    Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone has a restart issue where the screen is completely blank (black screen with backlight on, keyboard on). I have tried everything such as reinstalling windows, drivers etc and this issue eventually persists. If I shut the computer down, sleep or hibernate it is fine. This only happens during "restarts". If I restart the screen is completely blank and I have to hold down the power button for 20 seconds so that the bios screen pops up.

I have tried uninstalling the display drivers and allowing windows to install them and for a few days I am able to restart normally but then it goes back to the blank screen issue.

Do you have anything attached to the computer i.e. external drives? Sometimes it can hang the computer for some reason, and if that is, removing the connected device should release the computer. Cheers

I think I got it working again. I deleted all the display drivers and turned the laptop on airplay mode so it was disconnected to the internet and installed the drivers from the razerzone website. I think windows was auto installing drivers that were causing the restart issue.

If you read through the entire 2014 owners lounge thread you'll see a few occurrences of this. I don't think the cause was fully discovered, but some people said don't accept Intel Graphics driver from Windows Update. It should be an optional update (not automatically installed unless you manually select it). Updating the Nvidia drivers using Nvidia GFE should be fine.

I discovered a workaround for this issue and a permanent solution:

    Workaround:
    1. When the screen has gone black / blank close the lid.
    2. Wait for the white light that fades in and out to come on and fade in and out once.
    3. Then open the screen.
    4. Then press the Windows key as quickly as possible.
This should cause the Windows login screen to appear and it will operate as normal.

If the issue occurs when booting, simple allow enough time for the computer to boot completely (I recommend 60+ seconds), then follow the steps above.

    Permanent Solution:
    • Send it to Razer for a warrantied repair. This is a known issue and they warrantied mine without any questions.

I also have this issue on Blade 14" 2014 and fond out that connecting monitor/TV via HDMI while in black screen immediately helps. This is most likely an NV Optimus issue.
