RazerBlade 2014, it's more portable, powerful and just plain old sexier with the amazing screen.

I voted for the Razer Blade 14". Small, portable form factor is the highest priority for me, and the 14" Blade is the most powerful laptop in most respects that fits into that category. The 17" can't even compare.

Blade 14. Smaller and lighter, faster GPU, HiDPI panel.

Besides I don't care at all about the switchblade UI.

    I voted 17in
More powerful procesor, more ram, bigger screen, still extremely portable unless ur a baby, gpu can be overclocked to be more powerful and not overheat, switchblade is useful, screen res is perfect most people dont evem use the 14in at native anyways, 14inchs wyt to small to enjoy anything, stunning look

Have you used the 1800p 14" model? The sheer pixel density makes the screen feel enormous for its size. I play everything at native and have had no problems yet. Even under the heaviest GPU load I have not had the GPU get hotter than 86C (It's usually around 81-83 average temperature in a demanding game).

My apologies if you found that affensive i shoulda worded it diffrently its just people complain to much about saying the 17in is huge and heavy when its really light and easy to carry
And @justinus the rez wont make a difference to me in my opion its still a 14in screen

I would have loved the 14" if it was 1080p. I dock my 17" pro to 4 external monitors multiple times a day and logging out or restarting to force the dpi scaling to cooperate was not worth it to me. I had enough of that bogus nonsense with the surface pro and MacBook retina. When Microsoft finally gets their act together with multiple screens and scaling on high density displays I'll consider ultra high res laptops.

I also underestimated the usefulness of the switchblade ui and how much I love the trackpad off to the right side. So many shortcuts and hot keys programmed!

That's a massive over-generalization. The Blade Pro is obviously great for your use case, but everyone's needs are different. Two pounds can make a significant difference if you walk and use a lot of public transportation, in addition to having to carry printed documents for work, a water bottle, umbrella, a change of clothes for the gym, etc. It could also necessitate a larger bag than would otherwise be needed.

I wasn't offended, just put off buy your inability to understand the diversity of people that would want and/or need to carry less weight. Thanks for the apology.

Have you even tried the HiDPI panel? Your opinion isn't well informed if not, congrats for being able to carry 50lb of gear around all day, but throwing insults around at people because they don't want to or can't due to potential health problems is going to win you no friends.

I can see the appeal of wanting to carry around a Blade vs an Alienware, but when people start fussing about oz's (i.e. less than a pound) and fractions of an inch, it gets a bit ridiculous.

Razer blade pro 2014 looks sexy for 17" laptop. im not sure if i would find the same for 14" inch razer blade 2014 regardless of the specs.

it does look big.. i havnt tried 14" inch before. i had 13.3 inch vaio duo 13, im not sure about the 14inch laptop QHD screen space.

for those who had 17inch and 14inch, can you please share me your experience with the screen space between 17inch and 14inch. does it look the same or it appears cramped? (for example, as you can see on the picture, i had opened like over 10tabs on google chrome, i could still read and see all the tabs on the screen, would it be the same for the 14inch?)

    Pro.

No gimicky screen, no being forced to deal with magical formulas based on program for correct scaling/resolution settings. Sane temperatures, MAXWELL GPU with roughly same performance as the 14" @ NATIVE RESOLUTIONS.
For me the BIGGEST selling point is the SBUI. I know most people find it gimicky and can't find the purpose, but I use the HECK out of it!

Now, NEXT YEAR. . when Broadwell hits. . depending on if they actually bother to keep the Pro. . THEN maybe I'll change my mind [I won't, 14" is just TOOO small for a gaming notebook. .]

