Has anyone had success with lowering the fan speeds at load?

Just picked one up and while I knew it was loud at load, I never expected this kind of noise!

I did a -100mV undervolt and disabled Turbo, but the fans were still full blast. Will likely try a repaste to see if it makes a difference.

I don't mind the laptop since it's nice and quiet for office work and browsing, but my girlfriend was complaining the whole time I was gaming on it about the noise level (since we live in a small and quiet place).

I just did a repaste of the RB skylake 1060 and it makes no difference with fan noise under load....it is just the way it is with this laptop design.

for the skylake model, there is a bios and ec update available that reduces the noise ! for all other models, go in synapse then battery and set it to quiet mode ( cool mode is full blast ) make shure to use the nvidia card ! when i use the integrated for gaming, the fans ramp up extremly high ! use geforce experience and turn on battery saver ( reduces fps ) and quiet mode ( does the same but a bit differently ) ill always lock my fps to 45 when gaming on the notebook, to reduce the temps and stuff ;) works for almost every game

Whisper Mode in Geforce Experience is also available now, which limits FPS in certain games, similar to the battery saver deal, and thus can potentially limit fan speed and noise.

You could also try NvInspector and set fps limit to your liking. I set mine to 65 to avoid stuttering but you could also set it to 40 for example.
This works for all 3D Applications.
