    Hi all -

I just received my Razer Blade 2014 last week. One thing that I noticed immediately was that whenever I closed the lid I saw a distortion in the center of the screen as if the screen was under pressure at that point. It occurs no matter where I put my hand on the lid (corner, top, side) or how lightly I close it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I've never seen this before with a laptop display and wondering if there is the potential for long-term damage if the screen is under so much pressure every time I open and close the lid.

The left hinge also makes a scraping noise whenever I open the lid from a full closed position, so wondering if I just received a faulty display. Let me know! Thanks in advance!

I do not have the "pressure" mark, but i can relate to your issue with the left hinge making a tiny scraping noise. Its something that I didn't notice when I first received my system, but im hoping its something that goes away with time (wishful thinking)

Its a tiny issue for me, which isn't worth sending in my machine for repairs.

I would test out a handful of images in a side-by-side comparison if I were you to see if there are any discrepancies. This is a remarkably bright and vivid display, so i would make sure that its an issue with the screen before i went through the return/repair process.

    Good luck sir.

I get no distortion at all no matter where grab the lid to open and close it. Also, I dont have the scrapping noise coming from the left hinge that you mentioned either. I would get in touch with Razer customer service and tell them what is going on. I dont think its normal.

I only get distortion when pressing directly on the logo, which seems to make sense since this is a weak point structurally. I pushed around the edges, even into the fins on the top, and was not able to reproduce the distortion.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I heard back from Razer - they said the hinge noise was normal and would go away with use. They also said the distortion/pressure was normal since the screen was under some pressure.

I'm planning to hang on to the unit for now since the pressure hasn't seemed to leave any noticeable changes and I love the unit otherwise. Just wanted to circle back to the thread with my findings.
