    hey guys
first let me say how happy i am i found this thread. got a few questions myself so here it goes.
I been playing mainly world of warcraft and i noticed that with gaming time when i play on my bed, the blade reaches 80 degrees celcius. I try not to put the ventilation holes located under the laptop on my knees so the laptop will get as much air as possible. is this 80 degrees thing normal ?
would it matter that when i play if the ventelation holes under the blade be on my knees or best not to cover them with m hairy legs ? :)

also , i got some WiFi issues myself , I have a 100mb download connection speed. on my alienware laptop i used to get like 40-60 when connected wireless , but with the blade im getting like 15-30mb download speed. any fixes for this ?
I have the linksys E1000 in my home.

so if i want to make a macro on my switchblade Ui and i want the macro to have the same picture the spell has in game , i need to take a picture of it with my iphone and then upload it to the razor blade UI or razer has set some icons for that on their website somewhere ?

Aside from windows update and the new GT 555m graphic card driver , is there anything else i need to download and update ? wifi ? integrated CPU ?

My questions might sound a ait newbish , but i just wanna cover up my paranoic mind :)
so far im happy with it , even though its a big downgrade from my alienware m18x performance , but i i wanted performance i would by a PC for 4th the price with two times the performance instead of having that 6kg laptop just stayig on my room desk.

any help would be appreciated , and please forgive my spelling since english isn't my main language

80C is pretty normal for most laptops, a bit hot for a CPU, especially a 17W Intel, but still acceptable, but pretty normal for a GPU.

another question... i tryed reinstlling the integrated CPU driver , then the synapse just stopped working and the keyboard just locked... i had to restart / shutdown the computer to get my keyboard back to work again. now when i try to reinstall synaps , the synas installation says that it cant find the driver location when i run the installation file from razer's website ??!

Make your best effort not to cover the vents on the bottom. That's where there are the four "stands" on the bottom so if its sitting on a flat surface (laptop cooler, iLap, etc). It has proper ventilation.

In regards to the temperatures you have clocked - I've clocked higher. Razer has said the internal components are rated to go to 120 celsius before they consider it a problem. However I considered it a problem...

Make sure you are using the 5ghz band. Other than that an aluminum laptop is generally going to have worse wifi performance if not engineered properly.

Yes aside from Star Wars the Old Republic and a few default graphics you are responsible for capturing your ability images anyway you can.

Razersupport.com has a list of all the drivers for your machine (aside from Windows Updates). I would just make a habit of checking that list once a month to see if any of the "Last Updated" dates has changed.

Yeah the Razer Blade is really not comparable to the m18x. It compares more to a MacBook Pro (running Windows) than any other laptop on the market currently.

    Your english is good. :)

This is an issue many of us had. Either the trackpad or the keyboard becomes inoperable when the synapse/synaptics driver/software crash.

I will give the 5ghz band a shot , u mean to configure this in my laptop wireless or on the router itself ?

Well see if your router is dual band (2.4/5ghz) and if so it should be on and your laptop *should* default to it.

If you don't have a dual band router you might benefit from an upgrade.

Looks like my wifi problems were not really problems at all - the new router fixed that.

However, I noticed 1 dead pixel today. Not happy. It's less than a week old!
    Anyone else getting dead pixels?

It happens. Generally you need 3 dead pixels to consider it a bad screen. I'd return it for a new one ASAP while in your 14 day window.

dont have witcher 2 installed. and yes, 1920x1080. i find the card can handle high res textures just fine, which makes the games look better in my opinion, than say direct x 11 tesselation effects and other stuff.

Is it possible to backup the recovery partition onto DVD or usb thumbdrive? If I was to get it, I'd like to try out installing linux on it. But before doing so it would be nice to know I've got the recovery software safe and secure for re-installing if needed.

clonezilla might do the trick, I'd try a full backup and recovery first to verify.

I've run BackTrack 5R2 via USB stick on the blade. The recovery partition is visible in linux as a regular partition.

I installed from one USB to another, so my SSD is untouched. I don't feel like it's quite big enough to be dual-booting. USB3 appeared to be working fine as the boot drive, nice and snappy too.

Copying that recovery partition to a USB or other storage is on my list too, but I haven't tried it yet. Was planning on booting into BT again and just using DD, but it'll probably be a few weeks before I try it.

