    Hi Everyone,

I recently bought the Razerblade 14 (2014) with 256 GB, but I have been experiencing some issues about which I hope to gain some clarity. For reference, I received the machine late last week and have been adding/playing games throughout the weekend to test its limits.

First, when running Civ5, I hear an odd crackling noise coming from the speakers when the volume bar is around 70 (the in-game volume controls are at max); this sound disappears when I put on headphones. Is this normal to hear? My other laptop is an HP Pavilion that is 5 years old, and I have never heard this sound before.

Also, when running Civ5, the game lags considerably at max settings; considering that the game is almost 4 years old and that this machine is new with amazing specs, is this normal and if so, are there tools I can use to reduce the lag?

Finally, while playing AC4: Black Flag, the laptop gets considerably hot with heat creep reaching the "ASDF" row of keys, the fans are fairly loud, and the game itself has frozen twice in the last 36 hours, forcing 2 reboots. Are these also normal occurrences with this machine?

For reference, I'm not a hardcore gamer and just bought this machine so that I could play Civ5 or AC4 while I travel for work. I'm a bit concerned that the machine can't hold up despite its cost, which may lead me to return it.

    Thanks in advance!

When I played Civ 5 initially the nvidia wasn't engaging make sure it isn't just using the Intel hd.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was able to fix the Civ5 issue using the GeForce Experience panel to optimize the game settings...I'm not sure if this automatically switches the graphics card from Intel hd to Nvidia though...do you know how to check?

I also have a new query: I performed the same GeForce Experience optimization for Starcraft2 and it was running great for 15 minutes before the screen froze and then cut to black...I can still hear the music and it appears the units can still be controlled in the background, but all I see is the cursor and a black screen...is this another 'failure to switch graphics card' error?
