Trying to get Razer owner's opinion between both screens.
I understand the higher refresh rate and response time is loved by gamers but there are many who enjoy the touch feature such as myself.

Lightbleeding:- I keep hearing that Razer UHD screens have lightbleeding issues. How common is this?

Quality Issues: I keep hearing conflicting reports on this. On one hand people say Razer Blade have great build quality and then on the other hand, even on this forum - there are so many that says Razer laptops are known to have "issues"

Generally speaking I would go for FHD just for the battery life gains, but you also get a resolution which works with the screen size without scaling and 144hz.

4K is nice after scaling to maybe make text look a bit more crisper and watching 4K stuff natively will definitely look better. If you do professional design work where colour accuracy is of importance, you will also benefit in that way.

So really it depends on what you value. Battery life + refresh rate vs PPI + colour accuracy. I think the FHD is also a matte screen, so it is a lot less reflective, but there are some pro's and cons of matte vs glossy screens.

Any ultra-thin "gaming" laptop is going to be having heat "issues" - much discussion here and on YouTube about this, and some fixes that help.
Some of the battery life "issues" have been addressed with firmware fix since launch. (differences in early reviews, and the longer term, or later ones)

It always comes down to what YOU want in a laptop, as none of them are "perfect" in all ways. Same goes for screens.

Creative color workflow (video/photo) probably would do better on a calibrated 4K screen
4K video watching (if that is a main need) probably best on a 4K screen
Better FPS, cooler temps, etc, from a 1K (FHD) screen when gaming (144hz can improve visuals over 60hz if video card allows)
Better battery life from 1K screen (better here at 60hz)
Some people, like me, have troubles with the 4K screens as the scaling does not work in some apps.

So, decide what is important to you. If you are a lightroom/photoshop heavy user, and want to color correct your pictures mainly on this, easily transportable, laptop, go for the 4K screen, as it does colors better. If you are looking to try and run current games, most agree that the 1K(FHD) screen probably serves better. Some work (repaste job, adding/changing some thermal padding, undervolting) can help temps.

Best battery life from FHD screen at 60hz, with the 1060max-q card. (running the integrated graphics even better)

Whatever floats your boat. Only you know what is important to you. All laptops will have a few "lemons" in the batch, some get reviewed. Generally, I see problems level out after the first few months of production and use, as problems are encountered, and fixed.

My Razer 15 is still "pre-production" at HIDEvolution, where repasting, and screen selection for light bleed is going to be performed.

    Good Luck, and have fun.

Dude, you were right that there were some issues on the 1st batch or so. But support has been great from what I have read so that should ease your mind.
The issues were ssd getting very hot. That's been fixed by Razer by putting a thermal strip over it. The other was buzzing power supply. I have not heard about that recently so expect that's been fixed as well.
As to 4k, I have the 4K touch screen model, one of the 1st in the UK and love it to bits.
The 4k screen has no light bleed at all! Different manufacture.
No buzzing power supply and quality is ace. Love it to bits.
I post every 2-3 days on youtube about my Razer in the Real World examples. This may help you.

Hey Bones, sorry to ring you up, looking to buy a similar machine from HIDevolution so wanted to ask about your experience and how is your machine holding up. Thanks!

HIDEvolution was great to work with. This was my second laptop I got from them, and I will continue to use them in the future. I did have an issue with the power pack, which the swapped out without a problem.

Beautiful laptop, tight, feels good. I recently travelled for a weekend, and both game play (LOTRO), and some Word use, was just fine. I did not get temps, but the keyboard was never noticeably hot. I am sure that strip, at the top of the keyboard, was.

While I will do some tweaking, but I am not a power user like some of the big posters here. Having a warranty on a custom LM repaste is comforting. I did install a bigger SSD, do a clean install of Win10, and use throttlestop to undervolt (currently @ -112, -125 was bluescreening during game transitions, a busy time for the computer I think)

At this point in time, doing it over, I would repeat this machine, from HIDEvolution.

    Thanks!

Although I would like to play more, the reality is that I don't see it happening now so thats why I think i'll go for the 1060, but even in this version ill go with LM to drop temperatures.
Is it weird to call the machine sexy?
