Figure we should start one of these up now that they are finally shipping.

Received my 4k/256 Stealth yesterday. Really impressed with the build quality of the laptop. Didn't check FPS on starcraft2 but it played better than my NUC and 3770 (integrated). It was able to run 1080 @ medium while the other 2 played at low. The HD ran a CrystalMark of 1050/350. I have a quick question regarding the fan. Read elsewhere that the Stealth runs silent when idle so I'm not sure if it's coil whine or the fan. As soon as the laptop is turned on you can hearn a noticeable whirl (not grindy but not a typical air flow noise either). It can be hear from around 2 feet. When running a game the fan does kick in but it's not loud and the integrated speakers drowns out the noise at around 40% volume. Would love to meet someone around the Phoenix area to compare my 4k to the 1440 screen to help others see if the price difference is worth it. Let me know some tests to run if you want more performance info

I'm running my son's Cars movie on loopback. Its a mp4 from iTunes and it is running full screen using Window's Movie and TV app. I have all apps, keyboard lighting and wifi disabled (except Norton) The movie is 21:9 so it does have the top and bottom border but the animation provides lots of contrast and colors. The Stealth is averaging around 4% loss every 15 minutes. At exactly 3 hours the battery is sitting at 54%.

Here is 2 runs of FRAPS for SC2 running 1080@ medium on every setting but high on 3d model and movies. It is very smooth and playable not jerky at all.
    Frames: 67 - Time: 1813ms - Avg: 36.955 - Min: 33 - Max: 372016-01-31 08:23:56 - SC2_x64
    Frames: 83 - Time: 2172ms - Avg: 38.214 - Min: 35 - Max: 402016-01-31 08:23:51 - SC2_x64

The CrystalMark score for the SSD was 1581/310.

Thanks for the benchmark but SC2 is a very CPU intensive game.
I assume you are running the benchmark off the campaign early missions?

Do you happen to play 1v1 or 2v2 at all? Can you share some benchmarking with mid - late game situation?

Can you put your laptop on a flat surface and press on the left corner of the palm rest closest to you? Mine is uneven and wobbles a bit.

It was tested on the secret mission. I'll look at 1v1 tonight. I'll also check the wobble but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary during the weekend

    Hey there!

I am not a Blade Stealth owner, but I was able to convince a friend looking for an ultrabook to get one. So that I can try it for a little while, of course.

I have to say... wow... this is one of the best damned keyboards I have ever used! Heck, I think I like it even more than the Corsair K65 on my desktop! Not only does it feel nice, but it is also one of the keyboards I make the less mistakes ever.

My current laptop is a Blade (2014), and I have a pre-order for the Blade (2016). If the keyboard on the 14-incher is the same as the one of the Stealth, that alone is worth the upgrade!

My buddy will leave the Stealth with me for the weekend, so let me know if you have any kind of benchmarks you would like me to run in it! (Of course, the Core hasn't been release, so we won't know how that works until it gets here by the end of the month... maybe).

Do you find the key travel to be shorter than the blade 2014?

The Stealth has a 1mm key travel. The keyboard has been universally disliked by critics, so I don't imagine they'll use it for the Blade 14".

Cool thanks, I've been looking for that spec. I didn't get around to measure it when I had mine.

I remember the 2014 blade 14 keyboard being really nice to type on and I think that was 1.5mm or something. Hopefully the new one will have the same travel.

I found I could tolerate the stealth keyboard but I certainly wouldn't want to type on it all day.

    Hi,
I'm new to this group. I got my Razer this past month.

I'm wondering if anyone has considered/tried putting a Linux OS on their razer.

I have the UHD 512 gb version so it should be more than strong enough to handle Linux.

Has anyone tried it? Is this an awful idea?

I don't know the exact measurements of it, but it does feel like less key travel; it also feels like it need less force to activate the keys, so lighter pressing of the keys is needed. In the Blade 14 (2014) sometimes I would feel like I pressed a key, but didn't know 100% for sure if I did or not, so sometimes I would skip a beat while typing. Not so on the Stealth.

While I am not sure on the travel distance, I think the reason they will not use this keyboard on the Blade 14 is because the key caps themselves feel thinner; they'd probably look funky on the larger laptop.

Also, like most things, how a keyboard feels is a matter of personal opinion, and I like a lot of whole bunches how the Stealth's keyboard feels. I do have a Blade 14 (2016) on pre-order. When that gets here I will be sure to give you guys an update on how the keyboard feels.

I don't know of anyone using Linux on a Blade. While I don't think is awful - I find it interesting, actually - I wonder if some of the hardware (like TB3) will play nice with Linux.

Let us know how it goes

The Stealth has 1mm key travel which does come in below average for other ultrabooks. The keys themselves are fairly normal sized because of the laptops larger footprint relative to other laptops of its size. Not too difficult to adjust to IMO but definitely not the most satisfying experience to type on. Pretty sure that the Blade 2016 will use the same sized keys as from the previous generations Blades which were excellent to type on with decent key travel (similar feel and keytravel to a MBP if I recall).

