Does anyone happen to know if/where I can could get a replacement lcd ribbon cable for my Razer Blade R2. The cable has 40pins on the lcd panel end which I think is standard but the other end has a connector which doesn't look all that common. (compared to other lcd ribbon cables)
I've taken some of the black tape of the ribbon cable but haven't come across any model numbers on the cable yet.

I live in the UK so sending it to Razer isn't really an option.

    Reason I'm asking is:
I actually replaced my LCD panel as it had appeared to have died but whenI rebuilt the laptop it actually still had the same issue with the display kinda showing up then distorting and disappearing. When use an external display however it works fine, so as far as I can tell the gpu is infact working ok.

Long story short I realised that with the lcd ribbon cable plugged in, and the laptop powered on, the connector on the motherboard was getting extremely hot. The ribbon cable connector on the panel end looks like there is a slight discolouring due to heat, so I'm guessing it shorted out or something and that's what killed the last panel and is stopping the new one working properly as the cable is also damaged.

    Hi,
The first 14 inch blade has a LVDS cable because it has a low res screen, the R2 has a very high resolution ips panel and it has a edp cable, is easy to find cables for the 2013 model and i tried to find for the 2014 but nothing so maybe you can search for a generic edp cable or maybe another laptop which use the R2 screen (is a sharp LQ140Z1JW01) and buy the cable... also you have to look if the lcd cable have some numbers and maybe you can find a cable or more information with these numbers.

So you have the nvidia 765m version? Cause there are a previous one with the nvidia 660m. Also can you be more specific with the panel model cause there is a lot of LP173WF versions (LP173WF-TPA1, LP173WF-TPB2...)

It's the R2 17" model, so nVidia GTX660M and the panel is LP173WF1 (TL B3).

Unlike a lot of other laptops the connection to the webcam is not part of the LCD ribbon cable, so it makes it harder to find another laptop that has the same connector on the motherboard side.

So a bit more research on the cable and it appears to have the standard 20mm 40pin connector on the lcd panel end and on the motherboard end it appears to be a right angle stacking type SGC connector.

I still haven't been able to source a cable with these connectors anywhere yet.

It looks like Razer no longer use that style of connector on the motherboard anymore and use a more 'standard' looking connector so I'm guessing there may not have been many other laptops out there with this connector combo.

Any luck? I have the 2012 17" Razer Blade as well. Same as your's. I'm looking to get a spare cable in case anything happens because I've noticed somethings i get weird red horizontal lines or red color glitches on the screen when I open the screen a certain amount. If I wiggle the screen open and close it disappears and the picture looks normal again. It only happens from time to time.

I have the same issue and it looks like Razer is not going to be any help, which in my experience thus far has been typical.

    My Email:

--- Details of Your Request ---
Can you tell me the part number for the lcd ribbon cable. Mine has a short in it and I need to see about replacing it. Apparently I'm not the only one either: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/replacement-lcd-ribbon-cable-for-razer-blade-r2.765798/:

    Email response from Razer:

    Salutations Carl ,

Sorry, as parts are only sold with service, this would need to come in for diagnostics and a quote. Our LCD Assembly's are a sealed Have a great day,

    Steven M.
    Razer Support Tier II Agent
His broken English at the end references the fact that even with a diagnostics, they don't know what the cable is and they can only replace the entire top half of the laptop if it comes in for service. The LCD assembly costs roughly $500.

Needless to say, I too am still looking for a solution and will post as soon as I find something.
