Currently I'm on an Alienware M11X R2, I really want to upgrade to a new gaming ultrabook but there are so few choices.
-The Gigabyte P34G is dumb because it has a 1080p screen paired with a GTX 760, it's not very aesthetically pleasing, and it's power brick is large.
-The Aorus X7 is just way too large, if they had a 14 inch version (no SLI of course) it may be enticing.
-The Razer Blade 14 is by far the best in it's class, so small, so powerful, and so sexy looking. But I'm worried I won't like it's lackluster screen. I like the 900p resolution I'm just worried about the bad viewing angles on it. Also I'm worried about the thermals when gaming. I think Razer has been too conservative with the fans speeds. I would much rather have a cool laptop than a quiet one as I usually have headphones on anyways.
Is there anyway to adjust the CPU and GPU fan speeds on it? <---- SUPER IMPORTANT

I was thinking about waiting for the Blades next revision which will hopefully have a better display. Any predictions on when the next one will be released? Or maybe I could buy one now and sell it later when the new one comes out. How well do these things resale on Ebay?

Haven't messed with the fans on mine yet. I've had it for 1 1/2 weeks and seems to be running perfectly. Consider i'm running dota2 max details while streaming to twitch tv using obs at 60fps and 1280x720. Runs like butter. It does get hot but the materials of the case + the hardware you can't expect it not too. Screen wise its going to be a preference thing. A lot of people dont like it, a lot of people dont worry much about it. Myself I would like a better screen but it wont stop me from enjoying this machine. Many threads on the screen that you can read up on.

If you’re concerned about not liking the screen you really should make an effort to see one in person. If you can’t then watch some videos that try to show the viewing angles and colors. I would ask yourself if it’s a deal breaker or not. Will the screen "not being up to what you expect" make you not enjoy the laptop? Or will the display not being up to your expectations be acceptable if the rest of the system meets or exceeds? That's about the best way I can explain it. For me I'm in the latter group, would I have liked a better display? Sure, but it's not going to make me return it.

Wait and see how the MSI GS60 pans out. It's releasing next week.

Doesn't that have a 15.6" screen? It sounds like he is looking for something 14" or smaller.

Damn, that MSI is one thin gaming notebook. I'm definitely interested to know what GPU they plan on loading into that. I mean seriously, how good can cooling get in something that thin? It's gorgeous for a gaming notebook, nonetheless.

I've owned both a razer blade 14 and a P34G and i can tell you that i wouldn't be able to choose between the two as they both have compromises.

The build quality of the razer is amazing. I was ok with the screen when i had it, but couldnt justify the price of 2000 for a laptop.

The P34G's screen is awesome and the GTX 760 is only 200Mhz slower than a GTX 765M, but with the turbo boost on gigabyte it brings it down to 65Mhz without you touching anything. Honestly its basically the same. However the only thing i'm not satisfied with about the P34G is that the chassis isn't aluminum like the Blade. If it was, hands down would be the best, but the plastic chassis has some flex to it. The 14" IPS screen is great. I love it more than my U2711.

But those are the breaks. I'll leave you with that information and to decide on your own.

Note: I paid 900 used for my P34G so it was more justified than 2000 for the Razer Blade.

I expected a new Razer Blade 14 around summer time or later, but it's already here!
I'll definitely be getting one of the new blades soon!
