I've been seeing a lot of people mention around the forum that the review blogs didn't correctly configure optimums or battery settings to get the most out of the Razer Blade battery. The biggest thing keeping me from buying one is the middling battery. I'd like to have it last 6 hours unplugged for internet usage when I'm out. What's the word on this?

I've found the blades battery life to be well beyond my personal expectations. I haven't used any kind of official software to test or anything but i can guestimate that i easily get 5+ maybe 6 or 7 just general browsing.

Note: the blades screen is unquestionably the brightest screen ive used, so i keep the brightness pretty close to its lowest setting. Even still its almost brighter than my work laptops 1080p IPS display.

Aside from the optimus settings that may or may not have been configured properly, most of the laptop review sites i read set the screen brightness to 50% and run a looped video. Something that may have skewed the results with the blade could have been its 50% brightness is far brighter than many laptops 100% brightness, which would have ended up fudging the results.

Note: I think some sites like Anandtech use a photometer to measure the light to more accurately gauge each lappys subjective brightness measurements, but i'm not sure there have been any reviews of the blade that calibrate this. (stopped reading blade reviews once i received mine :) )

If you properly adjust your power saving settings, 6hrs is definitely possible. I honestly do not understand what the fuss is about, but, then again, I'm coming from a laptop that got 4hrs. It's not an ultrabook, but we already knew that.

Do you know of any guides that explain what all the power settings are for and their approximated impact?