If you make any progress, please let us know here!

While watching your cable/dvr remotely can someone also independently watch something on the tv connected to the cable/dvr?

If it has more than one tuner, which pretty much every DVR does. Just like watching TV while recording a different channel at the same time.

Made a healthy profit of $140. There is demand for these things. The refresh would see Ivy Bridge (better battery life), and keplay (MUCH better performance and heat management). I can't believe Razer dropped the ball on this one.

It's 'Kepler', nVidia's next gen GPU built on 28nm manufacturing process. Supposed to use less power, run cooler, with a significant performance improvement over the current Fermi.

Intel Ivy Bridge will be a modest CPU improvement, but the GPU core of the HD 4000 integrated GPU will get a significant boost. Gaming capable at 720p.

that sux, but summr=er can also mean 6 monthss ? :)
i dont mind the performance so much ( dont mind the extra performance ofc playing the witcher 2 on ultra or BF3) however , when it comes to heat thats tempting since when i play for multiple hours the GPU gets to 80 degrees which is ok but the the laptop buttom becomes very very hot ( maybe becaus its aluminium cover) so hot that it cant touch skin / knees... ( cant play with short pants lol ).
all in all when u buy the razer u baisical buy it for portability and thats comming from someone who owned the alienware m18x, but carrying 6kg on ur back or trying to put that weight on a coffee table is just too much... not to mantion ur hands hurt badly becaus its like 3 inches thick or more... unlike the razer blade.
one thing i dont get with razer, they dont allow u to open the razer ( physicaly and warranty wise) which is kind of stupid since i like to take care of my machines and clean the fans once in awhile for better cooling activity in the future.

did it come to anyone in mind the idea that u cant open ur rig to even clean up the fans from the dust it sucks during its usage ?

It's a casualty of thin and light. Macs are the same way. They could at least have an access panel so you can get in there with some compressed air.

    P.S

Im still having trouble with unstable internet connection and i know for 100% its not my router since 3 other laptops in the house are getting 60mb download speed via wireless and my razer blade is getting like 10-30mb , rarely it reaches 50 mb download speed.
i tryed disabling the bluetooth and downloaded the new interl drivers that were posted on page 2 on this thread and nothing helped =/

I would also like Razer to address the issue of the cheap/crappy plastic trackpad. They need to use a nice glass that is smooth, no friction. I believe some new Asus laptops will feature glass trackpads soon. Hope its a trend. I ended up returning mine because I finally concluded that I liked looking at the Blade a whole lot more than actually using it. For me, it just wasn't 3 grand nice. For now I am happy playing with my 500 dollar ipad, will just stick to my cheapy Pavilion for gaming until something catches my eye. Blade sure got the aesthetics right but hopefully the refresh will tackle some of things I was not happy with.

to sell or not to sell my blade :) ?
well , i had m18x alienware , i enjoyed the performance alot but couldnt carry it anywhere... so i sold and for 1/4 the price of an m18x i can buy a decent PC to play everything on ULTRA even all demmanding games...
the blade i got becaus i wanted portability , but the price is ghih even though the built is realy good + the matt screen + keyboard . but it heats alot and not sure if GT555m is enough performance for me on the witcher 2 / BF 3. to play the witcher 2 smoothly i need to lower graphics alot and it looks like im playig on the Xbox...
though about the price of the blade , its same / maybe even a tad cheaper than a mac book pro . and having tasted both worls , both are very well built so i dont see the reason of getting a macbook pro 17inch...
    so now what ? :)

Sell while you can still make profit. When 2.0 is officially announced you can effectively say the resell value will plummet quite substantially.

I have no idea how many it is.It's a tiny two dots at this moment. I'm just super concerned it will get worse and worse and then I'm out of my warranty period and I'll be eating crow.

It's just freaking annoying as it wasn't even a week old and you're paying top dollar for this thing, it has to work out of the box!

We'll see what happens - so far Razer has been very responsive in their tech support.

Could a Razer Blade owner tell me, on the power brick, what voltage input it accepts?

Obviously the US standard is 110v, but I want to know, if like most other power bricks (which are significantly larger) if it can support up to 240v.