Has anyone taken the back cover off to see how many M.2 slots there up. I'm curious if there is only a single or if they managed to get two so we could run a RAID.

I tested it. Tried a Samsung EVO M.2 SSD and couldn't get it recognized. Swapped it out for a Samsung 950 Pro and a PM951 and it recognized them the first time. I'm pretty sure SATA M.2 won't work.

That's too bad about the sata m.2 not working :(
I already had a 512GB and figured even though it's a bit slower at least it has the extra storage.
Guess I'll wait to see how good the Core really is before I take the plunge.

So I am down-scaling my Dell XPS 15 (selling it) and thinking about replacing it with one of these. I had a 2014 Razer Blade, the one with the GTX 870 previously, but wanted to know 2 things.
How does the keyboard compare to the previous Razer's?
How does the touchpad compare to previous Razer's?

If you owners could give me a heads up I would appreciate it, since I am probably going to buy a used one on eBay or something, so the return policy will likely be non-existent. Thanks!

touchpad is exactly the same. Keyboard is a little worse. It's tolerable and you get used to it but I miss far more keystrokes than I did with the RB 2014

Crap, I'm sorry, I just realized what thread this was. I thought you were asking about the razer blade, not the stealth.

I had one for a few weeks and returned it. I had some rma issues. The keyboard is practically the same as the razer blade 2016 only the keys are even shallower. The Trackpad isn't exactly the same, like I previously stated, but it's still very good. Line Eason just said, the battery life is pretty bad, especially with the UHD version.

The bezel was just too much for you? Did you have the UHD or QHD version? I have heard the battery life is around 6 hours for the QHD model, which is what I was looking at. Currently I have the Dell XPS 15 9550 4k model and am just not utilizing it and would rather have some $ in my pocket over such a powerful notebook when I am using my desktop most of the time. So when looking at all the untrabooks out there for around 1k, this hit my list. I loved my Razer 14 and figured I would like the Stealth too, but am seeing a lot of people who cannot deal with either the battery or the keyboard.

Why did you return it? I was only looking at the QHD model, really I will only be using it for some on the fly photo editing in lightroom, remoting into my work computer while on the go, some word processing for school, and some SQL database design.

First one wobbled on flat surfaces. Second one had a fan issue. Third had a bad USB port. I ended up returning it for store credit and settled for the RB 2016.

I have had both an XPS 15 and 13. I had the QHD version, but the battery life never got close to 6 hours. Maybe if you idle on the desktop with nothing open.

Go on ebay and buy a refurb XPS 13 i7 with the screen of your choosing. The QHD+ touch will run for 6-7 hours easily and the FHD will be more like 9-10.

Wow, that makes me pretty hesitant to buy on on eBay lol. I am still undecided. I loved the build quality of my previous Razer and have always wanted to go back to that. I read early reports of people getting terrible battery life but with updates and drivers that got sorted out. Was your battery life experience similar to Eason?

I may end up doing that, but I think I might try a Razer first, a new one, rather than an used one, so I can return if I do not like it.

I had the first infinity edge XPS 13 and had nothing but issues with it for the 8 months I had it so was hoping to avoid that, though it does not appear that is a sure thing here. I like the XPS line, but I loved my Blade, I wish I would have kept it. Who knows, I will probably regret whatever I do. That's usually the way of things.

Pretty much. I wrote a review on it and listed my battery scenarios at the bottom. Nothing stellar but it's not awful either. I'd still say it's a good buy at Razer's current price of $950.

    http://www.ultrabookreview.com/9777-razer-blade-stealth-review/

Are you buying it on ebay new or used? If you're buying international, I would recommend buying it used and just ask them questions to make sure everything is tested and ok. eBay protects you if they lie. I'm a heavy eBay seller and can tell you from experience that eBay always protects their buyers even the dishonest ones...

That's a great review. I went ahead and ordered a new one, just in case. For some reason the last 2 that sold on eBay, and there are only 2 more out their that are used, went for very close to what the new prices are so I just went that route so I can return if I decide to. I will let you know what happens, thanks again for all the information.

It's a synaptics Trackpad so all the gestures are handled through that. If you're confident with making registry adjustments, it's pretty easy to change some of the gestures to match a Microsoft precision touchpad. For example, three finger swipe up and down will now trigger the notification switcher for me. I also have three finger left and right as navigation control in the browser. (Not sure if either of those were default or not)

May I know if there are battery/power management in windows or in BIOS to not charing the battery if the power adapter plugged in?

If you're asking if you can set power management to NOT charge the notebook when it's connected to AC power, the answer is no. If the laptop is plugged into AC power and not charging, either it's not plugged in, your surge strip is off, or you have a problem with the charger or charging port [apparently there have recently been a number of issues with the chargers on the stealth being very flaky. I haven't experienced it personally]

The battery/power management options are the same as most any desktop/laptop computer.
