Apparently someone in Razer Sales Support thinks they are a Comedian. I don't find the joke at all funny. I was in the market to purchase a $4899 laptop (obviously a Pro 2TB), which is their top of the line product and ridiculously spendy. I had ONE simple request: when I tried to obtain my 5% student discount, the website froze. I was unable to obtain a code for my discount. I repeatedly emailed Razer Sales Support and over a THREE DAY period; I received the same canned reply. Informing me it was still under review and they were seeking a solution. To get me a COUPON CODE for an offered Student Discount going on four days?

Here is the punchline Razer.... I bought an Alienware... Good luck with your business model.

Any other "Funny" Support stories? I'd love to hear them.

Take as a divine sign. Stay away from this throttling, purposefully gimped GPU, overpriced product.

    Here's my story:

I know Razer support sucks. But I keep buying their laptops anyway, because their 14" Razer Blade is unbeatable when it comes to size, performance, and build quality (materials).

I just wish another laptop maker would focus on design and build quality (materials), instead of all just trying to make the cheapest piece of junk they can by simply jamming a bunch of components into a large, heavy chassis made of cheap plastic, and calling it a day.

The Gygabyte Areo 15 now beats it. It is the same size due to infinity (bezzeless) display, and they really stepped up their game in quality

I just can't fathom how a company can sell such expensive items and not allow you to call them with ordering questions.
I'm returning to college soon ,received my EDU email address and wanted to save 5% on a $5K computer.
Razer offers a small discount, but at least it's something... considering they aren't having a significant Memorial Day Sale.
You try to get the code, website freezes, you email them and going on 4 days they can't provide a simple coupon code?
OR god forbid, CALL you and take your order over the phone.

What does this tell me about Tech Support? Or Warranty Support? Or RMA Support?
The most basic level of support - Sales Support where they should want to take your money... and it isn't there?
The product may be great, but the Customer CARE has to be there also.

The other thing is: if there are any Veterans in the house (Razer does NOT offer any active duty military discounts).
    Just FYI

the aero 15 has the same spec and 75w 1060 as the blade 14

however the cooling system is more robust and has manual fan control unlike the blade

Don't forget better I/O selection with SD card slot, mini DP, and Ethernet/LAN. Plus a larger screen

So many manufactures neglecting Ethernet and SD card :(. I get +20 MBPS more than wifi through my Ethernet, and can put entire music libraries on 256 SD card for cheap.

Plus it doesn't have a glass large triple headed snake that will glare at people in the boardroom

So, then getting off of my customer service rant for 30 seconds... is the Razer Blade Pro 2TB worth it? Is the quality there?

Or am I just getting ready to drink the Kool Aid ?

Pure Kool Aid man. The GTX 1080 in had its TDP lowered by Razer. It performs just like a GTX 1070 which is considerably less expensive. Also the HK processor cannot maintain any advertised overclock and Throttles due to temps as high as 99C. It is the most expensive slim GTX 1080 laptop (that isn't bat $%^& crazy like the Water-cooled ASUS or 21" ACER), and also the worst performance.

Note: the only competition in the "thin" category (until ACER releases the Trition 700) is the Aorus X7 DT, and AW 17 (both perform better). Everything else is 1.5" or more (if that matters to you)

UPDATE - I guess someone at Razer must be paying attention. A gentleman from "Support" actually picked up a telephone and called. I'm not certain as to the purpose of the phone call, to allow me to "vent" perhaps ? He told me that people much higher in the company would be informed about the incident. He further stated that my business ideas to improve the PRO sales process would be forwarded. Now, I'm curious to see how seriously Razer takes it's Customer service.

In the meantime the NEW Aorus X7 DT V7... looks like a great machine. With a release in mid june? For me it comes down to an Alienware 17 vs the Aorus. I'm leaning a bit toward Aorus to be honest.

