Is anyone else having issues where the sound fluctuates? For example when I am watching videos with VLC the sound is originally a little low for the volume level I have selected. But after I watch continously for a little bit the sound will at some random point in time become loud and crisp. Similarly when I am watching Netflix the sound starts off low after a little bit of time the laptops display turns off and the instant I turn the display back on by moving the mouse the sound becomes loud and crisp.

Anyone know how to make this so that I get the better quality sound all the time?

    Thank you in advance :)

It's the Dolby Digital Plus sound processing turning on and off. As far as I can tell, it's buggy and frequently ceases to work. My solution to this has been to simply turn off the audio processing so I at least get a consistent volume level. (And the sound without it is fine, just not quite as loud.)

Okay, well it helps to know the source. Thank you! But you're right the audio isn't terrible without the processing. How did you turn it off?

Thanks for this. I also have a problem with the volume levels.

Click the Dolby (double-d) icon in the task tray, wait a second or three for the Dolby app popup to display (why is this so slow? terrible software, I guess), then click the power button in the top left next to the Dolby logo. You can also use that popup window to identify whether it's currently working or not; when the Dolby audio processing is on and working, the audio visualization will be active. And unfortunately, when it stops working, no combination of turning it off and on or changing presets seems to make it work again.
