flawlessly for now! Tried some games real quick (HotS and Witcher 3) and those worked without any issues. They actually felt quite a bit faster actually. Oh and also, the new intel driver now allows you to "maintain aspect ratio" so that, like for the Witcher 3, I dont have to change the resolution to 1080p before playing everytime. Finally!
In sum, yay for Win 10! Scaling is same as before, maybe a bit better for some things. The start menu is nice, though the tiles are kinda ugly when its just a big box with the icon inside, like most are. Hopefully that'll update. But yeah, smooth upgrade!
FYI I have the Razer Blade 2015 QHD+ -

Are all the Hot Keys Fn + F1....F12 still working in Windows 10?

Razor blade 14 2014 owners. Did a normal install with no razed drivers and everything works fine. Very scared to install razer drivers and get the sleep issues coming back.

Got my laptop at work now and will be exploring and using casually for browsing and typing so I'll post if anything weird comes up but for now its working very well! -
Browsing is much improved with the Razer network drivers (as opposed to the default drivers that came w/ the W10 upgrade), but still slower than in Win 8. It occasionally seems to hang up and take longer (we're talking 30 sec. to 1 min.) to load a page. It's not the internet connection as other devices are working as normal. I'm using Google Chrome, but it's slow w/ Edge too so it might not be the browser. This is only occasional. Sometimes, it seems to work fine. Not sure what the issue is.
-
was set to do a clean install, but the upgrade process went smoothly, so i think i'll keep it as is for now, as i'm kinda dreading having to reinstall all my games, mods, and customizations. the only issue i encountered was razer synapse freezing, but that was easily resolved by uninstalling/reinstalling. kudos to MS for the best upgrade experience i've ever had with windows.

-
yea no wifi issues here as well.
-
-
I upgraded and deleted the old files, haven't noticed any problems yet
-
Anyone else getting issues with Cortana's listening stopping the computer from sleeping automatically?
-
-
It keeps an audio stream open-- it's not supposed to. It's slated to be hotfixed soon.

Hey all,
I updated my Razer Blade 14 (2014) to Windows 10; everything went smoothly. Sorry if it has been discussed already, but has any gotten the Dolby Home Theater panel working for Windows 10?
For Windows 8/8.1, it seems that the Dolby Home Theater panel is bundled with the realtek audio drivers. I want the Dolby Home Theater panel but want to stay on the latest audio drivers, Thanks in advance. -
Here is the link for the 2014 blade

All of our Windows 10 details are available at: http://www.razersupport.com/ .For most other questions please see this FAQ: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-faq
We have posted drivers and upgrade guides here: http://drivers.razersupport.com//index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=350&pcid=0&nav=0 -
No luck. I uninstalled the Realtek driver under Programs and Features and restarted. I then installed the updated Realtek driver and restarted but still no Dobly Theater icon / options. The only thing I have in my tray is the realtek audio icon and nothing shows up when I search my programs and computer for dolby theater

I installed Razer Surround but I didn't like it. Razer Surround worked best with a stereo headset but I usually game with my speakers set to low and listen to music or podcasts on my iPhone. I prefer Dolby Home Theater to easily control the equalizer settings for different activities such as movies music and gaming. The Dolby panel offered better virtual surrond for movies and gaming. There's still no way for me to get it working so far. I followed Razer's upgrade guide and downloaded the driver straight from Razer's site.
It seems that when I uninstall and reinstall with the Realtek installer. Windows 10 automatically installs the Realtek driver in the background after I do the required reboot. I tried uninstalling those drivers in the device manager and deleting them in device manager but Windows 10 always automatically installs them anyways. It has just been a bit of a headache trying to tinker with these drivers to get Dolby Home Theater to work. I might call Razer support this week to see if one of their technical support people can identify the problem.
On an unrelated note and fyi for others, there is an update present for Realtek audio drivers that windows finds automatically. The official Razer supplied driver are version 6.0.1.7525 but if you click update drivers in device manager for Realtek High Definition Audio, Windows will update it to 6.0.1.7535 Not sure what it changes or what's new though.
I'll post my results once I call Razer support about it tomorrow, I may be able to help someone else who had difficulty getting their audio drivers to work properly -
It's just a licensing issue. Dolby doesn't sell the surround software to consumers. This is their way of making sure you can't install it on just any old system you wish.
Pain in the ass. Razer should probably provide an updated version that will work with newer realtek drivers. Not being able to update those (performance, security) is not ideal. Maybe @RazerCS can give us the party line.Last edited: Aug 16, 2015 -
I am happy to share that updating to windows 10 did not affect the Linux partition at all, not even the grub. Dual boot working perfectly.
That is thanks to the EFI booting system. -
So I had my razer blade 2015 for a few days now and I noticed a few issues which I'm not sure if they are caused by windows 10 or something else. When I received the laptop the first thing I did was to upgrade to windows 10 then install all the drivers posted on razer website; however, I had three BSOD so far and another strange issue is that whenever I close the laptop and leave it with the power cord attached when I wake up in the morning the razer light in the back is on and the fan is working on a low speed, then I have to open it up and close it again and remove the power cord. I'm not sure if this is caused by the laptop not going properly to sleep mode while its closed or maybe I should manually change the settings. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I found the problem it was caused by a faulty ds3 controller driver. Everything is ok after a system restore.Last edited: Aug 20, 2015 -
Aside from Razer Synapse preventing any Steam games from loading and me scratching my head for hours until I discovered that resetting the stats in Synapse was all I had to do, it's been fine. I love Windows 10!

I upgraded to Windows 10 on my 2013 Razer Blade 14 and had issues with my windows store and all it's app opening and then auto closing which made it rather annoying since I used them frequently (especially the mail and calendar app which seems to have the best integration with the OS).
Did anyone else have these issues and was able to fix it? I've tried almost everything in the book and on the internet to fix this (I actually think most the fixes made it worse) -
My mail and calendar apps crashed a few times a bit after upgrading but that stopped on its own. I think the windows updates may have fixed that?
-
Did a clean install and the same issue continues to plague me.
Store, mail, calendar, calclator any "store" app will open then instantly close.
Anyone else experience this and has managed to fix it? -
In case this hasn't been posted yet, if you use a Dualshock 4 regularly with your Blade I probably wouldn't upgrade to Windows 10 just yet, or at least look into the issue further and understanding the drawbacks before upgrading.
Apparently DS4Windows (the xinput wrapper for Dualshock 4) is having trouble getting into exclusive mode when connecting the Dualshock 4. (eg. Dark Souls 2 has trouble with the controller if it recognizes two controllers at once, and natively sucks with regular gamepad connection). There ARE work-arounds though, but in my case when I use it in my daily gaming, not gonna go through that hassle all the time. -