Yes i have tryed HiDPl and in my personal prefrence is no replacment for a bigger screen size im not trying to throw insult and i think the medical issue is very limited and i was just trying to say that i dont think between these laptops size and weight should be a factor for anyone unless u have medical issues

the weight is irrelevent its the fact that im not fond of buying a new bag so that I can carry a 17.3 in laptop to class or work. not to mention the size of the desks at my school are not very large.

hey guys, i have a question about the blade if you would be willing to help. I've been noticing that there are a lot of finger prints gathering, my roommate has a mac and has a hard shell cover (like these Amazon.com: macbook hard shell cases ) I was wondering if there was anything out there for the Razer Blade 2014. I have been looking just came up empty handed so I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance!

i cancelled my order for razer blade 2014, it would be pointless. because im going to get 12inch surface pro 3. 12inch and 17inch would be matching companion. while 12inch and 14inch would be the same.

i just saw the 14 inch and 17 inch (2014 model) side by side at the retail shop, 14inch looks dull and not so sexy when compared with 17inch 2014. its just portable, thats about it.

razer blade pro 2013 looks awful and terrible keys etc, it feels plasticky.

hmm, its not. i'll tell you the difference.

    1. Power button is bigger and looks nicer on 17 inch 2014.
    2. Trackpad is in middle for 14inch, while sbui on the right side and easy to rest palm on the pad when using mouse with 17inch 2014.
    3. The speaker located on both sides of the keyboard on 14inch, while on 17inch its located on top of the keyboard. tbh it really looks nice on 17inch. if the speaker on 14inch located on top of the keyboard then it would look awesome.

thats all i can think of.

17 inch looks bigger though =/ i mean the width of the laptop is about 424mm.. it would be nice if its around 395mm..

do you own a razer blade 14inch 2014/planning to get one?

i dont use sbui, its useless. but im learning / trying to get some use of it.

i would just use it for selecting/playing songs on media player.. or.. hmm nothing much lol

there are not much apps on it. it would be nice if they develop a stock market app on sbui. i would see the price tickers on it! i could still see them on the sbui browser, but it looks smaller and scaling issue.

and it would be awesome if they have a quick launch icons for the installed apps through sbui. i think thats the only practical usage..
for example click excel / onenote / word app icon the sbui, then it would launch the app on windows.

it sounds simple, i dont know why they havnt implement it yet.

I have the 17" Pro. Tried the 14" out and loved it, but it just didn't work out for my specific usage.

The switchblade UI is awesome, and you can totally get quick launch icons and hotkeys on it! I'll show you what I do with mine...

The picture on the pad is really just there to make me smile when I turn the machine on. Deal with the cheesiness, alright? :p

As for the buttons, I have quick keys for Chrome, itunes, task manager and an application called switcher (which is basically a mac style "expose" for windows that tiles all my open windows and lets me change tasks)

The other 6 buttons are keyboard macros that perform various office tasks I use a lot....namely cut, copy, paste and snap windows left, right and top. This is just one page of hot keys too...It makes me much more efficient in office tasks.

wow thanks man. now its totally awesome :D now i can forget about the 14inch blade 2014.

and now i could do anything i want with the tactile buttons... even linking to website :D

thanks alot, i was so ignorant.

is there any possible way to customize the touch screen?

im using this device mainly for office work / desktop replacement etc. i dont game these days,

for portability, I had all the generations of sony vaio z.. after its discontinuation , i bought vaio duo 13.. and then it doesnt feel that good though. i want a portable device with perfect functioning pen, portability, hybrid that can be used as tablet etc (so i dont need to buy a tablet, which would takes a lot of space and wires). thats why i went for the surface pro 3. i have a android and blackberry phone, so i dont miss android apps :). i never had any of the apple products. i disliked them.

as for the desktop replacement, i had alienware m17x, sager (older generation), dell precision (older generation).. lastly i had alienware 18. but it looks damn huge.. in my eyes it looks like a true desktop, i couldnt tolerate its size .. its power adapter looks like a brick... just imagine 4 ipad mini join together , it would look that big.

and finally i found blade pro 2014. its slim, nice and sexy. especially the power adapter is thinner!