Why are you trying to get a super thin high performance gaming laptop anyways? If I were you I would use your ridiculously high budget to get either 2 laptops or 1 laptop and 1 desktop.... One of the laptops is for portability, buy something like an aero 15 here. Then for your second laptop get something slightly thicker with GTX 1080 because thicker laptops usually have better thermals. It isnt like you are sacrificing your gaming experience as aero 15 is a pretty good laptop, but the second laptop is there for you if you really want that performance.

Since you asked: I'm going overseas for a few years. I want something I can stuff in a suitcase and not lose too much gaming performance with a bit of "future proofing".

Oh, that makes sense... I would get the predator laptop then(coming out). Seems like a really expensive(3000 dollars i think) but very portable/powerful option. It was displayed at computex so u should check it out.

If you're going to be overseas, get the one with the best availability of warranty support. FYI, that would be Dell/Alienware, Asus, then acer.

Lol what? I like how you are promoting Dell after the **** you have been through with them :)

Also speaking of Acer there is a new ultra portable very powerful laptop by Acer called 'Zephyrus' coming out at 2.7k$. If i were you I would check it out. Even I am thinking of getting the GTX 1070 version of this laptop currently.

I might not ever buy a Dell again myself, but we're talking about warranty coverage. It's hard to beat Dell.

Plus, I won my claim against them, so I got refunded for the laptop :D

Lol, yeah I saw :). The thing is Reese seems to have a rather large budget so he can easily get a warranty for any of his laptops from any manafacturer for an extended period of time.

Reese I wouldnt buy from Dell and nor should you. The quality control there is horrible so a number of things can go wrong abroad, royally screwing you over. Get a laptop from a more reliable manafacturer like Acer or Gigabyte...

Man things have changed... Acer used to be the worst in QC. Enough that I wouldn't use an Acer again after my throttling 3830TG

Would stay away from Razer then, Overseas support is non existent.

Considering the why you want; I would seriously consider the HIDevolution's EVOC 16L-G-1080. It is the lightest GTX 1080 laptop available (6.6 LBS but a little thicker 1.55" but that much thickness doesn't really matter, is 1/2" going to make portability much more difficult?).

HIDevolution offers worldwide support. The machine isn't flashy, so less likely to be stolen (but the poor pictures on the website don't due it justice at all, it really doesn't look bulbous or cheap) and it has MXM GPU and Desktop socketed CPU, so it is most powerful non SLI laptop on market. Also if something goes wrong, socketed components can be replaced, or down the road, upgraded.

They *definitely* did you a *huge* favor.

Is this laptop also the loudest when under stress?

I've used desktop replacements before, but this one blares like a rocket.

That's louder than any Clevo I've used with desktop CPU's and SLI GPU's inside.

The noise levels on the RBP I did not find too bad, yes they are loud but not annoying.

However the heat on the keyboard W,A,S,D keys that most games I have my fingers set on at all times, those after 30min-45min become uncomfortable.

This is my 5th and final RBP and so far this one has the best temps, it handles UV at -130 solid and temps at 3.9 never go over 88 CPU, GPU never goes over 85.

I just beat Prey on it today and it was too the point I was like damn I can't take this heat on my fingers any longer.

I will try the new Asus and Acer and maybe end up keeping one of those? The screen though on the rbp will be missed.

better you use static set voltage instead of undervolt

I would personally recommend Alienware. They're a bit heavier and thicker but the build quality is great and they perform/cool well. I don't know your future plans would have room for Alienware's Graphics Amplifier (similar to the Core) but I would definitely recommend it.

A month ago, I bought an Alienware 15R3 (7700HQ, GTX 1060), the Alienware Graphics Amplifier, and a GTX 1080 Ti all for just under $2000 after my local MicroCenter's sales and rebates. I haven't looked back once.

So, I'm wondering whether to consider on of the new Max-Q architecture bad boys. Zephyrus, Triton 700 or the Aorus

Linus Tech Tips - Liked the Aorus

Just for giggles, apparently Razer didn't like my negative review on Yelp and had them take it down. They must be in serious trouble if they have nothing else to do.
